Occam's razor is that MLB's response is extreme and unreasonable, so I don't think your interpretation is either offensive or incorrect. I do think that things just don't add up, and facts likely exist that we (the public) don't have access to, and possibly never will since nothing has gone to trial.
-
I hope I don't offend anyone regarding Bauer, and if anyone has any decent source material that contradicts my statement and opinion I would appreciate a link to it.
-
Bauer's activities appeared to be consensual, at first, after the acts, she decided they were not. Relationships like the one Bauer had are not terribly unusual in Los Angeles. To me, it sounds like she changed the rules afterward and either fabricated or exaggerated some of the alleged abuse.
-
If you combine the suspensions of Chapman, Odubel Herrera, Jose Reyes, Domingo German, Julio Urias, Roberto Osuna, Addison Russell and Jeurys Familia, the total suspensions for all of them is less than Trevor Bauer! What is the difference between them and Trevor Bauer?
-
Aroldis Chapman allegedly choked a woman and fired a pistol near her 8 times, but no 2 year suspension. They didn’t need the victim’s cooperation - they could have just counted the bullet holes in Chapman’s garage. But no - it’s a cultural thing, and we can’t punish him too harshly. How the hell did Bauer’s suspension dwarf Chapman’s like this?
-
It is amazing how people’s feelings about the person accused of sexual abuse, violence, etc so completely dictates their beliefs about the accuser. Joe Biden was accused of sexual assault, but in that case everyone decided the accuser was lying. The allegations I have seen against Bauer seem insufficient to punish him like this, but Americans seem to hate Bauer and want bad things to happen to him.
-
New report suggests there are 3 women that have come forward… and Rosenthal tweeted that the final disciplinary decision was not negotiated. Interesting.

I agree. I just can’t see what MLB has to gain by keeping secrets. Could they keep secrets from Bauer? I assume they need to report their reasons for the suspension at least to him and MLBPA. Why keep secrets?
-
I have no idea what the truth is and probably never will. Only speculating on how MLB can justify this suspension because it seems ridiculous without having more information available to the public.
-
Also it is possible thus is exactly what it seems, and MLB is full of crap. But if they are keeping something secret from Bauer while suspending his $40M/year contract, they will have a huge problem.
-
It’s possible they’re keeping the evidence hidden a little better than the NFL did with Ray Rice. Didn’t that case not have legal action either? Not saying the suspension isn’t bullshit because from an onlooker’s perspective this is not a good look for MLB.
-
Not even every arrest… Every allegation, even ones that have literally NO legal action, civil or criminal.
-
I just hope that this means every single domestic violence arrest from here on out is at least a 2 year suspension.
-
Oops I was wrong. Should have looked it up first. Ozuna “only” tried to choke her. Same as Chapman. I guess that’s not as big a deal ?? Only 20 or 30 games for that. Maybe Chapman got the extra ten for including a firearm in his strangulation
-
Wonder how mlb will justify that length. Players hitting women who didn’t want to be hit got far less. Ozuna I think being the latest- it’s hard to keep up. Maybe they have more info than we do?

Bauer Outage has taken on a new meaning.

324 game suspension for Trevor Bauer 🤯. I hope he sues the hell out of MLB, and I hope he wins.

Buxton has been 🔥 so far, just needs to stay on the field

Buxton just smashed a walk off upper deck shot of Liam Hendricks.
-
Conforto cost himself $18.4M turning down the QO. And if he had a contract, even with the lockout, I wonder if he would have avoided the injury. I assume he was trying to build his value by showcasing “best shape of his career” while he shopped himself for a big payday. A shoulder i jury can be awful - a couple years back I had arthroscopic surgery on my rotator cuff, and it was a horrible experience. Took me at least a full year to get past it.
-
I’m suing Scott Boras for $22 in cap relief. $7 for cap penalty, $5 in opportunity costs, $10 as punitive.

And Buxton didn’t even make it to ten games before his first injury.

.063% caught Covid last week (past 7 days) in the United States. 40% of my starting outfielders caught it last week.
-
The Twins were guessing on Kershaw's pitches. They were free swinging too much the past few days. They need to get back to what they were doing before. Kershaw looked great, but part of it was the Twins poor approach.
-
Kershaw is absolutely dealing against Minnesota right now.
-
I need to free up a couple roster spots, and would trade Nate Pearson and DL Hall for cap space or for a low-cost player (preferably RP, OF or 1B). Also open to trading Ke’Bryan Hayes and Luis Urias, just because I have enough depth at their positions and needs at other positions.
-
Does anybody have OF or 1B they are looking to trade? I have cap space to take on salaries you aren’t happy with, or for loans.
-
oops meant for another league.
-
Actually you came out approximately 20 points ahead as you didn't use up 3 innings and 1 game.
-
Soon not spine, lol. I HATE autocorrect.

Spa City seems to be on to something with identifying the good/desirable/spine to be called up prospects before most us. He initially had Pena at $1, has $1 Stott, $1 Kwan, $2 Brash, etc.

Pena was a great $1 pick up.
-
My $1 SS just hit his first career home run, that was cool to watch live. He literally hit it in the middle of an interview with his parents on the broadcast!

9.14ppg and 9.68 pip, heck of a start Spa City!
-
I watched it as well! And I put a decent bet on the Tigers to win.

I am glad I watched the Sox Tigers today, what a game!

Happy Opening Day! It’s as much a holiday for my family as Thanksgiving or New Year’s Day.

Happy “New Year” everyone, officially Opening Day on the East Coast!

I too would love to see Buxton finally put it all together and show what he can do for a full season. Definitely MVP level talent. Feels like he's been around forever and yet this will only be his age 28 season.

I hope Buxton can stay healthy. I want to see what he can do in a full season. It is really hard to see the Red Sox winning 87 if they are relying on Wacha and Hill to be their #4 and #5 for much of the season.
-
Wow, Correa just hit a no-doubter off of Wacha.
-
Watching Red Sox/Twins now, Buxton just masked his fifth homer. His swing is so good now, couple that with his athleticism, I see 40 homers IF he can play 140 games.
-
Yeah I took the bet last year when they just had to win over 80 games... I am far less confident in this team being able to win over 87 with the starting rotation they are running out there.
-
On the other hand they get to beat up on the pathetic Orioles 19 times.
-
It’s hard to estimate end of season records because rosters can change so much during the season with injuries and trades. But from this POV, the Sox seem to have some serious holes. When the Sox play JDM in LF, with Xander and Devers at SS, 3B, and Dalbec at 1B, they are giving runs away. Sox’ rotation looks thin with Sale hurt, and their ‘pen looks rough. They will need to score a LOT of runs with their pitching and defence problems.
-
Fangraphs somehow have the Red Sox winning 87 games. I like the under a lot. Anyone want to make a little wager? Squirrels???
-
If Scherzer’s injury is worse than the initial reports, the Mets are so screwed. They always downplay initial injury news, so I’m assuming there is something worse than just “not quite ready for opening day.”
