current systems. That's why most leagues have league constutitions, means for proposing changes and usualy super majority rules for changes. We've got our league rules, clearly nobody has mastered it yet, when someone wins 4 in a row let's revisit
-
also I think there should be processes by which new proposals are vetted before being even put to votes, the haphazard process is not good for league continuing, or honestly, particularly fair they just wind up benefitting the teams worst off under the
-
But protecting 3 for the top 3 guys keeps them at the top 3 for a long time
-
i really think the rules tweaks aren't a good idea, teams are drafting and auctioning and prepping based on a set of rules, I don't like changing up mid stream (as those of you in other leagues with me know)
-
Well we could enact any of those options, just enforcing it by way of gentlemen's agreement. But we should act soon so that we can manage with the new system in mind.

Nothing personal Crying and Enrico, just brainstorming here...lol...
-
Top 3 finish, protect 3....4th-7th place protect 2....8th-10th protect 1....last two protect none....keeps people trying to move up to next tier and competitive even if stuck midtable...
-
It would be interesting if every team were allowed to protect one (at most two) players from the vote off, like the Rule 5. I'd even be in favor of the winner of each season getting one extra protected spot for the following year.
-
I understand the vote off rule, but I still hate hate hate it. Would love if it was similar to the Rule 5 MLB draft in some way, and you could protect a certain number of players from being scalped...
-
and that's assuming nothing from Olt, Taveras, Teheran, Choice, Grant Green, Norris, Gyorko, Machado, Bundy
-
Posey (C), Reyes (SS), Lawrie (3B), SP Strasburg, Sale, Samarzdjia, Parker, Bauer...Obviously the 2013 auction matters a lot but half my lineup is already nearly set and cheap
-
also, obviously as my team is constructed it was never going to compete, but it's not as if I have a straight prospect play for next year. My 2013 lineup:
-
there is still a yawning gulf between "prospects" (ie minor league players) and prospects that are really impact players in this format
-
Utley may play for the Phillies sometime soon, but he is done. It's not an injury from which he can fully recover.

Curious if Chase Utley had been dropped 6 weeks ago would anyone else have picked him up at $17. Might have been an opportunity for MoPain to drop him and then snag him again at half price 30 days later...(like Sizemore)
-
It's becoming more apparent to me that winning this league twice in a row would be a major feat. Everything has to fall right. Maybe Enrico's strategy of holding tons of prospects early on will work, but they still have to be the right prospects...
-
For instance that is why I dont think Bauer gets voted off over Trout, but Sale could however unlikely...IMO
-
I dont think we see a lot of other guys like Lawrie, Moore and Harper voted off after 1-2 months of service time...Trout is different because he could do this for an entire year
-
Remember when we all said it wasn't worth carrying single A guys because the wait just isn't worth it? Jose Fermandez was just won after four teams bidding. Those hopeful prospects going quick.
-
I just have to say I give a LOT of credit to Enrico this year for remaining active on the message boards, trades, etc. despite knowing he would be out of the race by April 1st. Well played, sir. Most other owners would be on auto-pilot right now...
-
Bryce Harper was voted off my team at $15 in the off season, and went for $37. What is Trout going to go for? I guess he becomes the sacrificial lamb so that other studs can be maintained.
-
I like the chatter on all my vote off possibilities, keep it coming please. Personally I think the vote off is a pretty good innovation for this system
-
Then again, I didn't lose a player that I was really high on.

In the current system, even if a guy gets voted off, you're still allowed the opporunity to own him at less than market value. It's not perfect but I don't think it's really unjust.

yea, after losing Lawrie last year with just a few months of service time I think the vote-off rules are terrible. I like the add $1 rule, or maybe even make it $2 or 3. I'd prefer to keep it as it is now but with a minimum service time requirement.

at the price, I dont see anyway that Trout doesnt get voted off even over Strasburg or Sale
-
I still prefer my genius idea of allowing every other team $1 to add to any player on every other team. They don't get voted off, but the escalation still kicks in.

The vote off rules.

I think it will come down to Strasburg, Trout, or Sale, unless Bauer explodes on the scene. Still think Trout and Strasburg the most valuable, regardless of price. The vote off really does kind of suck...if I had Trout and lost him I'd be pissed.
-
although Samardzija a good candidate for a vote-off there too

One of either Strasburg or Trout are coming back into the pool, so you may have your shot at him again...

really regret giving up Trout for CC these days. He's been worth twice that $20.

Worst of his career, I should say, about that 37% K rate...
-
I would love to be inside the mind of Adam Dunn during a few AB's. 19.1% BB rate, 37.3% K rate, both best of his career. Do you just go up thinking I'm going to take pitches till I get in a hitter's FB count and then swing away?
-
Rex Brothers and Alex Castellanos both on the block. Probably nothing special this year, but likely COL closer in waiting and a potential Mike Cuddyer-type down the road.

First Dickey, now Pettitte. Jed has a love fest with the almost 40 crowd...

My favorite part of the day is when I check my lineup score and see all negative numbers.

I think Lombardozzi picked up about three extra eligible positions over the last week
-
both valid points WAR Horse, but if Wood thought that why not bid on him last week? Why give up Downs for a player you could've had for nothing a week ago?

and I'd like to see the free agent list full of 10pt an inning relievers

I know nothing about Lombardozzi, but I'm fairly confident he has more long-term upside than Downs does. Isn't Downs the guy who told Cito Gaston he would prefer not to close out games?

I understand that, but if you thought that way why not just bid on him a week ago? Why not solicit offers on Downs?

i think Lombardozzi will be more valuable next year and going forward....Downs isnt keeping up that pace and is much older...remember how quickly scott shields went down as he got older?
-
I dunno, if you're trying to build with prospects, that sorta makes sense. $10/IP relievers can be picked up in-season as easy as anything.

Bill Forrest must know something about Lombardozzi that the rest of us don't.

A $2 10pt/inning reliever at that, so a keeper. I vetoed that deal, first time I've done so this season, don't know how much good that does though.

i don't get that deal at all - Lombardozzi was on waivers a week ago and NOBODY but Strikes bid, and now he's worth a 10 pt an inning reliever!?!? That's terrible, I don't get it.
