I'm in a particularly bad situation. I already have dumped/will dump the crappy players I expected to be my stars after the draft, and have replaced/will replace them with FA pickups. The result is still plummetting through the standings. I'm still going to play the same way, just not with any expectation of doing well.
-
We aren't even at the halfway point of the season. Still time to make a run. Don't give up!
-
And they gave up 7 homers. Well boys, we tried.
-
I'm approaching the point of no return. Today could totally break my season. With a new injury and unbelievably poor performance from my position players in the last week, my pitchers will have to come through today.
-
That's my understanding Bartolo. If they Start, you have to have them in the SP role. If they come in as relief, the RP slot
-
Archie Bradley is starting as the opener today-- I'm 99% sure I've got this right, but I have to play him as a starter if I want credit for him, right?

Relievers should just have their points scaled by leverage. It's ridiculous as balls that a "closer" pitching at home and throwing two scoreless innings can't get extra points, but someone tossing a third of an inning in a three-run game can.
-
I suppose the real-baseball-accurate way to do relievers would be to have 7-8 slots for them every day but to cut out Hold/Save points. That way, you'd suffer for completely ignoring them, but only the way any real team would. With 5 relief slots, and 5 starting pitcher slots, the relief-to-start innings ratio is all wrong so relievers are too unimportant without saves/holds.
-
I'm going to nuke the subtlety of the jab at the end there, well played.

After a couple years in my other league, I started to pick up on the idea that it was important to find the steady, underwhelming MLB players rather than rostering prospects and hoping for the best. The teams winning that league seemed to have the right guys at the right time - the Seth Smiths and Steve Pearces and Starlin Castros at exactly the right time. However, there IS generally a ceiling to that model which might put you in the top half of the league without getting much higher.
-
I mean, what you’re saying about market inefficiencies is certainly true. The issue in this instance is that this particular inefficiency makes the fantasy game less reflective of actual baseball than I originally hoped given my cursory review of the scoring system. I’m still enjoying the game, but would be far more interested if reliever value were nerfed a bit to better reflect the real sport.
-
BTW, just so there's no misunderstanding, I agree with Ivan/Omar on most stuff in a general way when it comes to real baseball. But this ain't real baseball. Paying lower prices for quality players because everyone else hates the type of player they are (contact hitter, closer, etc.) is part of the game.
-
I am loving the level my team is playing at while being the ultimate anti-Ivan/Omar combination. We don't hit homers and we're first in hitting. We have all-world relief pitching and crap starters, and we're third in pitching. I feel very fulfilled right now.
-
-52 points from Eickhoff, ouch!
-
35 points from Newcomb out of the bullpen, lol. I wish my starters could do that well!
-
Tied for second best hitting rate wise while leading the league in pitching rate, and t doesn't matter because I never have any healthy players with regular at bats.
-
God, the injuries are killing me. I thought I'd stay around middle of the pack but my pitching staff has died. Literally every pitcher on my bench is out with an injury, and I still have an injured pitcher active.
-
I've beaten even him by 200 points in the last week, but I started waaaay back. Still 350 away.

It's a marathon though...I'm hoping my guys coming off 60 Day IL will provide a boost

So Carlos Correa is out 4-6 weeks from sustaining an injury while receiving a massage. At this point I just have to laugh at my poor luck.
-
I feel like my team has been pretty consistent week-over-week but does not have some of the day-to-day upside from others I've seen. Just kinda coasting in the top half of the standings, waiting for Josh Bell to turn into a pumpkin.

Yeah. I'm not getting "bench happy" just yet, but sitting strikeout guys when facing a SO pitcher. Or, sitting pitchers facing the HR happy teams (Yankees, Brewers, etc.)
-
Also I THINK if you game it just right, you can exceed the 1500 IP limit if you have like tons of SPs going on the final day of the season.
-
I would probably let things play out for now without sitting guys unless you think it's a really good spot to do so. There will be injuries, off days, and weird September shit that will probably eat into the GP and IP projections. If you do end up a little over the limit, I think you'd rather lose a position the last couple weeks of September when everyone is gassed rather than in the middle of June/July. At least, that's how I look at it.
-
I went from top three to bottom three in the matter of a few weeks. Losing three of my bastions to the IL for the majority of the year hasn't helped and it doesn't look like it's going to improve much this season. I'm not exactly hanging up my cleats/keyboard just yet as there's still plenty of time left, but I'm not forecasting a positive trend.
-
It really is amazing how closely bunched the league is. No one is running away with it. Pretty soon I'm going to start dropping in the standings. I'm having to pick spots to not play certain positions since I'm projecting for 180+ games played in some positions.
-
I've moved from 11th to 7th in about 2 weeks despite some questionable dealings. Watch out, first place, I'm only 900 points behind!

As I move into 1st place in position player production on a rate basis, I would like to note that my current full-slate lineup of 12 players is costing me $96. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Y'all were crazy in that draft.
-
What are starting pitchers? Every time I look up the position it just takes me to the IL list. :(
-
In fact, I have the second best position players and the best relievers, but due to my starters being SO bad (and a few injuries) I'm not even doing well overall.
-
At least you have good relievers!
-
6 homers given up in less than 14 innings. It's hard to be that bad. My starting pitching continues to be worse than could be reasonably anticipated.
-
Ugh. I'm on vacation and got drunk and bid on (and won) Murphy. I have no need for him, haha. Feel free to claim him!
