I am still looking to make a deal.
-
I made some offers. Let me know ASAP.
-
lol; well I was 2/14 in trades during the season. So I feel you. But I did a lot of work after I was out of it to set myself up for this season (and have just made a trade) so I might not be active so much now. But feel free to peep my trade page, it is up to date.

There were only 2 trades made in season last year. I am hoping to make some trades and buck that trend.
-
I am looking to make a trade. Make me an offer. I will make offers as well.

With 7 votes, we will have a 10 start cap this season. The masses have spoken.

Sure there are pitfalls because of what happens in real MLB but it's worse when the pitfalls are in our rules that can be changed.
-
It happened enough to be a problem. It is a big deal when you can only use 2 pitchers a day and you can't use the rest of your best because they pitched the same night. That is a big part of my point. If more than two of your best pitchers pitch in the middle of the week you are only left with the end of the rotation for the weekend.Should there are pitfalls because of what happens in real MLB but it's worse when the pitfalls are in our rules that can be changed.
-
If you devote enough roster space to pitching, 5 on the same day is not a big deal. Is this something that happened to you a lot? In my experience, outside of opening week, this is a pretty rare occurrence! And, as you’re probably aware, there are pitfalls with max starts. E.g., saving those last couple starts for the weekend + rainout + scratched start = nada!

It still doesn't address my point of the of having 5 SP pitch on the same day and not being able to use them for the rest of the week.
-
Leave as few open spots as possible. Rostering additional position players = a greater chance of having guys to start on off-days. Same goes with rostering more SP and RP. Looking at the "Standings" tab and "Games Played and Innings Pitched" section; the top point earners are the teams maximizing their ABs and IP...

Joke,I don't know what you mean by " adjust tactics/roster construction to maximize points under the existing rules. " Who do i do that when MLB decides with day the starting start? Be specific.
-
I like the variety as well. But I think the bigger issue is that making the decision on who to start is at the core of fantasy baseball. Being able to start 5 pitchers in one day takes out a lot of the decision making that makes fantasy baseball interesting. 10 starts a week with up to 5 pitchers starting twice in a week is so close to unlimited starts that it feels like it would really effect roster construction and people would hoard pitchers. Even more than ALWAYS wanting at least 2 starters.

Not especially a radical idea, but one could also adjust tactics/roster construction to maximize points under the existing rules.

It's variety you and I but it is more arbitrary and random as to who gets the most points in any given week. Isn't that what we play head to head to get the most points and win?
-
Yes, I agree 100% with what you are saying. It is more control, but a bit more work. Yes, I do that in other leagues, but that goes back to my first point: variety.

It's less work but it less control over who you can start.
-
2.So you lose control of your teams pitchers because of the luck of the draw. That doesn't happen with SP.We are in Brent Bridwell together . Don't you have to do it in that league? Doesn't it give you more control of your team? Sure there is more planing but it's not that hard. You might get 14 starts but you have less control over who starts.
-
Yep, I don't disagree with that and that is not my argument. I also didn't say that its too much work, just less work under the current system.

"With no cap, I just look at which two I want to start today and then maybe tomorrow, and continue like that. Yes, I have to pick who gets to start over perhaps others starting that day, but that takes less work than planning who doesn't get their start over the whole week." So it's too much work is your argument? So for an example Scherzer, Waiwright,Webb, and Mahle all start on Wednesday. You can only pick 2 . What happens is you lose your 2 next best pitchers for the rest of the week.
-
3. With 10 game cap thats only 10 starts a week from SP. Under the current no cap system it is a possible 14. I know its not likely that you will get 14, but you will usually get more than 10. This makes the SP pool a bit thinner which I prefer.

2. Planning. With a 10 start cap I have to look at the entire week and plan out which 10 starts I will use, otherwise I might be out of starts by the time I get to saturday and miss a Scherzer start or whatever. With no cap, I just look at which two I want to start today and then maybe tomorrow, and continue like that. Yes, I have to pick who gets to start over perhaps others starting that day, but that takes less work than planning who doesn't get their start over the whole week.

Well I suppose I should advocate the other way. In response to Tampico, if I have 3 1B starting on any given day I can still only start max 2 of them. I say keep it as no cap with 2 per day, and this is why: 1. Variety. Every single one of my other leagues has moved or is moving to 10 starts per week. I like this league because I still get to play a league that runs with no cap. cont'd...

