From the manager who dealt Yelich

I used to be of that opinion, that vetos should be reserved just for cases of collusion. But after seeing the last month + worth of trades across the leagues i'm in, just can't agree with that anymore. Sure, Yelich could get hit by a bus tomorrow or have some awful thing happen, or just be terrible in 2020. But at current present value, Yelich was treated like he's Tommy Pham, not the best hitter in fantasy baseball. Don't blame you at all for accepting the deal, but haven't heard the rationale

No, the veto option for you is only for collusion. For me, the veto option is for the benefit of the league as a whole. Trades where someone is not getting the full value for their stud players harms the league in multiple ways. It changes the economics in trades where studs never go for full value. It separates the teams lower in the standings to the ones higher in the standings more and more. It also usually means that the team trading the stud will have another rebuild year.
-
The veto option is for collusion. It is not there to vote against a trade just b/c one doesn't "like" a trade. This is why I was the only owner to vote to approve the previous Yelich deal, b/c there was no collusion. None of us can tell the future and if someone claims they can tell how well a trade will do moving forward...that person is lying. Just go look at previous trades in this league, many looked great/terrible at the time and then drastically changed as time passed.
-
I tried trading for him earlier...obviously failed...but would’ve definitely tried again with new ownership. Either way, to each their own and if you don’t think the trade is fair then veto it. That’s what the veto option is there for, right?

That's the other side of this. How many teams even knew Yelich was available? I wouldn't have entered the bidding for him but wild for only 1 or a few teams to even be aware you wanted to move him is odd.

Damn i wish you would of put him on the block i would of offered you something good smh
-
"If you wanted him then you should have messaged me and put out some offers. The best offer I had prior was conforto and paddock."
Nobody forced you to trade Yelich, nothing wrong with keeping the current best player in the fantasy verse going into 2020. You took one of the best assets available to anyone in fantasy and gave him away for pennies.

By the way, what's the point of the character count on this when it cuts off when you still have characters?!?!?!?
-
I'm 100% not in the "I could have offered you more for Yelich" camp and coming from "it's a terrible idea that you trade a Trout-level player at less than $40 for guys that may get outscored by Yelich and two $1 players" camp. Just because a team is rebuilding doesn't mean they have to give away their undervalued, high-priced best player. If you got a haul like Devers, Acuna, and Paddack, for example, okay. But, you got a old, injured pitcher, an okay SS, and a 3B with a torn
-
Yelich is far and away a great asset for a rebuilding team can have right now. Not one that someone should be looking to move.
-
If you wanted him then you should have messaged me and put out some offers. The best offer I had prior was conforto and paddock. Imagine if I had accepted that the hell it would have raised. If you want a guy go out and get him. I didn’t get any messages from any of you guys about him and I’m in last place by a landslide. Perfect opportunity. So sorry you missed out. I’m happy with my deal. If you don’t approve veto. That’s your call. I made the best move for my team.
-
Frustrating to say the least. An ace w/ health concerns who will be 34 and a couple young guys who may not outperform their current price points doesn’t seem to be close to the return Yelich alone should command. If one is willing to trade a top 5 overall piece, how do you not shop around to get the best possible offer?
-
I'm not sure how trading literally the best hitter in FGPts for three guys with huge question marks for 2020 makes your team better, but to each their own.
-
Just feels like you should have gotten a lot more back for a top 3 fantasy player. Kluber and Andujar are huge question marks.

I don’t think anyone was going to cut him at that price. Look at recent trades for yelich and I feel like a got a good return for him. An ace and 2 young guys with mlb experience. This deal added depth and made my team better overall for next season.
-
yea that's a weird one, wish i knew Yelly was on the block

So, why exactly are people in a hurry to trade Yelich? For the record, he is outperforming Trout at half the price. Like I don't know how that isn't keepable...
-
Sean Doolitte...sheesh!

Hey guys Joey Votto and Alex Dickerson is still out there in free agency if your looking for more bats
-
The more possible trades the rest of the month, the better. In the famous words of George Constanza, "You wanna get nuts? Let's get nuts!"
-
Judge is available for trade. But, like Princess Snowflake (still seems weird to type), I ain't taking y'all's AAA maybes.
-
Oh, and for the record, I am not going to take back a bunch of prospects in any rebuilding trade as that is not my thing.
-
Open to selling off my higher-priced assets to a competing team if the price is right. Obviously not looking to move someone like Alonso or any really nice 2020 asset. Flexible on the return as long as it would help my team for 2020. If interested, feel free to send over offer or a message. Thanks.
-
He told me no via Slack, haha.
-
I assume that means that you did not actually want Desclafani. If that is correct, do you want me to remove the cap penalty since you did not start that auction?
-
The only one that slipped by me was Desclafani (who i just cut), i did go after Shoemaker even though the previous owner started that one. Should be all set now.

Please let me know, Matt, if there are any auctions that you win that you did not start or bid on like the Shoemaker one. I will remove them without a penalty since they were started before you took over unless someone takes exception to that. However, I think that is the fair thing to do since they may not be guys you want. I believe it will only relate to today's auctions as I am thinking all of the ones after today were not started by the old manager of that team.
-
Welcome to the league Matt!
-
Hey everyone! Gonna update my trade block in just a little bit but feel free to message me about any player even if they’re not listed. Always happy to talk trade!

We have a new owner for Half Way Crooks. Please welcome Matt. Good having you here.
-
Hello! Welcome aboard and nice to have you here! We appreciate you not wanting to make trades worth a veto, haha.
-
Hey guys. Just took over this team. Working on trade block updates. Feel free to send over offers or message me if you want anyone. I doubt I package yelich and Castillo for what the previous owner did!
-
Ok. I understand. I would like to say that both trades are very fair and I we never had any discussions to collude. Actually we have been going back and forth for 2 weeks now.
Sucks he is out.
-
Sorry Maximum Effort Rebuild, but it's either do that or have the trades be reversed if the new owner doesn't want those trades.
-
So, I am going to have to step in here. I'm going to cancel the trade just made. Half Way Crooks informed me that he is going to leave after the season, but if I can find someone before that, he would leave when that happens. I posted the team on Slack and had some interest. I let the first trade slide, but I cannot let it keep happening if someone else is going to take over. So, we really can't have trades being made between a team that may leave at any moment.
-
If anyone out of contention is looking for future talent, send me an offer. I have a ton of prospects and young players. I'm looking for reasonably priced guys for 2020. My trade block is updated
-
Full teardown in effect - most everyone needs to go!
-
Lastly. I would like to say that he should've spoke up before there were 9 veto selections
-
That's the first trade I ever vetoed. Seemed way too light
-
Sorry that you feel that way. But, I wish you the best in your future endeavors. I will start the search for a new owner.
-
I appreciate the veto. I have never veto'd a single trade for as long as I have played dynasty baseball. I can assure you I had a plan with what I was doing. Go ahead and say I did not and it was dumb or whatever. The other rebuilding jobs in my other leagues say different. And lastly, That is the absolute first time a trade of mine has been veto'd. find another owner. Good luck to all of you.
-
Whelp, that (veto) sucks.

Hello Kramerica, can you please explain your reasoning for that trade as that return seems light for Yelich and Castillo? Thanks.

Wow. That's a crazy trade
