I'm in favor of keeping the draft date as is. I do wish teams would provide a little more information on players' immune systems (white blood cell counts, for example), but it's probably a privacy issue.

I’ve thought about it but I think finding a date that everyone can do is still rare, so my vote would be to proceed as planned. I don’t think player values are dramatically shifted and if we start to get into worst case scenario territory I feel like Ottoneu a whole may have some guidance. There’s still the possible outcome that we’re looking at a two-week delay. If there is significant dissent to this I’m open to changing, that’s just what I’m thinking
-
Should we consider delaying the draft until we know more about how this MLB season will progress?
-
I've only ever been able to do it one at a time
-
Is there a way to load a list of players to one's watchlist or does it have to be done one at a time?

I agree, from past experience, better 4 hours the first night
-
I expect so - probably closer to four the first night.
-
Apologies if this has been said already, but how long do we expect to go on each night of the draft? Like 3-4 hours per night?
-
Also: a helpful tool. If you want to search for players and add them to your watchlist prior to the draft, you can load that watchlist directly into the Ottoneu Auction. The in-auction search function is a little difficult to navigate sometimes, just be aware
-
The Ottoneu league rules can be found via the Rules link at the very right of the banner above^^. Our league specific rules - now reflecting all the changes that we have discussed here on the message board and the google form we filled out - is available at the bottom of the league settings page (under the league sub-banner^^^). This will also be where the MiLB rosters will be found once the draft is completed.
-
Hey everyone! T-minus one week to Auction. Just a reminder to review all the rules and get any clarifications done now so no one gets any unpleasant surprises come auction time. I'm available here or on the slack channel (Luke Dykes).
-
Ottoneu is more desktop friendly but it’s gotten better on mobile. Roster breakdown may be in official rules but here it is: C (2 spots), 1B, 2B, SS, MI, 3B, 5 OF, UTIL, 5 SP, 5 RP. That‘s the max roster that can be fielded each day. Remember that each position is capped at 162 games played over the full season - so you could play two catchers a day, but they’ll max out your cap midseason. The two catchers are mostly for platoon help. Pitchers have a 1500 IP cap, only 5 SP can start on any day
-
I’m struggling to find our roster breakdown. I’m on mobile and I understand Ottoneu is desktop-friendly.
Is that a correct assessment?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thank you kindly!

March 17th and 18th work for me! I’m one of the West-Coasters. If you want to move it an hour earlier (4PM PST), I’ll be able to accommodate. Thx!

Okay everyone. Miraculously, we have some dates that seem to suit everyone. We’ll start the auction on Tuesday, March 17th and finish it on Wednesday, March 18th. I’m going to tentatively schedule the auction for 8 PM ET. As we get closer to the date, I’m gonna call on you all and see if we can’t move it a little earlier. Hard to balance the East-West time balance but it’d be great if we could try to accommodate everyone’s schedule as much as possible. Let me know if I have gotten this all wrong
-
You had already but good to see you on there again
-
Filled out many polls in the last week, not sure if I did this one, can somebody confirm please
-
Only 4 people left to fill out the scheduling poll. Please do so quickly so we can set an auction date ASAP.
-
I think first we need to settle on auction dates and then whatever they are we can flesh out how much time we need to get the minor league draft done. I’m very sympathetic to having it done before the season as well.
-
Re: Polar Bear - Any player can be drafted in the initial 40-man auction. The MiLB Draft player pool will be whichever minor leaguers remain once the initial draft is over. I imagine that Robert will not be one of them.
-
We need to knock out all drafts prior to the regular season.
-
Would someone like Luis Robert only be available in the MiLB Draft? Or can he/other guys wither 0 MLB PAs be bid on during the auction. If its the former then I'd think it'd be important to have the the draft done before the MLB season starts
-
I'm in favour of the 'zero cost until called up' MiLB policy. I like the idea of having a separate MiLB draft in whatever format (I agree that a slow draft probably works).
-
I think the MiLB draft should be at a separate time. I've had a lot of people tell me that those worked well as a slow draft and I think I'm kind of in favor of that. The MiLB season doesn't start until mid-late April anyway and I'm pretty sure we're gonna be tired after the two-day auction. Given less familiarity with the minors player pool might take a little longer. I know I'll need to think more. Slack, message board, Google Doc or maybe online draft software could all be options for that.
-
In favor of the "zero cost til called up" policy for MiLB players. Seems like it would potentially be a hassle to call up then drop MiLB guys for $1.
Will that inaugural MiLB draft happen right after our big one in March? Should we just do it the same night as the second half of the big draft?

There are some great channels for assessing trade value and prospects as well as just a place to discuss baseball news and general things with other people in the Ottoneu community
-
Sorry, maybe should have been more clear on Slack. It’s just a workspace communication app where Trey Baughn (Ottoneu admin of sorts) has done a great job cultivating a community for Ottoneu players. It’s not a requirement by any means but it is a little easier to maintain long threads than the message board here. No pressure to use it by any means; anything that will need League-wide attention I’ll make sure to post here as well
-
Hey Luke, I don't know what a Slack is but I like to be included. Can you make me one?

