I like that trade for the Syndicate. McCarthy becoming the village bicycle...

my hand is up to, but for what you are asking I still don' regret clicking the reject button.

The impact of Appel falling to the Pirates and the debate about the new draft rules is fascinating stuff...

Frosted Mini Weeks's trading block has been updated!
-
Fact I did not know earlier today: RA Dickey is 37 years old. Wow

The Syndicate's trading block has been updated!
-
Lucky Strikes's trading block has been updated!
-
Suddenly getting a lot of inquiries about Lester and N Cruz...YES, they are available!
-
Hand raised....still dont regret rejecting it...by the way you are pretty much right on for my top 3...Cutch and Cano would require overpayments but Upton could potentially heat up in the second half and be big for someone competing this year
-
Raise your hand if you received a trade offer from me 6 weeks ago that included Dexter Fowler. I really appreciate you guys rejecting those offers. He's been my hottest hitter over the past month by far. .297/.400/.586

Verdict: Expect Lester, and to a lesser extent, N. Cruz, to be moved in the coming weeks. Both offer value and could probably had for some solid building blocks as the Syndicate continues to tinker for a 2013 title shot.
-
But who is the most likely chip to be moved? Look no further than Jon Lester @ $35. Picking up Kemp was a great move, so it's no secret Syndicate is in sell mode. Lester has lost his luster, but he's still a valuable arm and could help a top team.
-
MoPain Verdict: Lots of baseball left and still in the race, but if the bubble bursts expect each of these guys to be on the move. Doubtful anyone wants to start another season like '12 with a $53 Pujols, but he may be a prime target in the coming weeks.
-
But if things change as the weather warms into the summer, should MoPain look to sell these guys? Pujols is heating up and could be the biggest impact bat on the market come July. Felix is still an ace and could have the same effect.
-
Now thing get interesting: What about Pujols, Felix, and Utley? All are priced to sell, but MoPain remains in the race and is understandably reluctant to move pieces that help him stay in the race.
-
Harper Verdict: Hold. Like owning Strasburg, there's an allure to having Harper suit up for your team, and he's already proving the skeptics wrong. Might not earn $39 in 2013, but could certainly earn $41 in 2014+. Plenty of cap space, Harper stays.
-
Here's an interesting trade candidate: Bryce Harper. Never thought he'd be used to trade for prospects/keepers in Ottoneu, but @ $37, can he earn $39 in 2013? Is he worth holding even at that price in case he pulls a Giancarlo on us next year?
-
We all know Upton has MVP-like skills, so it's just a matter of time until we see them all come together. Hasn't happened in 2012, but is it worth waiting for in 2013 @ $42? Verdict: Cano and the Pirate stay, for now, but Upton could be in play soon...
-
Doubtful McCutchen, the cheapest of the three, gets moved on the upswing of a career year, and Cano has tremendous value as the best 2B bat in the game. Could he be flipped for another stud cornerstone? Yes, but for who?
-
Wood has made some savvy moves this season, and outside of this trio of stars his younger prospects are generally closer to helping in the big leagues sooner than those that Enrico has been hoarding.
-
Three studs that could easily help a contender are J. Upton, Cano, and McCutchen, all priced at $34 or above. These guys are true difference makers, but will they really be moved?
-
Verdict: Reyes and Lawrie staying put for a potential run in 2013.
-
Enrico will be the most interesting team to watch in the off season and 2013 in my opinion. If he can convert all those rookies into a contender by complimenting them with high powered (priced) studs in the draft, the "worst to first" strategy might work
-
As for Reyes, it's been a disappointing season, but with how few solid SS there are in the league, he's a good bet to rebound and worth the wait and see at $30.
-
What about Lawrie @ $36 or Reyes @ $28? Lawrie has been solid yet unspectacular, but with more cap space than anyone, he could be worth a hold and might earn $38 next season.
-
Both Longo and Hanley are priced fairly high, so Mini Weeks has a decision to make there, especially since Hanley won't be SS eligible for 2013. Yet, he has plenty of cap space and both are studs when healthy. Verdict: Staying put.
-
So let's consider the next big star that could be on the move to a contender:
-
Delmon Young past two seasons: 3.98 PPG. Jeff Francouer past two seasons: 5.34 PPG. Don't get me wrong, they're both pretty bad. It's still an upgrade.
-
Delmon Young and Frenchy are essentially the same player...and they were just exchanged.
-
I hate Francouer.
-
$4 for Frenchy, guy's services are in high demand. I was regretting the nomination and pretty much resigned to winning him. He was a great value last year though.

E. Santana a textbook victim of the Ottoneu HRA. 26 HRA in 2011; already 16 in 2012 in 150 less innings. HR/FB% has more than doubled from 2011. Bad luck? Skill? Who knows...
-
Are you ever relieved that you didn't win a player auction? Looking at your, Jeff Francoeur...
-
Probably because the BA Top 50 is owned by like three teams.

Long-term you might miss him but now you can lock up Kipnis. Definitely different tenor to trades this year. Not as many top-prospect-for-superstar deals.

It's a perfectly good trade on either end in a vacuum, I just think it makes you (Trey) a whole lot harder to beat. You really won't miss Beachy since you can meet your IP requirement with three or four SP who are better than Beachy.

Came very close to going for a super bat like Cano but then realized Kipnis wasn't that far off and much more affordable. Beachy was arguably my best SP after Gio, so I will miss him in my rotation
-
Just an opinion. To me if a team I'm neck-and-neck with has an unfavorable roster imbalance, I'm not real inclined to help them resolve it. Possibly overthinking it.

Bottom line is Lucky's rotation is deep enough that he won't miss Beachy or Shields. So you're improving your own roster without improving your chances of overtaking the team in front of you.

Chiefs will see a points-per-day boost, although Beachy is showing some signs of falling back to earth, but at the cost of Lucky getting a pure profit in points-per-day.

Not so much a matter of Lucky being in first as it is giving a huge points-per-day boost to a team you are chasing.

I have four pitchers on the DL (including Halladay) and I'm 150 innings under. Couldn't pass it up.
-
Why is it assumed that any trade the 1st place team makes only helps them and not the team chasing? Chiefs just picked up a stud SP for dirt cheap. Helps now and later.
-
Why does it matter who is in first on June 4?
