RE: injured pitchers. I thought that was the whole point of this game? I have 7, plus 1 position player with a pitcher injury. What do I win?

how many pitchers are on the IL … so many Tommy Johns…

Does Kelly drive lifted Bentley's with snorkel systems?
-
thought that was Kelly Clarkson! @Bitchin
-
Hey Cutch, I just learned that Jeremy Clarkson would refer to your home town team as 'The Pittsburg Floated Burglers'
-
Warming Bernebal just got outrighted by The Rockies. If you can't play for the Rockies and went unclaimed on waivers that's a bad day. I'm afraid Warming might be in danger of being the first professional baseball player to spontaneously combust.

Am I already gonna regret that Jared Jones trade?

after three games, i extrapolated the Pirates end of the year record and its 162-0… carry on.

Add Muscles O’Neil to Arozarena and Adolis for recent Cardinal’s outfielders traded away who are doing quite well.

You're just jealous of my waiver and auction tiebreaker position, Commish...

The only way Senzel’s injury should be called a freak is if it’s in a 90’s new jack swing tune because it like to fuck a lot.
-
that’s wild @Saint! the exact order haha… tried to sneak him through for $2 but you snagged him for $3! I had that coming for my Rafaela pick up at the draft for $2 instead of your $1. Touché
-
Funny thing about the last 'preseason' auctions from my perspective: after I cut J. Hoffman for Rizzo, I pondered how I might spend my $3 windfall if/when someone picked up Hoffman - I had 4 names in mind, in this order of preference: Crochet, Estrada, Kopech and Gil. Lo and behold, that's the order in which they all got posted. Glad to land Crochet...

"Senzel suffered the freak injury while fielding a grounder prior to Thursday’s Opening Day showdown against the Reds." Au contraire - there is no such thing as a freak injury where Chip Senzel is involved; the most Chip injury ever.

To be read in your best internal Howard Cosell voice:
And with the sound of Nick “Chip” Senzel breaking a bone, the 2024 Major League Baseball season is officially underway.

If Commish's "good-guy Shohei" version of events is the truth, which it well could be, my first question for his lawyers would be: when are you all going to finally learn that the cover up (almost) always buys more trouble than the truth?

very true @roar, but you'll get no effing breaks in this league. you lost your entire MI in the last six months and I wonder if you're keyboard pounding mad. this Ohtani business has pushed you over the edge.
-
I'm sorry, but give me an effing break about gambling and professional sports. MLB has not 1 but at least 2 "official sports betting partners." MLB *INVESTED* in Draft Kings in 2013! Sportsbooks advertise during team broadcasts. I know that the Orioles TV crew reads off betting odds during the game! Obviously a player can't be betting on his own team but the hand-wringing here is just a tad hypocritical.

Regardless, he is still welcome to sock some dingers for the Rime. We have no betting policy on our team - anything goes!
-
It's sad that the best-case scenario for Shohei is that he was massively swindled by the person who seemed to have been his best friend. My money (oops, betting metaphor) is still on good-guy Shohei helping Ippei out and not realizing it would get him in so much trouble, then lawyers and everyone (including Ippei) agreeing it was best to pretend he knew nothing.
-
Yes the translator does much more than just translating. But the fact that they kind if walked back some of the things Ippei said at the very beginning makes the whole thing a lot more suspicious to me. I’d really love to believe Ohtani but I guess we’ll see.
-
Because his English is not fluent and the translator said hey I’ll handle for you make your life easier. Daniel Park who translated for Mets talked about it on ESPN.
-
People are sneaky, Cutch!

I believe Ohtani as well - but - I just don’t understand how his friend/translator/ had access to his account. I don’t even give my wife access to our account (JK there).
-
It's not a good look to be in front of that many cameras, but I for one believe Shohei, not the gambling fiend.

What are you talking about? He came off fine. Feel bad for how his trust was violated by a “friend”
-
…he probably had a bet on O/U 0.5 cameras in the room. Yikes!
-
Ohtani situation is *Not* looking good…
-
Haha
-
Still got my guy, despite the "fun fact" announcement!
-
Interesting fact about Gabe Speier: last year he set an all time record for first pitch strike percentage.
-
Oh that explains that. I feel better about my draft prep and worse about my post draft awareness. I tuned out for a couple days there.
-
Junior C. wasn't available in the draft. Carried over from last year by SV. Put on waivers after the draft.

I wasn't around when was on waivers. I got ridiculously outbid for him in my other league last year and I decided that wasn't going to happen again. And I didn't notice him among the free agents prior to our draft.
-
Everyone missed the waiver period on Caminero, and then he went for way more, huh? Also lol @Roar, that makes me feel a little better
-
Nah, it's cool. His bookie is accepting deferred payments in 2047, so the debt is actually only $5.27 in today's dollars