Slack channel is up; send me those usernames if you haven't already. And a reminder to fill out the WhenIsGood scheduling poll
-
I'm up for whatever rules-wise. Those changes sound good with me. Unless people want to put it to an actual vote, I'll let people just add any comments to the message board. Let's say debate is open until Friday.
-
Same here, zero cost until called up and zero cost when dropped but will go with the flow of the league

One last thing... I just want to express my appreciation for Luke getting the league set up and being commish. I can already tell that you are thorough and conscientious. Gonna make for a great league. Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand why we would not allow an MiLB-eligible player to be drafted onto an MiLB roster if they had previously been on a team's 40-man roster. As long as they still haven't been called up, shouldn't we be able to roster them as MiLB?

My vote is for all players to remain zero cost until called up to the majors (that is, gaining 1 AB or an IP, per rules). Prior to this point, players can be dropped at zero cost, without being forced to call up to incur a $1 cap cost. Keep in mind that the player then becomes available for auction, if say for example, a call up is imminent. But I am totally fine with whatever the league decides.

Looking for owners in new league Atomic fantasy
-
Oh. One last clarification I forgot. MiLB players ARE allowed on rosters at any time, however if on a 40-man roster they are subject to salary increases and forfeit their ability to be stashed on the MiLB roster again by ANY owner. The MiLB Draft will consist of players remaining who have not been auctioned at the initial auction
-
If there’s anything else, feel free to message me or use the message board to bring it up. Looking forward to a great season. Remember to fill out the WhenWorks survey and sound off about the $1 cut penalty for MiLB players.
-
Finally, some people indicated they’d be interested in a Slack channel for this league. There is a booming Ottoneu community on slack and I’ve used it as a good tool for communication in other leagues as well. If you’re already on the slack Ottoneu, message me your handle and I’ll make a channel for us. If you’re not on there already and you’re interested, post here and Trey can add you. Then message me you
-
I was asked whether teams should be allowed to drop MiLB players during the season without incurring a $1 penalty on their 40-man cap. I am open to anything the league decides on, but given that you can’t add any MiLB replacements in season (barring a trade), I think a $1 hit is a fair penalty for preventing another owner from rostering that player. Let me know what you all think.
-
Other rules that we have definitive answers on: There will only be 2 MiLB drafts - late March and mid-October. This means that all first year players (MLB draft and J2 signings) will be locked for auctioning until after the October draft date. The league decided unanimously to allow MiLB trading outside of the transaction period. As far as I take it this would allow for MiLB players to be included in 40-man trades - please note MiLB players in the trade notes and on the league message board.
-
Okay folks, got enough responses to draw some conclusions. First off, 2-night auction is the format we’ll use. Based on everyone’s comments, it looks like a Tuesday/Wednesday or possibly a weekend setup might work best. Please use this WhenisGood poll to select dates that you’re available and we can try to accommodate everyone as much as possible. Please keep in mind that with 12 people all over the country - some flexibility migh

Hey all, just two more people to vote. There's just one question up in the air but, those two votes are gonna count. I'll give you until end of day Saturday to fill it out but then I'm gonna work on getting a draft date for us with some solidified rules.

Hi guys, my name's Tim and I live in New York. Lifelong Mets fan. First time playing Ottoneu and I'm excited to get going! Also think 2 night auction would be best.

Hey just a reminder guys, fill out this survey when you get a chance: https://forms.gle/F84f7fzWn7QWQtux5 . It's short, only 5 questions to start

And I?m Jay ? first time Ottoneu player, from Cleveland originally but living in DC area now. Lifelong Indians fan. Which championship drought ends first: the Tribe or me in fantasy baseball???

Good evening, all. I'm Brad and I'm co-managing the Leather Daddies with Joey... not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm from Birmingham, AL but was born in Michigan and spent a lot of time there in my youth. Die-hard Detroit Tigers fan; fantasy baseball vet of 17 seasons. New to Ottoneu and looking forward to the experience. Nice to see a league with managers from all over North America. Two-day draft sounds great.
-
Just for reference, any extra information on the league (Rules, Minor League Rosters and Transactions) will be linked in the League Note, which is available through the league settings link on the main nav menu. Gimme a shout if you have any questions.
-
Okay everyone. I've gotten a pretty good snapshot of the minor league rules added here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HarONIBIfuUD-qB1VCh3jtZqqeP3Do17uuLd6PINENQ/edit?usp=sharing .
Please review the rules (general ottoneu rules can be found at the top of the page) and then fill out this survey just so we can get a general bearing: https://forms.gle/sawmydraPHXZWkt4A . There's room at the end of that form for questions and suggestions. Hopefully we can get this stuff going soon!

Hey Everyone! Cory from Denver and a seasoned fantasy baseball player and Rockies fan. I love the minor league aspect of the game as it gives a true keeper league dynamic. We absolutely need to start early or divide the draft up the initial draft will take 8+ hours. I look forward to a competitive league
