Based on my team, the way to "hurt" me most would be to add $ to Betts $55 or Lindor $43, hoping for me to cut and them being available in draft (I wont cut either this year). Both perform above or close to their current values.
Or, add money to K Marte, Meadows, or my stud SPs, since they are clearly below their auction prices.
Those are much better plays than adding money to prospexts such as Royce Lewis (already $4) and Kirilloff ($6)
-
For example, using my team as an example. I was rebuilding, so I already shedded my overpriced guys who are most likely cuts (e.g. a $60 Stanton or $40 Votto). So, don't need to worry about that.
-
Hey guys. I know some are new to Ottoneu. So a few tips on arbitration. It's usually not a good strategy to put $ on prospects who are more than 2 years away and guys who are obvious cuts. The point of this is to put $ on players who are undervalued and will be kept or guys who are borderline keeps and you want them cut and sent back to player pool for auction.
-
We have a couple guys new to Ottoneu
-
Arbitration starts tomorrow. If you don't know, every team much put money on other teams (up to $3 max). You have about a month to do this. Basic strategy is to put $ on best 2020 teams and players you either want to be dropped or studs who are well below value. GL.
-
GL everyone. I look forward to wheeling and dealing.
Remember, arbitration starts next week.
-
Also, everyone, this will be my first year as commish of this league. I have a ton of experience as commish and always looking for new innovations. With that, does anyone have any proposed bylaws they would like to vote on.
The only rule I have for the league is that your team cannot be red (over cap space/more than allowable players) when the season ends. This wasn't a problem this year but it is frowned upon in other leagues and will not be allowed here.
-
Hi Luke. I believe you are the 4th new manager for next year. Seems like all the good managers stayed and some of the bad apples are gone. Looking forward to next year. Good luck.
-
Hey y'all. I'm Luke. Royals fan in Salt Lake City. I'm happy to venture on this spiritual journey with my team by starting in the basement and pouring just enough money in the club and hopefully win once in a few decades to justify my original decision to join...hit me up with any trade offers, etc. I'm willing to talk on the worst of days but my roster needs work so I won't turn anything down out of hand. But apparently Yelich is gonna need a lot in return.
-
Hey guys, arbitration starts in 6 days. Everyone remaining plans to stay right? Looks like we got an owner for Kramerica. Laid back and easy going guy, like all of us unless someone is trying to make a really bad trade for Yelich....
-
One more team to go. He has some nice pieces, surprised it hasn't been scooped yet
-
We got rid of the riff raff
-
Welcome. Going be a fun season.
-
Hey what's up guys, I'm excited to play in this league. I've played in one other Otto league 2 season ago. I just wanted to say hi to y'all and let's have a fun season.
-
I will have it filled before arbitration
-
Okay. 1 more team. Kramerica again...
-
Okay. I filled the 4 spots. We good unless someone else is leaving
-
If anyone else is leaving let me know asap. I have a few owners interested in joining
-
Welcome also the new owner of kramerica
-
We have 1 new owner, Dave. He will be taking over princess team. Welcome Dave
-
Okay. I will remove those owners and try to find replacements. Good luck
-
Was planning on returning until the league got veto happy. So, I will not be returning either.
-
Was planning on returning but realistically i need to cut down another team. Given i had the least amount of time with this one, i'm going to sadly peace out. I'll hang around for arb though obviously.

I will not be returning.

👍

Thanks for stepping up, Maximum! I'll add you as a co-commish now. If anyone else wants to co-commish before I leave, please let me know. I'll stay to get arbitration started for my team unless you have someone wanting the team before then.
-
Or co commish is anyone wants to do it too
-
I'll be commish
-
Say it isn't so Ben
-
Thanks. Jack Flaherty and Gerrit Cole led me to the promise land. Great battle down the stretch!

