I send out a survey every year to see what dates everyone is available. I will send that out in the next week or two and our draft will be schedule for whatever time in March works with everyones schedule. Usually we have one 3-to-4-hour session for these drafts and that should be plenty enough time for our league.

Do we have any ideas when draft date will be?

Friendly reminder to renew and make cuts before the deadline. Looking forward to another great season!

$6 Taylor Rogers OTB, as well as speedy $5 Garrett Hampson, and $3 Triston Casas... Oh and Trout, Yelich, Ohtani OTB as well
-
We have all done something like that before, glad it was straightened out so quick.

Well that was quick! A huge thanks to Animals for being understanding when it was me who made the dummy of a mistake!
-
Hello, I fear I have to come to the league to ask you to fix a mistake of mine. During trade negotiations on that current trade thatβs currently approved, I accidentally clicked Luis Arraez instead of DJ LeMahieu when sending the trade. (There are a couple of back and forth I can use as proof that DJ was the get). Would the league be okay with nixing that trade? Itβs frustrating, but I use my phone and appear to have fat fingered this one. I sincerely apologize for the mix up.
-
All, with heavy hearts we've decided to drop out of this excellent Ottoneu league - we just don't have the time in these crazy days to give our best to the year-long format. Thanks everyone for the years of friendly competition!
-
Arbitration deadline is Saturday, for the couple teams that haven't done it yet.
-
sounds good sombrero. Rules seem fine and straight forward to me so no reason to fix something that isnt broken. if people have ideas to make the league better and enough managers agree then i would think we could vote from there. but i dont see any issues rn.
-
Also, I am ok with formalizing some of the rules but I donβt have the time to write a full blown league charter right now. Maybe we can default to standard rules and keep a running list of amendments as a note in the league. Then we can add to it as things come up and we vote and discuss

Youβve been a great addition to our league and will be missed. Many of us also have young families so we completely understand and wish you the best

you will be missed. primarily by the Eggs and the Animals.

Hey guys
I've been wrestling with this choice, and I think it leads to only one place before I get sucked back in: I'm going to drop out from all my ottoneu leagues.
I need to focus on my young family a little more. The time commit, especially with four leagues, got to be a little tough to manage this year.
I've enjoyed competing with you all over the last two season.
Thanks!

I suggest we formalize some of the items the rules leave at the discretion of the league. To me, the roster locking mechanisms that are in place by the system work well enough and only a handful of scenarios exist that would require any further action.

Rosters are locked. Commish, please remove Kole Calhoun and Brandon Marsh from my team.

Despite MB sneaking past and knocking me out of the money, I'm good with his solution.
-
also, nice rise to second at the end there master B. you kinda came out of nowhere. if the season was a few days longer i think u could have made a real push for first. Congrats
-
i also don't understand why covid would be an excuse for you to be able to sit with an illegal roster for over a week in April. The rest of the league played by the rules the entire time, did we not have to deal with covid too? If anything that time of uncertainty was even more advantageous for you to sit with an illegal roster and you should be penalized more harshly for that. Just read the rules and play by them like everyone else.
-
i don't care enough to keep bringing it up if nobody else in the league agrees with me. but since you have done this multiple times i think it's worth bringing it up since it clearly states in the rules this is illegal.
-
It does seem pretty clear to me that the intent of the rule is keep a fair landscape for every owner and much like MLB's rules around roster limitations, having more players on your roster than the rule allows is a competitive advantage. I would propose that we allow 48 hours to drop 2 players. Then if that's not done, the commish drops the last 2 players added.
-
Ok letβs keep it civil fellas. After looking at the ottoneu community board this issue has come up in other leagues and it comes down to the commissioners discretion. Iβm not the type to make the rules for all of us so Iβll put it to a vote and let the league decide.

I'm really surprised you're bringing up an instance when players were opting out daily and we had no idea if there would be a baseball season at all as an instance that I "did this before".

