Anyone else have a box next to your vote off player? I did and inquired to Niv and it appears to be an error. This is my first year in the vote off system but I had a salary box after Soto name and I inquired if that box was how I had to bid on Soto prior to free agency. The box would let me change his salary. I think I have my answer if anyone else has the same box could u let me know.

Zod -- I don't think we're bidding on anyone yet. You'll get the opportunity to bid on him in the auction in March. The way I understand the rules is as long as you win the bid, you'll also get a $5 discount on the auction price as Soto's current owner.
-
Commish I made a mistake on the Arb box on Soto can u get me the bid box back. I read the rules after and would like to submit a reasonable bit on him.

Everyone, six out of ten managers answered the poll in less than 24 hours, that's awesome. Five out of the six voted for the $50 Prize Tier, so I'm going to declare a quorum and formally change our prize tier for 2019 to $50.
Feel free to submit your response if you'd like, if the other four managers vote for $100 then we'll reconsider.

Does anyone know any managers who might be interested in joining the league right now and have some time to prepare for next season? Whiskey Rebels confirmed he is out for next season.

Oh wait, I see the last regular season week starts Aug. 27th, so I'd assume playoffs in September. I guess I was just expecting to find the "projected playoff bracket" like a lot of sites have.
-
Wait a minute...are there no playoffs in this format? Am I really slow in just realizing this?
-
Bluegrass, I don't know how you did it, or if he couldn't stop ignoring the glaring flaw in Ottoneu's current set up, but that's great news! Let's all give ourselves a collective pat on the back and keep our fingers crossed!

I’ve been chatting with Niv and it seems he’s planning to move to the 1500 IP cap for the season with 5 SP slots.
-
I tried to tell the admin the 2-SP slot limit sucked before the season began. I laid out exactly what was going to happen. He didn't listen and instead referred me to the one idiot who apparently convinced him to go with 2-SP slots. That guy proceeded to chime in and tell me how his years of fantasy experience (eight I think he said), led him to the wisdom that was the 2-SP over an innings cap or a starts per week limit. Anyone is free to copy and paste my original pre season post.

If anyone has ideas on a sp correction u can post in the community section. He is looking for ideas. I am pushing for a 1500 ip cap but I dont think he likes the idea. Open to any ideas tho.

Perhaps there's a self-correction coming if we all approach the draft with the same goal in mind, but IMO we should continue to raise the issue because the developer is just being stubborn.
-
A 3rd SP slot alone slightly mitigates the current problem, but only exacerbates the difference in value between SP and every other position, creating an even worse problem. If a 3rd SP slot is available, I'd invest even more heavily in SP during the draft next year to do everything in my power to ensure that each of those SP were filled every single day. The only reason I didn't do that this year is because I'm a noob and didn't identify that loophole.
-
Just venting here, but that's such a dumb rationalization for not fixing a stupid rule that is self-admittedly less than ideal.
-
The posting below was from the guy who runs Ottoneu. Just posting to keep everyone up to date...

Well, to your point, I think there will be a big correction in SP prices in the pre-season auction next season. If SP prices go up to match their value in H2H, then SPs will be distributed among teams more evenly.
Right now my thinking is to see how that goes and maybe open up a 3rd SP slot, because missing starts is not very fun. Allow the market to do most of the heavy lifting, etc. Limits, since they by their nature have to be ‘soft’ to an extent, don’t work as well in the H2H format.

Anyone else think sp needs a cap? I think a problem with the head to head scoring and the 2sp is that u can use unlimited sp spots to gain an advantage. Next year if this isn't changed I will be using all of me bench spots for sp. I looked at some teams in other leagues and they already have 1900 ip. I have been on Ottoneu for about 5 years in roto and points, but this is a problem I hope they fix. Any thoughts?

I'm on board with either a $50 or $100 buy-in next year as well.
I checked league activity and the only managers who have not logged in over the last three days are Los Angeles and Whiskey Rebels. I'll send them personal emails checking into interest increasing the buy-in next year and advise that's the direction most of the league is leaning towards.
-
I would be willing to go to a $50 league next year. Although Ottoneu has some obvious changes it needs to make, I've enjoyed the league and I think increasing the buy in will help attract/retain dedicated owners.

I think we'd be smart to set this to a $50 league knowing existing owners may need to subsidize the extreme rebuilds to attract new owners. $100 prob scares too many away.
-
My opinion is that I think we need to decide what kind of league fees we are going to do before sending out invites. I will go with what the Cornish decides I am hoping tho we go to $50 or $100 league.

I agree with Bluegrass in that we should start looking for replacement owners now if needed.

Which teams look abandoned? I'm thinking Los Angeles, Onbase and Whiskey going by lack of activity in player auctions and such. Are there others? Also hope owners of those teams respond if I'm mistaken and they still want to participate.
-
Should we start looking for a replacement owner(s) for any team(s) that seem unattended? Now is the time a new owner would want to start rebuilding.