I wanted to let you all know that I will not be coming back to this league next season. Because of this, the league will need a new Commish, so please let me know if you want to be the new Commish to keep the league going. You can message me if you are interested. I will stay to do arbitration if need be.
-
Congratulations to Big Gulps on the victory and to ROTY and Takasago for the other money spots!
-
Hmu for early trade deals, thanks
-
Since my team has tanked the last few days, if anyone wants to make a late trade for deGrom and/or Turner, I have nothing to do tonight.
-
That is a good point about yellich. I'm arbing him the max $3 in every league. Now tatis is going to get it all here
-
I am attaching a link to a google doc for my comments on everything. 500 characters doesn't explain why I made the deal. Whether you like it or not, it was my team to manage. Feel free to read. I will leave it here and then be done with this. Good luck the rest of the way gentlemen. I'll hopefully put a better product on the field next year. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mmXfhNEJw_cp1d16vpYPUxqUzvmzPUSMl3NQ_KdG9IA/edit?usp=sharing
-
And what blows my mind is he wanted both my cheap Snell and Buehler and then accepts this deal. C'mon. What's really going on?
-
It's really weird to me to trade $38 Yelich without asking for everyone's best offer.

Yea that stuck me as weird too. I would get that deal way more. Not sure I would have said anything tbh if a Yelich for conforto and paddack deal came across my inbox

I would also like to say that cheap conforto and Paddack is a better return than the pending trade.
-
I think we are going to have to agree to disagree. Or just disagree ;-)
-
This guy has been in the league for less than 2 months. Is he even staying after this trade? If not, that trade should not go through
-
Meh, “it makes my team better” without anything major accompanying it doesn’t really justify much. We’re not talking about abstract things here. Players have numerical values and point totals. Fairly easy to show how this is wildly lopsided. Again I don’t want Yelich. This isn’t a “well I didn’t get him so this isn’t fair”. It’s just a weird deal.

Not saying that Kramerica will do this, but another problem with trades like this is sometimes the player does a trade like this, looks at their team at renewal, and just goes, "Screw it, I'm not repaying for this team." Then, you have a team that may be tough to fill. That's why, in my opinion, vetoing a trade that you think can have ramifications down the line is best for the league.
-
Princess, I mostly agree with your example about DeGrom...I just disagree that the league knows better than the DeGrom owner what is better for his/her team. It's not up to the rest of the league to decide what is best for the DeGrom owner when the rest of the league has a financial stake in the outcome. This is a classic case of a conflict of interest.
-
Now, let's say I want to sell deGrom today because I don't want to keep him. He is not going to return full value today. If I feel like I have to deal him no matter what, I am going to be stuck taking something like (just throwing out names here without looking at teams) Jose Berrios, Dansby Swanson, and Tommy LaStella, that's probably not going to help me in 2020 more than just keeping deGrom and finding two $1 players. My team is going to be weaker in 2020 than it was in 2019.
-
@Half Way..Kramerica did explain his rationale when he stated "I made the best move for my team." You don't have to agree with his rationale, but he did give it. When we start telling other owners that we know what is better for their team than they do..this, again, goes back to my slippery slope point. It's a dangerous game when we start telling other adults what is best for them. Just look at any example from daily life and I think we will recognize that.
-
No worries as I am not personally taking it as an attack. However, I think poor trades sets a league down a worse slippery slope. The older a league gets, the less competitive it gets. I have seen this multiple times in Ottoneu. Trades like this makes leagues less competitive for all 12 owners. It also makes it less fun because similar offers start piling in after one like this does.
-
one doesn't win**. It cut me off to, Princess. Also, I enjoy this discussion. I don't want anyone to take this as a personal attack.
-
The free market economy resets with each trade and how each owner perceives value. When we start dictating what's better for everyone, or what "full value" is perceived as, then we start going down a very slippery slope. Full value means different things to different owners. For ex: Devers and Acuna for Yelich would never happen b/c Dev and Acu are too good. Fantasy sports is not about fair, it's about winning, and if one is not good enough to properly rebuild a team then one doesn't w
