  • Hi All, we've reached 8 total votes on the rule change survey. All 8 were for removing the customized rule and following the ottoneu default on in-season bids. So let's consider the rule abolished, and keep our fingers crossed things clear up enough for this season to happen.

  • See link for a place to vote on the rule: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JC285R6 We don't have a mechanism or league constitution for these, so let's require a 2/3 majority (8 votes) to change to help ensure that rules don't change too frequently.

  • Hey sorry, so I have been slammed with work due to this COVID thing while trying to isolate with a one year old. I've seen these messages but didn't have a chance to reply. I agree that this situation is my fault for not communicating, so I'm going to move Newcomb back to Smashers. As for the rule, I have no skin in the game since I didn't introduce it and obviously struggle to enforce it properly. With baseball on indefinite pause, this is as good a time as any to vote on it.

  • I also don’t see why we can’t play standard Ottoneu rules which would simpler for everyone. And can we do something about Drewville who has clearly quit?

  • I honestly didn't mean to cause an argument but was really trying to iterate in the spirit of fairness this should be communicated to new owners up front. It is a house rule that goes against the software and the official rule V(d) also states: "Teams are allowed to bid such that they would go over roster or cap limits if they win the auction. If they do win the auction, they will have to get under roster and cap limits before they can set their lineups, make trades, or bid on other auctio

  • I didn't realize the acquisitions were made by new owners. In that case we could allow it for now. But at least from now on the rule is known. I'm in favor of the rule. The ottoneu software does not enforce it but the official rules state "At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner." If you want to acquire a player you just have to make sure you have roo

  • Personally I don't like the rule because it means I would have to drop a player before I know whether i won the bidding.
