The draft would take far too long if we allowed owners to try to game the draft by intentionally skipping their nominations. If an owner violates this rules too many times we reserve the right to kick that player from the draft. That's all i wanted to mention, let me know if you have any questions about the draft in the meantime.
-
Hi folks, Just wanted to give a friendly reminder that our draft is this Sunday starting at 7 PM Eastern. I anticipate the full draft will last about 3 hours, maybe a bit less, but some teams have less spots to fill than others so some teams could be wrapped up within an hour and a half even. An important reminder about draft etiquette: We do require that you nominate a player every single time your turn comes around.
-
bummed to see a streak in this league will come to an end: with Diamond Dawgs owning Brandon Belt currently I will not be able to draft him in a 4th consecutive draft, lol. Curious if any other teams have players they've drafted in every single auction draft of this league.
-
Yep. After we finish the draft this Sunday we can start the MiLB draft shortly thereafter. Teams will get 24 hours or so to announce their picks on the forum here (we can be lenient since there will be plenty of time between the draft and opening day). Teams will be allowed to draft players until their MiLB roster hits 5 total players at which point there subsequent picks will be skipped. Thunder Gun Express was the only team to keep 5 MiLB players so they will not have any picks in the draft.
-
Hope everyone is well. Will there be a MILB draft this year again?
-
March 7 works fine...I'll make sure Phil is well prepared.
-
Thanks. Hopefully we will be finished with the rolling blackouts in Texas by then.
-
Hey everyone. I've set the draft date for Sunday March 7 from 7-9 eastern time, which all but two of us voted for in the poll and I already checked that those two owners can also make this time work. Please let me know asap if for whatever reason you cannot make this time, otherwise good luck with your preparations for the draft!
-
If weekend evenings are bad for you let me know as soon as possible so I can make a different poll with different options. Please fill this out at your earliest convenience so we can get a date set asap. Here's the poll: https://doodle.com/poll/ar8ugt9nss5zikpi?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link
-
Hey Folks, With the season looking like it has every intention to start on time, I've made a doodle poll to try to set a draft date. For now I've just listed fri/sat/sun options in the month of march since we should be able to find an option from those. Times should hopefully display in your time zone but do make sure when you open the poll that the time zone is correct. As the poll notes I anticipate this draft will last about 2 hours at the longest given the number of keepers.
-
Still it wouldn't hurt if you could message me generally what days and times you think will work best for you so I know what options to put on such a poll. Also if you could please remind me what time zones you all are in so I can plan accordingly.
-
Thanks everyone for having your cuts in on time. A few things of note: Please check your MiLB roster is correct in our spreadsheet, as we've noted over the last few weeks, there have been a few mistakes here and there when it comes to removing players from rosters. I want to send a doodle poll out soon to start finding a draft time but I also want to wait a bit to see if there's any news on a delayed start to 2021. I'll check back in on that in about a week or so.
-
Phil and I thank you for the MiLB draft information. Phil doesn't drink coffee and was confused that a single game in The Show would make a guy a non MiLB player. On my MiLB roster, please erase Estevan Florial, as I think his presence there was an oversight. I will retain the other two on the list, Groshans and Freeman, leaving us three picks in the MiLB draft.
-
Here's how the MiLB will work: After our auction draft we will hold the MiLB draft on the message board here, each team will get 24 hours or so to make each pick. Teams will able to participate in each round until they have 5 total players on their MiLB roster. So for example if you keep 2 players on your MiLB roster, then you will be allowed to draft in rounds 1-3 of the draft and after that since you will have 5 players on the roster, your pick will be skipped in the following rounds.
-
And while I'm sure most people know this, just wanted to say please make sure you all make your last cuts by 11:59 EST this evening, the team you have at midnight eastern will be the team you take to the auction draft. Likewise announce any cuts from MiLB rosters on this message board by then. Also be sure to pay your $20 to the site to keep your team active if you have not already.
-
The requested cuts have been made. Re: the question about florial, since he has MLB service time if he is cut from your roster he can only be drafted in the auction draft and is not eligible to be selected in the MiLB draft. The only players who can be selected in the MiLB draft are those without ML service time. Now if you have a player on your 40-man roster who has no MLB service time, cutting him would leave him eligible for the MiLB draft.
-
Please cut George Valera, Travis Swaggerty, and Lazaro Armenteros from my MILB Roster, thanks.
-
I will cut Jhoan Duran and Jackson Kowar from MiLB roster. Thanks.
-
MiLB roster question: I inherited 3 players on my MiLB list from Giancarlos team (renamed Phil's); One of them, Estevan Florial, came up for a cup of coffee with NYY in August, one game with 3 PAs. He's now on my 40 man roster. Does he come off the MiLB list and I must decide to keep or cut on my 40 man? Or does he stay on my MiLB roster if I cut him from the 40 man? This may be obvious to all of you...thanks for entertaining the query...I'm asking for Phil :-)
-
Entertaining offers for those on my trade block if anyone is interested in last minute deals! Disclaimer: these players are not on my cut list, no complete low ball offers please!
-
I will cut Xavier Edwards and Miguel Vargas from MiLB roster: these changes already reflected in the spreadsheet.
-
All 3 cuts are now reflected on the spreadsheet.

