I think we can all agree the best way to respect the game is to trade me all of your best players. At a discount.
-
If you put a position player on the mound...you get what you get and you can't get mad. Sorry...

"Respect the game...by not trying your hardest when you're winning and the other team has a position player pitching"
-
swing away. teams will hold every stat against you in arb and manipulate your service time. sure maybe ignoring the sign your manager gave is bad, but its not a travel team vs 3rd graders. i bet if he popped up and didn't hustle and a guy dropped it in a 15-4 game he'd get in trouble for not hustling and trying but at the plate they want you not to try????
-
Question for the league: what's everyone's take on Yermin Mercedes swinging at that 3-0 pitch? (Context: 9th inning, 2 outs, White Sox are up 15-4, with a position player tossing a get-me-over 49 mph hanger).

Hi all. This season, I am doing a podcast featuring the 20 team league, and I guess I’ll be talking about this league too. I had started the project before I joined in here, at the last minute before the season started. It’s called “Playing Ottoneu” and you can get it wherever you get your podcasts.

Also, in complete agreement on shortening the season by a few games to get playoffs started sooner. Always seemed mad to me that you play all year in 80+ degree weather and then the most important games are played in 30 degree weather.
-
If we're doing the 9 inning thing, do you get credit for throwing 9 innings of no-hit ball but then the first guy in the 10th gets a hit?
-
For what it is worth, I am in favor of the following:
1). All 7 inning games. Can not speed it up enough, so just play less. Starting pitching goes 2 innings less on average already.
2). Shorten the season by 10-15 games so the expanded playoffs can start sooner.
3). Universal DH
4). Start with runner on 2nd in the 11th inning.
The average age of daily fans keep getting older each year. I fear it becoming tennis that nobody watches except for big events.
-
MLB should be specific in calling it a "9 inning complete game no hitter". If so, why can not we just call it a "7 inning complete game no hitter". It is not as if we did not allow the season records to be easier to obtain when they went to 162 game season.
-
Everything can be found on the web.....I do remember this and not liking it when it happened.
https://www.nonohitters.com/near-no-hitters/
-
Would it be a no hitter if no hits were allowed in a rain-shortened, 5 inning game? I think the qualifier has to be that it was done in a 9-inning game. (And thanks for the check-in Taco, all is well here. Hope the same is true for the rest of y'all).

Yeah, its absolutely a no hitter. Nobody got any hits. I guess my question to those who say it's not: Why not?

all good here, or as good as we can be. considering we have 7 inning games...I guess, yeah? it's another category though.

Hi all. I have been offered what I consider a serious offer for Yelich, by a team fighting at the top of the standings. I’d entertain other offers until Monday before I pull the trigger.

Hi all. Just to let you know, Chicago Orphans has a new owner at this late date so welcome Miguel to the league.
-
My Team has two Zach starting pitchers, two Gurriels, two Robleses, a Meyer and a Myers. Not by design, too much Cap'n I suspect. Looking forward to another middle of the pack finish.....
-
Note that this is not an invitation to continually go over the 30 second nomination period, but rather a fail-safe for technical issues or whatever. Let me know if you have questions.
-
Hi all. Hope draft prep (whatever you are doing) is going well. Just a note on this year's draft. We are going to try something new with respect to missed nominations. I learned recently, that if the commissioner pauses the draft during the nomination countdown, when he restarts the draft, the countdown restarts to 30 seconds. So, this year, I will pause the draft when the nomination countdown hits about 2 seconds, check with the person whose turn it is to nominate and then restart the draft.
-
6 is probably part of the reason I am where I am in the standings...sometimes there is too much prep I guess

How much prep am I going to do? About 8 of them if they're Miller Lites, 5-6 preps if I go the fancy route.

Trading is not allowed until after the auction draft. However, there is no restriction on conversations. I for one am happy to agree to something in principle via the messaging feature, and submit it once trading is unlocked after the draft.

Is trading still available even after the keeper deadline?
-
With five days to go before the keeper deadline, I am soliciting offers on Matt Olson ($14) and Thor ($21). I am not in a position where I have to move one or both, but these are two players I prefer to shop. I have also received inquiries of the enigma that is Kyle Schwarber, and he can be had at lesser cost. Perhaps a change of scenery will do him well - the Cubs couldn't get much out any of their hitters last season (see Baez, Bryant, and to a lesser extent Rizzo)!

Hey folks, I've been MIA but I'm back and looking to deal before the keeper deadline. I am willing to listen on anyone (no one is untouchable), but please see my trade block for the guys I prefer to move. I can take on salary if the deal is right. Message me or submit offers!

I think everyone is waiting to hear what the COVID guidelines are for trading...how long does someone have to sit out if I trade them and what are the rules regarding contact tracing...I mean no one wants to get fined or anything.
Otherwise, there is the issue that your team does stink...
Kidding of course....wait...you are below me in the standings! I can talk a little smack to you! But I am done with divisiveness in general and so I am really just jabbing ya for funsi

Happy New Year everyone. I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays as much as possible this year. Just a reminder for everyone (although this may be new information for our new owners), we have established the second Saturday in March as our draft date. This year, that means March 13 at 3 pm eastern (noon pacific), so mark your calendars. Also, don't forget the January 31 cut deadline is still a month away so trading remains open.
-
Ok, all. Our new owners have drafted their teams so: happy trading!
