• When you cut a player you take a 50% penalty rounded up. If that player is claimed on waivers or added by another team, you get that money back. However, you can (after 30 days) start a new auction for that player and then immediately cut him again. For example, you cut a $12 player and take a $6 hit. In a month you can start a new auction, cut the player, the penalty becomes $3

• You have a 40 man roster and $400. The point of cap penalties are to make you think twice about bidding up a player you may not really need only to cut him the next day.
