Not sure I've ever seen a player auction for $3, get cut, clear waivers, get immediately auctioned for $3 again, get cut, then get claimed for $3.

to be clear, i don't think we need to add any enforcement or anything. this league is pretty genial and in the past friendly reminders have served to keep things in line. I tend to assume any rule-breaking-type behavior in this league is accidental or at least not intended to cause problems and (as happened here) will be more or less self-correcting. so...yeah. thanks all for making this an easy league to...commission? be commissioner of? is there an appropriate word for that?
-
fair enough

There is one fixed penalty (not being able to set lineups/make transactions), and one variable penalty (left to the discretion of the commish) when a team is over roster limits. Most leagues have instituted a 48 hour grace period to get legal, though there is little agreement on what should actually be done to enforce it.

My take is that you should do whatever you want in-season. There is a penalty after all with very clear rules. And if that's insufficient, we can arbitrarily add more penalties for future seasons. But your roster should be valid at the end of the season for offseason purposes.

just a little note to say that it's kinda not cool to sit with an illegal roster for extended periods of time (like, say, more than the couple days it takes to sort things out). i know the system doesn't really enforce much punishment (can't bid, trade, or set lineups) for teams that are not contending, but I think team's should be trying to stick to the roster limit rules. not intending to hand down any punishments or anything - just a reminder that 40 players + 60 day DL guys is the limit.

First Eckstein123 gets a new GM, what's next, the D-backs?? I can't handle this much change!

Excited to be here! I apologize in advance (and ex post facto) for the flurry of cuts and auctions

Welcome, Justin.

BTW, I'll be officially removing Jeff (Justin has already been added) any minute now.

Hi all - some bad news and some good news. The bad news: Jeff Zimmerman is departing the ranks of FanGraphs Staff League Two ownership to pursue other interests (like having a life). Jeff, you will be missed. The good news: ottoneu expert and relatively new rotographs writer Justin Vibber will be taking over (and probably re-naming) eckstein123 effective immediately. Word is he plans to fire the manager and coaching staff and start over.Welcome aboard, Justin.

I've got Raimel Tapia, Dylan Cozens, and a bunch of other useful cheap pieces available.

Have had some recent pretty garbage offers on Posey, DeGrom, and Duffy, and although I'm happy keeping all will listen to any serious offers before the deadline.

Looking for a little SP depth. Either cheap garbage or low-price keepers. Obviously offering very different players depending on what you have...

I'm shifting my attention from win-now pieces to offseason team management. Kershaw, Belt, Kipnis, and Lucroy are among the players I'm looking to move.

So, non-contenders, I have a YUGE opportunity for you. Clayton Kershaw might be out for the year. I could use reinforcements, at least some of which should be keepable. The asking price will never be lower. MI, SP, RP and keepers preferred.

Will package Uehara and Rodney if you are in need of decent PT/IP guys. Not looking for a ton back, just something that will help next year.

Now that Stanton-gate is over, if anyone is interested in him, let me know. I'm not married to trading him, but if someone has a burning desire to own him, always worth listening.
-
fwiw, Chad's antics forced me to lower my bid. I originally did submit a $55 bid.

In non-Stanton news, I've got some pitching depth and could deal up to two pitchers.

BTW, that offer also goes for people who think Brad is bluffing. I am not interested in keeping an expensive Stanton.
-
Been asked multiple times what I'd want via trade to up my bid on Stanton and ship him off post auction. So far my plan is still to under-bid Brad, but if you want Stanton, can't afford him and want to change my mind, let me know what you'd offer. Since I've been so public about this, I'll let everyone know if something comes up and I change my bid.
-
Or Brad is bluffing and has not bid $55.

It will either be a fun conversation to read back...or a really annoying string of emails (which I am now adding to).
-
When I got on a plane 4 hours ago, I had far fewer emails. So consider my interest piqued.
-
so i repeat my question - who is the owner who benefits more from being the one to start the stanton auction than they do from leaving you hanging until august?