Let me make my case again . I wrote this back in Sept."My best 5 SP are all starting today and can only start 2. Give me back control and give me 9 starters for the week and let me decide who start and when !!! " If that day is Wednesday you lose the 3 SP you can't pitch because of this rule for the rest of the week as a SP pitch on 4 days rest. You can decide which batters play and when but not SP. I understand limits but the way it is now is too restrictive. This rule makes no sense

Poll Results:
Games per week: 4 (we'll continue the format we've had for the last 2 seasons)
Money league: No (we'll continue as such)
Pitching Starts cap: A tie between 10 starts a week and no cap-2 starts daily (4 votes each). Please vote for one of these two options in this poll. Please vote by Wednesday the 15th. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSczmH7vBGVaL6_CBIbyUwwTsSAI6HVtZogiU7oU9xzxCzk7_A/viewform

Do we have the results of the poll?
-
So far, 9 of us have responded to the poll - thank you! I'll keep the poll open until midnight Friday, then share the results, so you three stragglers, let's hear your voice!
-
Here's the poll: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSczmH7vBGVaL6_CBIbyUwwTsSAI6HVtZogiU7oU9xzxCzk7_A/viewform
It covers 1) pitching starts cap, 2) number of games played per week, 3) your interest in turning this into a money league. Thanks for your patience, rub your unicorns for a short lockout.
-
I'll have the poll out this week. Sorry for the delay, life has been busy.
-
I've only played a couple head-to-head seasons, but I believe I would prefer more daily SP slots and a weekly cap on starts to the 2/day with no cap/week.
-
Can we have the vote on the possible change of the pitching starts ASAP because me staying in this league depends on changing the rule? I am in 6 other leagues and none have such a rule. Please let me know ASAP.
-
I will vote on the pitching starts and then decide if I am coming back.
-
Arbitration is over! Thanks for everyone who contributed. You can now make penalty-free roster cuts between now and January 31. You can also make trades. Please let me know if you are playing the 2022 season, and don't forget to renew your team before it expires. Also, in the next few weeks I'll put out the poll re: how many pitching starts to allow during the game week. Thanks!
-
The last day for Arbitration is Sunday. Louiville Sluggers, Socrates, and CRISPR, please allocate your funds!
-
12 days left for arbitration! Remember, if you don't allocate all $25, none of it gets allocated.
-
Arbitration is on! You have until November 14 to allocate $25 to the salaries of the other teams, minimum of $1 per team, max of $3. Holler if you have questions!
-
Thanks for the kind words, all. Great season, Lollygaggers. In my defense, before I’m sentenced to fantasy prison, I simply had a good auction a couple years back. Beyond that I’ve earned nothing. Nothing! Re: changing starts… I’m open to change but probably prefer the current system. It forces one to manage their roster and make choices; much as one can’t start more than 1-2 1B on any given day.

Yes, what I mean is that if you switch formats you can set the max starts, but you can only set it up to 10 which is the highest, you can't set 14. Personally I prefer to keep it as it is now for the simple reason that most of my leagues have already switched and I like to have some diversity in the formats I play.

Risen , you are in the Bridwell League with me we use 9 and it works fine. You have more control over which pitcher you can use.

I believe that the max is 10 starts per week if you switch formats.

What might work is setting the number of starts per week allowed to 14 or something like that anyway.
-
I'll send out a poll about the SP question w/in the next week or so, before arbitration.
Welcome aboard, Mutos v.2!
-
Congratulations Joke TBA. A truly great season. . I want to come back next year because I think I can be better.I don't like the SP two starts a day rule.Lets have the vote on changing the number of starts ASAP. I don't want to play under that rule another year. This way you will know if you need to get another owner.
-
Welcome!
-
I keep running into Lollygaggers every now and then, but I don't think I've played against any of the other owners before.
-
Hello, everybody. I just picked up Mostly Bogus Mutos. I'm an experienced Ottoneu player, but relatively new to head-to-head. Looking forward to mixing it up.
-
On another note, I'm managing a playoff pool - you rank the 10 teams in order of confidence, plus enter a prediction of the total number of HRs hit in the playoffs for a tie-breaker and, if you want, enter that prediction in a separate pool. $10 per playoff entry, max of 2, $5 for the optional HR derby, one entry only. If this appeals to you, email me at geeweber@gmail.com for details.
-
Congratulations to Peter for continuing the dynasty. You are now sentenced to fantasy baseball prison.
Arbitration begins Oct. 15 and goes on for a month, so be sure to schedule some time to stick it to your fellow owners.
Thanks for another fun season, hope to see you all next year!
-
Thanks Peter! 799 is not a bad score, but pretty tough to beat a 945. Good luck in the final Lollygaggers, you will need it lol!
