Sgt. Pepper is concerned that some of you may leave W&W. He has no interest in winning without competition, and is quietly contemplating joining an Otto Pay League. This may be why he gave the Commissioner’s job back to me.

I just looked and all 11 teams with owners have checked in after the MLB lockout began. 9 guys checked on us much more recently. We remain a viable league, and people still want to get into established Otto leagues. Grant us a season and we will have 12 active owners.

The 2022 MLB season may start on time, or it could be abbreviated as was 2020, ideally with 100 or more regular season games. But there may not even be a season. It is much too soon for fantasy leagues to lay out contingency plans. In short we don’t know what will happen, and we have no timetable for action other than Spring Training’s start. But there is just so much money out there. It all would vanish without an agreement and some semblance of a season. Owners would have no revenues, but still pay front office overhead, while watching the market value of their franchises plummet. Ordinary players will see their average five year MLB career earnings drop by more than 20%.

There will be a 2022 season.

Hang in there with Women & Whiskey. See what happens between talent and ownership. In 2020 Otto was going to carry forward that year’s renewal fees if there was no season. That seems to be a fair treatment of 2022’s unearned dues if it comes to that.

And finally, get yourself enough arms to qualify for the IP Minimum. Trades are now in season, but the offseason trade deadline is Jan 31. Go forth and deal. And re-enlist!