SR&K cuts Hunter Bishop, Ronaldo Hernandez & Bryston Stott

There’s some reporting that AZ wants to delay the start of spring training because of Covid cases there. It’s about to get interesting
-
hey everyone. just a quick reminder that you must cut players from your roster by 11:59 pm EST this coming Sunday. Also please announce any cuts from you MiLB roster here on the message board by then as well. After the cut deadline we can start planning a draft date. It does appear that the season will start on time this year, but nevertheless we should keep potential delays in mind when planning and consider trying to have as late a draft day as possible for this reason.
-
with our trade going through, I have moved Daniel Lynch onto my MiLB roster on the spreadsheet.

Thanks!

just go ahead and post who you are cutting here on the message board and then I will get around to updating the spreadsheet.

Regarding MILB Draft: Where do we mention if we would like to drop someone from our current 5 before the final cuts?

Ha thats funny, I didn't even register that!

Good to know. Thanks Banter!

Shane McClanahan has zero service time, so I’d agree he shouldn’t be put on your roster.
Also, in today’s Squirrel-Burrito trade, I notice that Lindor was traded for Andres Gimenez *yet again*

Yeah I figured it would fall into that category. Would be curious to know if a player’s service time starts when they do enter in the postseason.

Excellent question. I'm inclined to say no because postseason stats don't show up in the record book so any player who has only seen postseason time will look like a MiLB available player when any of us look them up on fangraphs, baseball-ref, or whatever site you use. Seems like quite the hassle to have to check if players have any postseason stats as well. If anyone thinks otherwise please chime in!
-
Thanks commish. mcClanahan made the postseason roster for Rays. Does that count?

i believe that spreadsheet is up to date but please do check if any of the players on your roster received mlb playing time this year. if so they should be promoted to your actual roster and removed from the MiLB roster.

Would you mind posting the link to access the MiLB rosters again?
-
Glad we could all agree on this. Just an fyi you should post any cuts you make from your minor league roster here on the league message board and then I will edit the league spreadsheet. I'll take this opportunity to remind everyone again that how many players you cut determines how many players you can draft in the next MiLB draft. Each team can only draft until their MiLB roster reaches 5 players so if you enter the draft with 2 players still on your MiLB roster you can only draft 3 players.
-
Jan 31 is fine with me also. Thanks.
-
Yeah think 1/31 makes the most sense
-
I'm fine with it being on January 31

Happy New Year everyone! Ben's Banter raised an interesting question about cutting MiLB roster guys. Just as a reminder, when the MiLB draft comes around, each owner will only be allowed to draft players until they hit 5 MiLB players (so if you have 5 and don't cut anyone, you won't be able to participate). The natural question we need to ask then is what is the deadline to cut MiLB players. I think making it Jan. 31st as well makes the most sense but I am open to listening to other ideas.
