Please, though, tell us what your better offer was. See what Andrew thinks of it.
-
Good chance I’ll be able to buy Harper, et al. at similar prices next year. And hopefully I’ll have a relatively cheap ace. Maybe not. That was my thinking.
-
Joc, I’d like to tell us what your “objectively better” offer was. I have no trouble believing Kenton got the better end of the deal. He’s definitely better at this game than me and at least 7 others in the league. Fact is, there are two buyers right now. That’s it. I got multiple offers from both. A deal for Bieber was BY FAR the best I was going to get, and I decided the surplus for Bieber was worth it. I don’t think Kenton will keep any of the guys I traded him. …
-
Of course Bieber is the single player who most people would want in that trade, they aren't competing. The best keepers should always be going to the person selling. But Harper and Kershaw are both keepers at that price assuming they do this well for the rest of the year. An argument could be made that Tony's team might actually be better next year - something you shouldn't even be able to argue for a buy of this magnitude to the first place team.
-
I support vetoing. The bottom line in all this is I do believe there are people cough TONY cough who are extremely predatory in how they trade. Trust me I was ripped off by Tony in my first month of fantasy baseball when I knew nothing and only managed to regain some value when Andrew defended me and got him to trade some of it back, but still resulted in Tony getting Cody Bellinger who was like $20 surplus for nothing. And I'm his own damn cousin. I certainly wish people had vetoed that trade.
-
I honestly think that Kenton Ben trade a case could be made that Ben hosed Kenton. 33 Kershaw with forearm trouble, expensive Harper who will probably get dropped or force Kenton to drop others to keep him. Obviously if Bieber doesn't get back 100% it's hard to know how it will turn out. But if he does he may have got the best contract in that deal. He's who I'd want in that trade

I honestly think no team is that far gone. I understand that is a possibly and my goal is to not let that happen. I also think strategies are going to have to change bc I thought I drafted good teams in both my leagues and at times haven't been able to field a complete team with all the injuries. I look on the waiver and I don't want to drop anyone for a waiver player. And this is in multiple leagues with the same problem. I know it's not everyone situation but I feel things are getting harder.

Nick, for instance, was milked for several years then his team was at an immense disadvantage when he left which makes it harder to get someone to replace and stay engaged with the team from the get-go.
-
That's fair I would agree that there are problems with pro-veto approaches, however, I don't think we've ever experienced one virtually, and I can count several trades that if you reverse, makes it easier to maintain competitive balance. The cost of reversing a trade can be an explanation, then they can try to do it again, the cost of not can mean a diminished experience for a person for multiple years and added difficulty getting someone to join to replace a failing team.
-
Plus right now neither one is helping their respective team

I am not making a case either way for that Bregman deal, just pointing out things that came to mind when I was reading

If anyone wants to be ripped off by the guys on my trade block let me know.

Also, which brings me to the veto. It is part of Ottoneu and I am not opposed to people using them. Just be careful as to what you use it for as it can become a slippery slope if used in certain ways.

When that happens and I get what I can and get out. It's hard to say what is a good trade or what is bad trade because it's not always cut and dry. Someone could look and say well Jazz has more points than Bregman. What was Jazz doing at the time of the trade. Values change throughout the season and its hard to evaluate them if we don't have all the factors. I not saying it good or bad trade but I think it's hard to judge past trades.

I understand loans and trades can get crazy especially during this time of year. Honestly I think it is hard to assume that Bregman trade is simply Ike should have gotten more. While that may or may not be the case and while not necessarily in this league, do we know if Ike had him on the trade block and for how long if so. What was Ike cap situation at the time. Had Ike actually tried to send out trades. I have experienced plenty of time listing guys and no one wants to trade for them.

