Congrats MDP! Very solid season you had! Have we managed to get him his pennant? I hope that tradition is still holding strong in this league!
-
Thanks for a fun season, everyone! Once I started trying to limit my innings pitched in August, it seemed like more often than not the benched guy would excel and the guy I played would bomb. But my bullpen remained good enough to keep the p/ip feom tanking. Despite losing mookie and him being bad when he returned, I had enough depth and flexibility to make it work. And some other good teams had worse injury luck than I did.
Am I able to redeem the actual handmade pennant somehow?
-
Maybe Next Time has decided to not return. His team has been abandoned.

Watching Cleveland and Detroit is like watching two 70 win teams battle it out. Worst playoff field of teams in my lifetime. Not one of these teams is worthy of being called a champion.

Absolutely! Great season, great group of owners. Thanks to Winnetka for top notch commissioner work.

so wild. He's such a unicorn. I find it frustrating that the only two fantasy leagues where I have him are also the two leagues where I am not winning lol... I'm like the Angels and he needs to be freed of my bad vibe teams so he can be on a winner, I guess.

65.4 points for Ohtani has to be the most in a single game for a position player that I have noticed.

It was about the bidding on Leiter and Rocker. I was not expecting that. At least I got Cam Smith (whom I preferred anyways).

Sorry guys I haven't been super active here this season. I am up to talk any trades as we are right at the trade deadline! Also was the "You got to be f'n kidding me." about you losing two auctions by $1 haha?
-
You got to be f'n kidding me.

Injuries have crushed my ability to have a stable lineup each day so my shop’s open if other contenders want to buy up for the stretch run. Still trying to win if not, but the never ending OF injuries w no return date have really slowed my momentum. Hit me up if you want one of my rentals!

Anyone want Will Smith?

Drew Gilbert, why? Another example of a top 150 prospect that gets elevated to the top 50 because he got traded to a NY team.
-
Anybody want Machado?

spoiler alert: it's me. I want everyone to note that if I lose by ~70 points this season, it can be traced directly back to this moment of incredible stupidity this morning...
-
well, guess who somehow forgot to put Cease in his rotation today and now wants to drink himself into a self-loathing stupor??
-
My favorite part is the Futures Game and they basically bury it. It was fun seeing it live years ago in Minneapolis.
-
Who else hates the all-star break and all the festivities?
-
Totally. I know that one executive got punished for it a couple years back, but sounds like it’s not an uncommon practice. Seems like you just really have to make sure the player is fully on board.
-
Something similar on what is going on with Zack Wheeler. Neither the Dodgers nor the Phillies feel particularly threatened.
-
That's a good point.
-
Could be a bit of a "phantom IL" too, though - they need to find a way to not have him blow past innings since he's never been a workhorse. The timing around the All Star Break makes it pretty ideal for this usage, tbh.
-
Just when I was talking up how many innings Glasnow was up to he goes down with a back injury. Seems like more than a tweak as he was immediately put on the 15day il.
-
Floor Michael A Taylor? I would say more like midpoint. In regards to Houck, we have seen this before several times.

I just looked it up Rafaela was not going to start his arbtration years until 2027, and he wasn't going to be a free agency until 2030. Red Sox bought 1 Non arbitration free agency year. If his value in 2030 is 8 million that would be a burdensome contract for a small market team. Red Sox do have an advantage with their fanbase, history, tourism, netflix show etc.
-
I don't think teams buy out arb years to maximize the value of players' year-one salaries, so it doesn't really matter even if his current salary is 1000x overpay. Seems like his floor is a michael a taylor who can also play ss, which may not be a value at $8 mil, but also isn't likely to become an albatross even if he remains a below-average hitter. But hes still young and its early to tell if the extension will provide much value.
-
How much control years did Ragaela have left? Red Sox money doesnt matter as much as a Cincinnati, but if hes getting 8 million a year and was supposed to get 780k this year, it will be a 10x over pay. I do think the none of the top 5 salary cap teams will win the division this year.
-
I love Crawford, he's fantastic. It was a pretty good deal, Rafaela would have to be pretty bad for that contract to be terrible.
-
Crawford and Houck have both looked great so far.

Alex Cora is looking like a 10-15 WAR manager.
-
The only thing I care about with the Red Sox is that Tanner Houck lit it up last night.

Are the Red Sox regretting the Rafaela extension yet?
-
Agree w/ u, Baz. What do we have left, like 90% of games, hundreds of IL stints, and dozens of surgeries, maybe a handful of PED suspensions? I cut Domingo German last season after a few back-to-back stinkers, and he threw a perfect game in his next outing. Its a long season with a long way to go, and anything can happen. Also, if you're thinking of cutting or looking to trade an SP, hit me up.
-
Also GMs who are okay with rebuilding without improvong (like the rockies). Mlb has to be the most uncertain success rate of high draft prospects out of all the major sports.
-
My goal every year is to get more points and or a better ranking until we win a championship. Luckily this year that is 1100+ points (i want 12+) and 11th place (10 would be great). The most frustrating gms are the desperate ones who sell the future for a short window or over buy the present to compete for wildcard spot to keep a job.
-
I thought this league was "Flags Fly Forever," not "White Flags Fly Forever." I just had a 230 point day and leapt from 7th to 3rd. Anything can happen still.
-
We are about 10% into the season, still so long to go. Unless you were already in full rebuild you shouldn't be giving up until at least May and probably not even then.
-
I am going to attempt to keep up with MDP. Anyone want Crews, Kierstad, Smith-Shawver or Drew Thorpe?

Yeah, Michigan has a huge lead right now. Going to be a buyer's market. If you are thinking of trading some high priced veterans for younger players or prospects, looking like sooner rather than later is the right time.

Michigan still is in last place for innings pitch, thats statistically insane even at this point in the season.
-
Anyone so far down they want to make an offer on a $28 Strider? Entered this team in OPL and can't afford to tie up that much salary.

Im rostering some good players, but most everyone will have some slumps/injuries. The key to it all is leaving Judge on the bench for today's doubleheader....
-
M.D.P. is blowing all of us out of the water so far. He must have the highest ppg+ppi in all of Ottoneu FGS.
