Wow, that's devastating. What a freak thing, I'm going to miss the trumpets.

Edwin DĂaz torn patellar tendon, out for season. That sucks... one of the funnest pitchers to watch in the game right now. Mets need to start keeping their players in padded rooms.
-
Looks like I might have to concede this year, maybe I’ll dump my best players to Tumbleweed.
-
Edwin DĂaz hurt celebrating win over the Dominican Republic. Does not look good.
-
Joc Pederson Israel?

I am not familiar with the World Cup but below is hysterical:
“ The player presents documentary evidence satisfactory to WBCI that he would be granted citizenship or a passport in due course under the laws of the Federation Team’s country or territory (excluding any requirement of the Federation Team’s country that the player would need to renounce his current citizenship), if he were to apply for such citizenship or passport.”
-
The rules for country representation are actually more strict for the WBC than they are for the world cup. I really don't see the problem.
-
I support players choices. But Larry Nootbar is from California and Vinnie P is from Virginia. They should just let countries win or lose or call it something else.
-
Yeah that doesn't bother me at all. It gives other countries better players that they can root for which helps give baseball more world exposure.
-
That's a valid criticism. Heritage is easy to quantify, but the connection people have to their history is harder to measure. I think this year was the first time Vinnie P. had been in Italy, and it was just his grandfather that qualified him. Nootbaar has never lived in Japan, but half of his family does.
It's the rule of cool for me. I just think it's fun, so I don't mind how lax it is to qualify for a team. I do wish the USA team was better represented, at least on the pitching s

Regarding the WBC, I think it is way overhyped, players play for countries that they have third removed connections to, sometimes less.
-
Not to mention Frankie Montas, Severino...., I think that there is at least a 50% Rodon will end up with season ending Tj.
-
Maybe just being cautious but how often does Forearm strain/tightness not end in TJ?
-
I think they are just being cautious with 162 million guaranteed
-
The Yankees can't catch a break with their starters. The Curse of Jordan Montgomery, otherwise known as the foolish gambit of trading SP depth.

Rodon with a forearm strain going to the IL. 50/50 chance for TJ?
-
Yordan swings the bat so hard his hands warp under the momentum. Every day I wake up and say a little prayer that he'll be okay.

We are winning the flex player race!
-
Yeah and 4 of your top 5 most expensive hitters are Correa, Bryant, Buxton, and Anderson. Walnut has deGrom as his ace (yeah yeah he's got Ohtani too) and has Suzuki already injured, Lowe as his second baseman...
-
Musgrove broken toe, Guerreo with knee inflammation because he is so bleeping fat.
-
I am willing to trade Glasnow for some win now guys from teams that are rebuilding. I know my team is the cheapest and my bats look pedestrian….. but am still in reload mode.
-
Walnut Hill and Squirrels already had separation from the field and they are growing the gap. If you want to join the arms race, Trout/Bieber others available here. I'm in the longshot category but willing to move to rebuild now with the right offers.
-
Yeah we've been trying to load up for sure. Kinda fun doing the auction so early giving more time to make moves pre-season. My total "payroll" will still be under $420 and Squirrels is already over $530 so I got some work to do acquiring more higher $ win now pieces to catch him there. But I agree things should be very close and do not at all think this is just a two team race, could be a handful in close contention the way things stand now.
-
I am winning the arms race and Walnut Hill is winning the bats race (by quite a bit). Unfortunately, I think his team still has the edge right now overall but man is it close! Not calling it a two team race before the season has even started either, definitely paths to other teams beating both of us.
-
I'm enjoying the arms (and bats) race between Flying Squirrels and Walnut Hill.

What!? Why??

WBC annoys the hell out of me.

Can it be opening day already? Although looking forward to the WBC as well.

I love the name update, Racob Cronengirth. Hilarious with that bit of news.

Hope you found an extra 1,000 points for me. Too far away to be a threat, too close to throw in the towel. Not my favorite place to be waffling on strategy for the year!
-
I updated my points using Rotowire's projections and came up with 18,249, pretty darn close to your projections.
-
Yes getting max innings and games is a pretty huge assumption, but is good for comparison. My pitching projection is pretty rough as well because you can't account for picking and choosing matchups or how many RP innings people will manage to get, etc. If I remember I'll do an update right before opening day once all the Spring Training injuries have happened and more roster decisions have been made that could clear up some projections for games started and innings pitched.
-
I’m already 2 spots better than last year lol! I will say I think only 1-2 teams had 1500 innings 162 games and certainly not all with starters at full health!
-
Thanks for sending those out -- now everyone has their bulleting board material! We can be just like the pros and talk about how "nobody believed in us" and "we proved them all wrong." Ottoneu really is immersive!

Alright I've got ATC projections for the entire league. This is projections for if you get to 162 games for each position and 1500 innings pitched assuming games started beyond your starters are replaced by your best projected eligible bench bat. Projections are lower for Wreckers, Wham Bam, and PickOff Picks because with your current team construct I can't quite get you to 162 games at each position.
-
How about run them all and post the results?
-
For those unaware I have put together an excel sheet to get season projections for my teams. If you want to know what your team is projected to score for ATC, Steamer, The BAT, ZiPS, or Depth Charts just let me know and I am happy to run it for you.
-
Hahaha yeah I think a player gets 25% extra market value for being on your team.

Damn, I missed all this Fraleygate drama. I guess this is all my fault for cutting Fraley in the first place.

Walking back everything would be too much. The impact the issue has is harder on Flying's roster than my own. I'm okay if a commissioner moves Fraley back to Flying's team.

From an outside perspective it seems we should give Fraley back to squirrels or walk back their transactions post Fraley pickup.
-
Zero hard feelings whatever happens, but I definitely got shafted. I won the auction for Fraley, traded an OF I wouldn't have, and cut a player (which I still have the cap penalty for), and then just had Fraley removed from my team.
-
That's where we stand now. Flying and I (if not others) both claimed Fraley, then the coin toss awarded him to me. That's why he was added to my team this morning. But, because of the issue Niv addressed in that forum post, between those events, Fraley was also put up for auction and won by Flying.

Yes, multiple waiver claims decided by coin toss until season starts, then by reverse order of standings.

I want Jake Fraley -- that's why I originally claimed him and have kept shopping for another outfielder since losing out. But, I understand this is a messy situation that leaves someone with the short end. Just let me know whatever we have to do, no hard feelings on my part either way.

Seems like it was an issue that Niv fixed, but maybe we need commissioner intervention to manually fix things? https://community.ottoneu.com/t/baseball-waivers-not-processing-02-20-23/12657
-
That's a little frustrating because I traded one of my outfielders assuming I had Fraley as a bench replacement.
-
I got an email this morning saying the waiver claim was processed and I won by coin flip. Did the waiver claim function not run until well after it was supposed to?
