per the spreadsheet, Josh's Team is on the clock
-
With the 5th pick in the prospect draft, the Leather Daddies select Luis Campusano, Tackle, University of Southern California.
Catcher - SD
-
Fyi. As a joke. I changed this team's name to Ghosts
-
1.4: T. Larnach
-
Exactly. Early indications seem to indicate he will be drafting
-
Detroit Dynamo are on the clock

I'm checking with our proxy whether he's gonna draft for our MiLB draft too. If not we'll just be skipping Dynamo
-
Round 1, Pick 3: Edward Cabrera, P, MIA

Oops, I see now Luke has already answered your question... :)
-
As in, during the draft? I can't remember who is new to Ottoneu, so at the risk of sounding pedantic... Allen wouldn't be available for auction if he was selected during the draft. Someone has put Austin Allen up for auction post-draft. Everyone has a chance to bid for 48 hours. The highest bid gets him at $1 higher than the second highest bid. In the event of a tie high bid, the lowest in the standings gets the player at that price.
-
No. That’s just a normal auction. That’s how free agents are added. Allen isn’t eligible - he’s played in the majors already
-
did Cads choose Austin Allen?
-
Round 1, pick 2: Daulton Varsho, C, ARI. Charming Cads on the clock.
-
MiLB first pick: Liberty Village Lumber selects J.J. Bleday OF MIA. Cannonball Run is on the clock.
-
but speaking of which, here is a link to the page we will be using for the MiLB roster reference. It has the draft order already set up: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uC6XbdeoOf47Uddus1mQamHeHIHBwELi3wEr0h85VJ0/edit?usp=sharing
-
Ok perfect. Thank you for clarifying as your prior message said otherwise. All good now.
-
I posted the order further down in the comments
-
The MiLB draft is snake. The auction is not snake because you are given a chance to bid on every player regardless of who nominates them
-
I have done a ton of auctions and my issue is with the MiLB draft, not the auction. Not doing a snake draft provides a huge competitive advantage for the first 3 drafters.
-
auctions are incredibly fun. stay in and give it a whirl!
-
Unfortunately, if that is the case, I will be backing out of the league.
-
The draft isn't snake? The clearly isnt' fair.
-
The auction draft is open, it should be in the submenu at the top of the league page. Please try to be prompt tonight. I'd like to get started right at 8:00 ET
-
The minor league roster is fifteen per team. There is a nomination order, but it is not a snake, it just repeats. The clock is set at 15 seconds but resets after each bid. It can go pretty quick so it's good to stay alert.
-
is there a nomination order, and how much time between nominations and bids?
-
Remind me, how big is the minor league roster per team?
-
Finally, the important subjects
-
To those of you that have done these auctions before, what is the sweet spot in terms of alcohol consumption? Assuming a four hour length, does one drink every 20 minutes for the first two hours, followed by one every 30-40 minutes for the last two sound about right? Thanks!
-
Obviously it would be great if we could pick more often than that but it allows for things like, you know, sleep
-
Slow draft / 12hr clock works for me
-
Big fan of the slow draft/12 hour per selection format for MiLB draft. Allows flexibility in case regular draft goes late or whatever
-
I also propose setting a 12-hour limit on draft picks. If a team’s pick is not submitted in this time frame, their pick is skipped. Of course I’m open to debate on this, but some incentive is needed to move the draft along. Please let me know y’all’s thoughts; I’m trying to meet everyone’s needs but also we do need to get this done
-
A random order generator has determined the pick order for the MiLB Draft:
1. Liberty Village Lumber
2. Cannonball Run
3. Charming Cads
4. Detroit Dynamo
5. Leather Daddies
6. Josh’s Team
7. Dreadnought
8. Pesapallogators
9. Big Papi Memories
10. Polar Bear Pride
11. Legendary Tune Steak
12. Siena
This is a snake draft, so Siena will have pick 13 as well, running all the way back up to Liberty Village Lumber with pick 24 and then pick 25
-
The MiLB draft will commence immediately after the second night of auctioning. I’m proposing utilizing a slow draft format for this now that we have a longer amount of time e opening day to complete it. My idea is to have all picks must submitted in order to the league message board - it’s the only place all owners have access to and it avoids messy email chains. I’m also setting up a google sheet to track the draft progress and rosters.
-
Okay people. The auction is proceeding tomorrow as planned, starting at 8 PM ET. Please, please let me know if your plans have changed and you will be unable to attend so we can get a proxy. There are no autodrafts - Having someone miss the initial auction can seriously damage the competitive balance of the league for years.
-
Any chance you can just send me a voicemail with the basics? I don't want to read.

For those of you interested, here is the official Ottoneu position on recent developments regarding the MLB season: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/coronavirus-update/7244
-
Correct. Ottoneu's take
-
I believe that's what's known as the rake.
-
sorry - just had time to dig into this. with 12 teams paying $100, our rules only have $900 in payouts ($600/$200/$100). is this correct? if so, where does the other $300 go?
-
No, there are just two spots to help with platooning purposes. It’s somewhat difficult to meet the GP cap of 162 with just one C so they have an option to play two a day if you so choose
-
fangraphs has default ottoneu settings as 1 catcher. is ours 2?
-
All MiLB players outside the 40-man rosters stay at $0 until they are called up
-
Not sure if that’s going to be changed if the season is shortened.
-
No IP/week caps or mins. Only caps on any position are season long
-
is there a minimum IP/week? also, are Milb draft and holds subject to the +$2 arbitration increase even if not on the main roster?
-
I agree - let's continue as planned, stocking up on toilet paper, canned goods and baseball players
-
We should proceed as planned and this can allow us to break it up in to smaller time blocks if needed.
-
I like the idea of proceeding with the draft as planned. And gotta love Charming's sabermetric approach to the situation. LOL
-
OK with initial draft date, it won't change much except for an exceptional player making the roster or an injured guy coming back before start of season.
