Don’t be silly Fred. Heyman is a fully paid-for mouthpiece of the owners, and tweets like this are just part of their PR campaign to shift blame (and pressure) to the players. Will Carroll’s take: “The owner’s meetings have ended. Rob Manfred emerged from the hotel, apparently saw his shadow, and now there will be more weeks without baseball. There’s meetings Saturday, but Manfred said nothing that felt as if it would move things forward, unless you think the universal DH was the hold up.”

This news is worth two more cuts Patrick : According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, MLB owners are prepared to "make concessions on key economic issues" in their next proposal to the MLBPA.
-
Bob was in Hüsker Dü and also in Sugar , in addition to being a solo act
-
Drew is now under budget , only three left and the clock is ticking
-
Yes,O'Neill is from.Vancouver area. Bob Mould is from Minneapolis
-
He's Canadian, too, right? Tyler O'Neill. Not Bob Mould.

I agree he’s a steal at $4–i’d have put $1 on him but Robert needed $2 even more. He’s too risky (321 Ks in 987 mlb PAs—you can do the math yourself, I just like the 3-2-1 and 9-8-7 countdowns) for me to spend $25 on him but maybe someone would.

In case nobody noticed , Tyler O'Neill hit 34 hr stole 15 in 484 at bats ,was 6.29 ppg and is 4$ salary . If thrown back would go for 25$ or more . I'm NOT looking to trade him especially needing OF myself. Please no negative math bs from you Pat , even if he regresses a full point, he's a huge value at 4$. Plus he's as strong and chiseled as Trout , just few inches shorter and fast as hell.
-
I see it now that you mention it, but that one went right past me the first time.
-
I guess no Bob Mould fans in here
-
The new set of cards is due any week now
-
Since it's looking like no spring training, when are we going to fire up the strat league again?
-
Stefania Constantini…but also curling in general! She may not be the athlete Nathan Chen or some German ski jumper is, but she also doesn’t need to bribe a bunch of Joe West types to score. Just throw the rocks.

I have a crush on the female Italian Curling member , cute as hell

That said, I’m actually happy to play bridge and even watch Winter Olympics (as long as I don’t think too much about how many of these performances are judged). I’d just rather not waste my time on baseball.

Fred, you think there’s anything in Max’s tweet that wasn’t already known? There aren’t any secrets about what either side wants and doesn’t want. I agree that the things the players want don’t seem outlandish…but that might be why I’m not a billionaire. The players being clear isn’t what solves this, the owners need to realize they’ll have to give something back (or the players give up). See any sign of that?

Cheer up Pat, I see a little light and I know you will
-
Scherzer actually tweeted a clear concise bullet points of issues they want addressed or changed ; service time, teams tanking, luxury tax/salary cap ,minimum salary, team minimum roster salaries. None if which seem outlandish to me.
-
Did he happen to mention what small but meaningful progress was? Any good news would be nice. Maybe it was the owners requesting federal mediation (because they need someone to force the owners to the table?)? Or maybe this past weekend’s twin ridiculous “stories”: “It’s all Boras’s fault!” and “Jesus imagine all the doping going on (while we’ve locked these guys out)!”?

"Given the small but meaningful amount of progress towards the end of a lockout and a new CBA, as of today I do not plan on moving this year’s keeper deadline from February 15, 2022. While I am not certain that Spring Training will be entirely spared, there is still a decent chance that Opening Day happens as scheduled. If that is the case, 6 weeks is a good pre-season draft window and any less time than that might make it hard for leagues to find time to draft."
-
Just because it came up in conversation, Niv has indicated that he is NOT extending the deadline again, primarily because no league can draft until after the cut deadline. If you click on the link at the top of the league homepage, you can see his post from 8 days ago.
-
One week until final cuts!
-
We’re not paying anyone—well, maybe team management—during the lockout so this is no big deal.

The three teams still over budget are Brent, Drew , and by a considerable amount Pat.

No cuts left, but open to some deadline deals if anyone wants to move a cheap outfielder.

Okay, I have two cuts left. Sonny Gray and Tanner Houck. Anyone want to lock them up now, rather than seeing how high they go at auction?

The fact that Charles won it all and still has Witt, Davis , Rutschman, Julio Rodriguez is testament to his trading prowess ( and league gullibility ) .
-
Happy Birthday Charles
-
Was thinking that too , but in capped I'd really like to know where schwarber and castellenos are going to end up. All things considered , wish throwbacks were tonight
-
Really wish today was still cut day. This perpetual waiting is going to be super lame.
-
What is bothersone was the 5 weeks if inactivity, no sense of urgency
-
God bless the Onion

Yeah it's getting depressing. Seems like at minimum Spring Training will be drastically shortened. Best summary of the negotiations I've read so far: https://www.theonion.com/mlb-owners-propose-cba-that-offers-players-college-cred-1848424479

Thanks for the reminder. I've reluctantly renewed both of mine. Reluctance based on my faith in either side to get a labor agreement in place any time soon, not my enjoyment of the league.
-
Just a quick reminder, if you haven't renewed yet this is the weekend to do it.
-
Jeremy needs a wee dram of the breath of heather
-
We’ll, that’s certainly a downer message. I personally am try not to think that far ahead.
-
I gotta be honest - gonna be hard for me to shell out the $$ to renew all my teams without some labor progress in the next week.
-
Surprised no one proposed Crypto prizes.

Thanks for the investigation Patrick. I agree that checks aren’t desirable. I don’t really know anything about leaguesafe except our use in this league. I’m fine if we want to switch to it or I’m also fine keeping a spreadsheet of fees and at the end of the season telling everyone who to send what they owe to.