That's the kind of thing I'd like to know if I had a trade pending with someone, and a veto would make sure that I knew that was the case
-
Unfortunately Jazz and his .299 xwoba is worth a big goose egg
-
Also, did you know when you made the trade with Tony for story that story has said he won't re-sign with Colorado? I'm just curious because I know that informed tony wanting to trade him
-
All we're saying Ike is that we think you deserved more for Bregman than what you got
-
Which is still probably by the most generous assessment worth 5-6x the value of Jazz at this point
-
Wrong I mean it's just worth the $43 lol
-
Well and if Tony cuts him he still keeps the money you gave him so effectively a Bregman cut by him and added by someone else to tony ends up being worth $83
-
Bregman getting hurt doesn't change the merit of the trade. And either way trading away Jazz meant Tony wasn't playing him while he got < 4 ppg, so it actually helped him lol.
-
Right what happened after the trade has gone in your favor and I can say with strong confidence that I would rather have Bregman as $42 from cutting him is worth a whole lot more than Jazz
-
Bregman has got hitless since the trade. If anything it’s lopsided in my favor.
-
I mean I don't agree with the PSA lol I don't think telling people to stop getting ripped off by tony is a solution to a problem that doesn't just involve kenton. I don't think anyone is willfully ripping themself off by accepting a trade. So I'm trying to think of a more effective response lol
-
Also for those unaware, that's Andrew's way of agreeing with me
-
"Gotta beat him to the punch" kind of a ridiculous thing to say when I offered you an objectively better deal the other day and you said it wasn't enough, offer no counters or input when I ask for it and then do this deal without even circling back to me. Tapia was claimed by Kenton (the first place team) off waivers for $1 a week ago and then gets traded like he's a keeper lol. But whatever, this deal is hardly the worst Kenton's done this season.
-
People have been trading an $8 worthless player for $1 cash, then the other person cuts the person and gets back $4 cash (and more after 30 days or if the player is added). There is no sense in this lol
-
So Alex Bregman $42 + $41 cash for $1 Jazz Chisholm- I have a hard time justifying that trade by any measure really.
-
As an example, $1 Jazz Chisholm drafted in March for $1 was traded straight up for a $42 Alex Bregman, 2.5 months after he was kept at that price. At that time there were players on the waiver wire who project better than Jazz who were probably available for less than 4-5$.
-
I trust the collective opinion to be more correct than my opinion about trades- if someone vetoes a trade I make because they think I can do better, I appreciate it. Likewise, I also am fine with people vetoing trades they believe are unfair in my advantage.
-
We've shown at this point we have virtually no veto tendency compared to a very strong and imbalanced trade record- I'd move to be more careful with permitting trades than vetoing them. The cost of a veto is a resubmitted trade- 2-3 days of production. This has made trading extremely difficult because I don't think it's done in good faith and everyone is afraid of being dominated by someone.
-
I'm actually in favor of being more aggressive with vetoes, we've seen time and time again that very imbalanced trades are accepted time and time again to the detriment of some teams (not specifically referring to this trade), our only recourse to prevent these trades is to replace perenially non competitive teams but at this point it happens so frequently compared to a multi-year solution that it's not working. I'm am vetoing in cases where I can't reasonably justify a trade for either side.
-
Ha. Gotta beat him to the punch.
-
Little PSA to the league: Stop getting trade raped by Kenton
-
I’m selling too. Hit me up.
-
BTW I am selling to anyone who's interested in buying
-
it's always nice when you just decide to start all your pitchers against your better judgement. And then your best pitcher is the one that does the worst lol I'm wanting to say someone has had more in one day though but I might be wrong
-
KP just casually dropping 305 points and 211 pitching points in one day. Are those new records for our league?
-
Hope everyone is ready.

The voyage is off to a rock start, though - I accidentally kept 2 guys I was meaning to drop and now I have no money lol. Can't wait to get in bidding wars with you dudes at the auction.
-
Psh. I have the gold cup by name that's all that matters.
-
DK you should change your team name to Voyage a 2.5 since last season doesn't count as a full championship
-
If no one has objections to 7 pm eastern time I can tentatively set it for that. Let me know if anyone has concerns with that time slot

8pm on the 14th works for me. To make sure Ike can get to bed as early as possible, could we do 7pm? Otherwise, I'm good on the 14th.
-
I know DK has church from 4 to 6 so would people be alright with 8 eastern time? That would be 7 for central time people.

I think I havent heard from one person but as of name the 14th and 28th of March seem to work for everyone. My plan is to have it on the 14th. My thought is if something happens between now and then we would still have time to adjust whereas the 28th is right at the season opener as of now.
