Agreed. Definitely want to stick with Roto because roster construction for H2H is very different.
-
I would vote to stick with roto as well. If we vote on H2H vs roto it should be for the 2021 season. Roster decisions have already been made related to the 1500 IP limit for season-long roto.
-
This question was not included on the rule change survey a few months ago so I guess the assumption was that we would stick with roto. If there are other owners interested in switching back to H2H we should probably make the decision soon since this would effect some decisions all owners have to make. I would vote to stick with a roto league.
-
Settings for 2020? Not sure if we wanted to run a poll around H2H or Roto points system this year, now that both forms have been used in previous years.

Congrats on the internship Eric! No problems with you staying in the league either
-
If anyone needs MI shoot me a message I've got some quality starting SS available!
-
Also if you win again we can just reassure ourselves that you were using proprietary analytics and feel better about our failure. But if you don’t win, we’ll have beaten a pro. Win-win!

Lol why would we kick you out? You’re now the person we get to use in stories that go “Yeah, I know a guy who works in baseball ops. No big deal.” As if I would give up that cultural cachet.

Congrats man! Best of luck in Milwaukee with the Brewers. Good organization!

Thanks for the well wishes folks: I will be working alongside their full-time analysts assisting in their various projects and reports which get sent to higher ups in baseball ops. The job posting at FanGraphs (which is how i heard about the job) is here: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/job-posting-brewers-baseball-research-and-development-analyst-and-intern/

Dude that’s awesome! What does the job entail?
-
Amazing accomplishment! Go get em!
-
I second Senior Squirrel.
-
Wow congrats!! That's super cool, and I have zero problem continuing to have you in the league!
-
Small update: I have recently accepted a summer internship in the front office of the Milwaukee Brewers. I thought I should mention this to all of you since I will have access to perhaps more advanced and proprietary data that the Brewers have. I know we do not play for money here but I wanted to volunteer this info because, while I don't think I will have any time to use their data to succeed in this league, if enough owners had a problem with it, I would step away from my team.
-
Sorry Santana got moved already, but I would still send the other 4 in a package to the best offer on Friday!
-
Outfielder Sweepstakes... I will trade all of Eaton ($19), Cain ($15), Pollock ($12), Santana ($7), and Duvall ($3) in a package to the best offer I get by Friday 1/17!

Looks like the link cutoff!
Here's the real one : https://doodle.com/poll/vtvx9tba39txbh97

Ok everyone, I've made the doodle poll. Consider each option a start time (so the 6-7 option means starting at 6, probably ending around 9 or a bit earlier). The options should report in your own time zone but please verify this (it should say somewhere at the top of the page.) I've only included Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for now but if we need to add more dates that's fine. Please complete this by Sunday the 19th so we can put this in the calendar asap.
Poll: https://doodle.com/poll/vtvx9
-
I'm in the central time zone.
-
I’m on the east coast and I’m good for any days except for Mondays (have a standing commitment each week at night). 8:30-9:30 (ET) starts are great for me but can make other times work too. Will look out for the poll!
-
As long as owners fill out the poll in a timely manner we should have pretty advanced notice of the draft date/time. The draft will certainly fit in one day. They usually take 2-3 hours with owners leaving intermittently once they fill out their roster.
-
I can do weekends, but I’ll need as much notice as possible so I can take the day off and get one of my staff to cover me. Along with that, it would be good if it could be a one day only draft. Sat/Sun are two of the busiest days for my kitchen.
-
Hey everyone. In the next few days I’ll make a doodle poll gauging availability for the auction draft. I’m assuming weekends will work best for most people so I will include Friday’s, Saturday’s, and Sundays. If weekends are bad for anyone please let me know. Additionally, maybe it’s just because I’m curious and have moved time zones myself, I was just wondering what time zones our owners are currently living in. The doodle poll should adjust for this, so this is just my curiosity.
-
I’m with Thunder Gun. I like the idea of before the auction draft because that way the AD can be held a little closer to opening day without worry of fitting in the MiLB draft
-
Post-cut deadline, pre-auction, slow draft would be my vote.
-
Post cut deadline is good for me. That takes care of the major issue I had. Timing of MiLB does not matter to me. Thanks.
-
Same boat as Flying Squirrels: post cut deadline but pre-auction

I still vote for the MiLB draft to be post cut deadline but pre-auction.
-
Ok so here’s what I’ll say: with the information about prospects without ML service time being available during the MiLB draft, would any voters who voted before on the previous poll like to change their vote to after?
-
Pretty much every top prospect is currently rostered so who is available will be determined whether the owners of those players want to keep them at what the market (either from the auction draft last year or in season auctions) deemed to be market value for the player. I’m good with either timing of the draft, mostly think it’s more fun to have something to do while we can’t trade after the Jan 31, ha
-
I’ve only drafted in mature leagues, so can’t really speak to the first MiLB draft but since this league is a few years old I don’t think it will be much of a problem. Sure, some prospects that are currently rostered will get cut and they’ll be available for the draft. I personally don’t think that’s a huge deal though since it should help with competitive balance for lower placed teams to pick up a nice prospect at $0
-
The Lindbergh Burrito Method said he has participated in leagues in the past where the minor league draft is held before the auction. I guess the question is: in your experience TLBM, has there been any problems with teams getting high value prospects for $0 at the draft? Since the only players who can be drafted are those with no major league service time, I'm still of the opinion this should not be too much of a problem.
-
Sorry for the delayed response. Although it has been decided, I was hoping the MiLB draft would be after the regular draft. Some prospects currently rostered might get cut and be available for the MiLB draft. Just a thought.
-
Glad to be here! 4th year player. Let's get the party started!
-
We have filled the vacancy for the owner of Peyton's Graceland and are back to 12 active owners!
-
Another update: For ease of prospective new owners, you'll notice I just reversed the previous cuts Peyton's Graceland made.
-
Two updates: 1) 9 out of 11 owners filled out the survey so far. 7 out of 9 voted to have the order of the draft be in the reverse order of this season's standings and 8 out of 9 voted to have the minor league draft before the auction draft. These are already majorities so that's the way we will do things.
2) I made an owner's wanted post regarding peyton's graceland. If you know anyone who might want to take over that would be great too!
-
I guess I assumed the minor league draft had to be live like the auction, but I guess there’s no reason for that. So yeah I’m fine with it being slow so long as it’s after.

and *hell yes* on the slow draft
-
Survey complete
-
Voted! Also super on board for the slow draft. Will there be a list of players like in the MLB draft?
-
Agreed on the slow draft!
-
A case could be made for both options regarding timing of the draft but PLEASE let’s do a slow draft
-
As far as swaying goes, I think the minor league draft needs to be after the regular auction. You can still draft minor leaguers in the auction, and deciding whether you want to use a 40 man spot and have the chance to overpay for their services instead of risking them getting taken in the minor league draft is an interesting strategic wrinkle.

The minor league draft can take place over many days, giving owners like 12 hours or so to make their pick and just announcing their pick on the draft board. There's no reason to force everyone to be at their screen at the same time since scheduling a draft is hard enough.
-
Well presumably we would do both drafts live, so we’d want to do them at the same time.

Well, holding the MiLB draft before the auction will give us something to do between keeper deadline and auction...ha

I’m legit torn on this vote. Sway me! Haha

Voted! Thanks!
