I’m cool with it. I was just wondering and thank you for the responses

TNTS pretty much nailed it. I prefer Bichette over Correa and it would be very hard to keep both with the salary cap. I understand Correa still has value so I got a cheap reliever who has a great chance at saves/holds for him. I would have gladly traded him to you for Kopech instead if I had thought you were interested? That said, I'd also really like getting a cheaper but still dependable 1B for Freeman and anything worth keeping that I can get for Arenado and Perez. Hit me up!

I can confirm that as I had a trade that would have given me Correa for one of my relievers. But chipper liked this trade more. Win some, lose some.

Looking at the the recent transactions, it looks like Chipper traded for Bichette recently and already had Kim so likely he is confident with those 2 at SS and his RP's look a little slim. So if his plan was to cut Correa, this way he at least got something back.

I dont like to veto trades but I was just curious to know the reasoning behind the Correa trade. This is not any accusation at all at any one and i hope we are all past that bullshit because I am. That being said, why give up a really good ss for a maybe a decent reliever at this point? Im absolutely positive you guys see something I dont and Im curious.

FIP, I think you are exactly correct. The mechanics are fine the way they are. glad I am taking the time to really dive deeper into the mechanics to improve. You just have to wrestle with it a little, at least for me. I think what JD shows was good but as I think about it, the way it is is fine. Thanks for all the help because I understand it so much more now.

To House: I don’t think you did anything intentional and you didn’t break any rules. I’m 6 players over. It’s an interesting question for sure

I think the game mechanics and rules are pretty clear. The offseason runs from arbitration to the keeper deadline, and the salary cap and roster limits are intentionally lifted to allow for team building. Once the keeper deadline comes, the expectation is that everyone has a legal roster in terms of salary and roster spots.

@JDeP&A That was a good read, thanks! I indeed started a bunch of prospect auctions at the end of the season assuming and planning that I'd have to drop to 40 players to participate in arbitration, but was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to make those decisions until the keeper deadline. If others assumed the same and this is against the spirit of the rule for us, I'll refrain from this in the future.

That’s an interesting read but one thing no one pointed out was the possibility of making arbitration less useful. What if other owners put money on guys you can’t keep anyway. That’s a big advantage over someone who has 42 roster spots as apposed to 61 say, for arbitration absorption. Just the fact you have more players to trade before keeper deadline. You just have to be down to at least 40 at that time. I don’t know but I am happy I figured out the part I was looking for, that’s a good quest