I propose the league members vote off two players ($2 salary or less to not be too harsh) so that his team is legal and complies with the roster regulations. I won't waste anymore time talking about this. Want to see if I'm the only one who thinks everyone should play by the rules. Thanks guys. Excited for the off season!
-
If nobody else objects to this I donβt really care. I just think itβs in bad sportsmanship that everyone else plays by the rules except him. And then instead of just taking the actions to make his team legal which is clearly the right and honest thing to do he makes excuses why he doesnβt have to. Thereβs obvious advantages to hoarding extra players that nobody else does. Since this isnt his first offense I think itβs necessary to penalize him which the rules state we can (and should).
-
you didn't make a trade. you saw your roster was illegal this morning and cut one guy and left it over by 2 players and then purposely didn't do anything until off season rosters locked tonight. that's illegal by rule. it's really clear.
-
Eggs- So, if someone completes a 2-3 trade in the offseason and it puts them above the player or salary limit, you expect them to cut a player before.... when?
Animals Lamp on

Scapegoats, and this may be semantics, but did I willingly go over "roster AND salary cap limits"? The rule says "and", not "or". And implies, to me, the spirit of the rule to be don't go over both without fixing it before (reasonable timeframe, given circumstance).

If anyone else has a problem with my team having 47/45 players on it between now and when arbitration begins, I will cut down within 48 hours. If anyone else thinks I routinely don't play by the rules, I will give up my team.

'at no time' includes april. and end of september. and october. it means 'at no time'
-
""c. At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner.""
-
yes ottoneu is year round.
-
In april, you mean when we had no idea if there would be baseball?
Animals Lamp on
September 28, 2020 12:52 AM
-
you did this in april too. sat with an illegal roster for over a week and claimed you hadn't logged in but when u check someone's team in ottoneu it tells you when they last logged in and that wasnt true, you were checking everyday. again, just asking that everyone play by the rules.
-
everyone else in the league plays by the rules except for you. ya if it was the end of the season and you were out of the race and didnt check for a few days fine. but that's not the case. you make more moves than anyone. just play by the rules, and you claerly don't intend to so i'm asking the commish to intervene and punish you this time so we dont have to go over this again.
-
""c. At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner.""
-
you were 3 players over the limit this morning before you logged in and cut one guy. leaving your roster purposefully 2 players over the limit.
-
Lastly, it is absolutely false that roster limits are in place during the offseason. Most rosters will be illegal when salaries increase until the day of final cuts.
Animals Lamp on
September 28, 2020 12:38 AM

Second, I don't think my roster has ever been illegal for more than a day, to say I "constantly log in and see (my) roster is illegal" is just not accurate.

If I'm reading rule D right, that is spicifically toward the dollar amount you pledge in a bid, and the fallout from that.
Rule C specifically deals with roster limits.

Thanks for bringing your opinion to a public space. First, there is ambiguity: d. Teams are allowed to bid such that they would go over roster or cap limits if they win the auction. If they do win the auction, they will have to get under roster and cap limits before they can set their lineups, make trades, or bid on other auctions.
Animals Lamp on

and yes roster caps are 100% in affect in the off season. why wouldn't every team roster 60 guys and pickup every prospect and every reliever that might have an opportunity to be a closer or start on the big league team and then decide who to cut in January. that's not true at all.
-
i know it's not that big of a deal it's just obnoxious that everyone else plays by the rules. you consistently log in and see your roster is illegal and do nothing about it. i would propose the rest of the league votes two $2 or less players off your roster to get it legal for the off season. i'm sure if we did that it won't keep happening.
-
""c. At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner.""
-
there's no ambiguity and this isnt the first time you've shown blatant disregard for the rule
c. At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner.
-
Good season everyone, and congratulations Eggs.
I am aware that my roster is over the limit. I will make my final cuts before arbitration begins. If you have an issue with this, my inbox is open. There is some ambiguity to the rules as my last adds were on the last day and my lineups wouldn't be affected by not being able to adjust my roster or start auctions. Roster and cap limits are not in affect during the off-season.

yes i also think the trade deadline came very quick this year. i know i wasn't ready to really mortgage my future to do a deal like that. like i said no issue with the deal. good convo tho.
-
No, it's all good. I would probably be in better shape this year and next without that trade, but you shoot your shot! I might have the room to carry some pieces away from that deal into next season, if you guys don't hammer me too hard in November.
