So looks like we're all set? I'm gonna create a Facebook Group or something tomorrow (if it's not a problem that I'm getting into some of our commish's responsibilities or something!), so everybody feel free to let me know your facebook names so I can invite you! :-) Obviously it's not like we have to do that, so if you don't feel like doing that, no worries, I just think it should be better and more practical to go this route... Hope everyone's doing well, greetings from Prague!
-
Cool, looks like the draft dates are set and the league is full then :-) By the way, feel free to check out (and add to) our league document for some background info on the owners here (favorite teams, location, etc.): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wyAFMfhH3PZKJWn-nkzk_SwDNAUmYoxdGirLKUdJ0rU

I can make that work. It's 11 my time (in Oregon, U.S.) but that works!
-
Hey man, welcome in our league! I'd gotten two responses before your entry, but no one obviously bit in time :-) I love that you instantly left a message. It would've been perfect of course if you were a rookie, but adding an active owner is as good as it gets, so feel free to call this league home... After answering the following question! Are you able to draft both on March 19th and 26th 2pm EDT?

Hello, I just took over this team. I'm not a rookie completely, I have one other team that I have had for one year, but I also am not very good at Ottoneu (better in yahoo, espn). Let me know if this is a problem!
-
This should do the trick, thanks for notifying: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wyAFMfhH3PZKJWn-nkzk_SwDNAUmYoxdGirLKUdJ0rU

Mr.Commissioner, I'd like you to check on the google spreadsheet file. I can't open it.
-
Great stuff! I've updated Anaheim's spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wyAFMfhH3PZKJWn-nkzk_SwDNAUmYoxdGirLKUdJ0rU) with draft confirmations and basically we require only 1 confirmation: from our newest owner. I've PM'ed him and invited him to join the conversation on the board, but he seems not keen to reply to either. And since I can see that he's come online several times this week I'm strongly considering kicking him. Just an FYI for all. To be continued.

Hi all, let's get myself involved in this conversation. Sundays in March are ok for me, 1900 CET would be a perfect time!
-
Hi all, sorry for being MIA - I was at a week-long conference and not on a laptop much (there's no app for Ottoneu, is there?). Sundays in March should work best for me.
-
So in Korea that will be early monday morning. Hope that works for him.

Thanks for the dedication, Anaheim. Sounds like we can make this work! March 19th and 26th, both days starting 2pm EDT. For the Europeans this means on March 19th the draft will start at 19.00 CET, since our daylight savings start the 26th while the American version start the 12th.

If it begins at 2 p.m. ET, then it will be early evening in Europe and early mornimg in Korea. Not a big problem for all of us. Whenver we set the draft time, I should do some morning shifts to sort thing out, which I'm more than wiĺling to do.
-
Hi guys. These Sundays are fine for me as well. Looking forward to it! How about the start times? I prefer to do it in the evening as well. That would mean the Americans and Canadians have acceptable times as well (noon or 2pm ET?), but then our friend in Korea will have to do an all nighter. Any thoughts?
-
19th en 26th are ok as long as it starts in the evening (CET)

To be clear: right now we're aiming for March 19th and 26th. I believe we've had 5 confirmations so far (Campo, Kershaw, Anaheim, Cool Whips and myself), let's turn that number up!

@Sonny: I wholeheartedly agree. I'm not sure if the new owner is a rookie, so I asked him in a PM. It might not be a biggie if he turns out to have a bit of experience, but ideally that's not the case. Also I'm down with the Facebook group idea, perhaps we can set this up if we've come up with a league name? Not sure if everyone will be active on Facebook, but it should be fun/easier for those who will.

Hey, just an idea, wouldn't it be better to create some Facebook conversation or something like that? I guess it would be easier to communicate, what do you guys think?
-
I play 2 ottoneu leagues. The other league I play has had the draft date set on March 18th and 25th for the time being. What about holding our draft on two Sundays, 19th and 26th?
-
Uh, first obstacles in our way! Let's find some rookie to fill the vacancy, if possible, I think it would be for the best. And the draft dates you suggested look fine by me, as far as it's set in stone this far ahead, shouldn't be a problem :-)
-
Please abandon my team. I have too many drafts to take care of to do 2 days for one league. Good luck all
-
@Chamber: On the contrary, splitting is recommended because the first draft takes about 8 hours. If you're sure about dropping out, then I will abandon the team.

No rookie, and I am in 5 leagues this year, and I really believe you cannot do the draft in 2 sessions. If you do 2 sessions I will have to drop out because of conflicts with other leagues. If you do 2 sessions please abandone my team
-
As far as I know, you cannot do the draft in 2 sessions. You should send a note to support to see if that can be done, but I do not think so
-
The 18th and 25th are perfect for me. Schedule it as late as possible (Dutch time) so I can combine it with watching the NCAA Basketball tournament :)

Like you've said, your experience will probably come in handy. One mistake I think I made has been to not find draft dates as soon as possible, because understandably the activity on the board has died down a bit in the meantime.
So it says our draft date is on March 5, but actually no draft date has been set. Ideally we'd have the 1st session during the weekend of March 18th and the 2nd during the weekend of March 25th. Let's try and figure out if those dates the ones.

Welcome, Andy! Glad we've been able to fill the vacant spot that fast, saves a lot of potential headaches. A quick overview of the league: it's a league with about half of the owners consisting of Dutchmen (colleagues of mine) and the other half seems to be from all around the world. We're all in ottoneu for the first time. If I'm reading the tea leaves correctly you're probably not a rookie, right? Not that that's a problem, just for clarification purposes :-)

By the way, draft day is fine
-
Just took over win one. It will be nice to start a league from the beginning. Drewville I have been a commish before so if you have any problems or questions do not be afraid to ask. For our World league I live in Illinois north of Chicago.
-
Turns out Timmy RedLeg just didn't want to be in the league anymore, as he's already found a new league.

As some of you have said before, finding a draft date will be a challenge but I have no doubt we'll succeed in finding one. Because of the different timezones we're looking at weekends as the most probable options so that hopefully no one has to draft during work.
Finally, Miky10 said we should do something about the league name and I agree. So hit us with your best suggestions and we'll pick the best one!
Cheers

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well in 2017, not in the least because our next goal is to find a draft date :-) Unfortunately we're going to have to find one without Timmy RedLeg as he's leaving the league. Good luck fulfulling your new commitment and thanks for giving the league a chance, Tim!
As for the consequences, I'll have to find a new owner for the league and will do so as soon as possible. The moment the league is full again, we'll go ahead and pin down two draft dates.

Also, I don't know the protocol for when someone has to drop out, so if there's anything I need to know on my end just let me know. Thanks!
-
Hey guys, unfortunately I am going to have to drop out of this Fantasy Baseball League,(Holland Series), do to a recent commitment. I will not be able to be involved enough to stay competitive which is not fair to you guys or myself. I wanted to drop out as soon as possible with the hope that it will allow ample time to recruit another owner. I directly messaged the commissioner but felt the need to reach out to everyone.apologize if there is any inconvenience and wish everyone luck this season!
-
I say we go ahead and start the draft today. I nominate... Sorry, getting a little anxious.
-
Trey should be able to answer your question. The rules don't say there's another draft option from what I read.
-
Has anyone ever participated in a slow auction draft? I never have, and don't even know whether that's an option with ottoneu, but could help bypass the difference in time zones.
-
I strongly recommend 'Trout Almighty' for my own sake :) plus I've edited the google spreadsheet where I added the current times in our time zones and the tentative draft starting time. Have a look at it and let's hammer out the best time to begin the draft(it needn't be done in a short time, though)
-
Oh, so we've got Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Korea, Canada and United States. So cool! Also, no MLB franchise has 2 fans among us, sweet! Now we should definitely do something about that League Name :P
-
Ok good. It sounds like you have been through it before, this is my first rodeo.Im definitely looking forward to the draft.
-
Though I'm not the commissioner, I can answer your question. The biggest challenge would be setting auction draft date and time. As far as I know, draft is known to take about 8 hours. Because of the time zone where I belong, the other league I play had the draft date set on two days and I'm going to do early morning shifts(5 p.m. in EST) for that. I suppose we can figure out when to set the draft date.
-
Mr. Commissioner. I'm assuming the different time zones will not create any league issues? Forgive me,because I know you are aware of it,I jus didn't know if there were any obvious challenges do to the different time zones.???
-
I've created a google spreadsheet to make our lives easier. I think it'll be better if all of us can share some information no matter when and where. Go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wyAFMfhH3PZKJWn-nkzk_SwDNAUmYoxdGirLKUdJ0rU/edit?usp=sharing
