Arbitration is now complete. Teams are free to trade until the keeper deadline (1/31). Owners who are not playing next year, we request you not trade or cut players, as the new owner would like to make those decisions. As a reminder, you need to drop players by 1/31 that you do not want to keep.

Owners! Today arbitration is open. For owners who are leaving, this is your last obligation to our league....to complete arbitration. DM me if you have questions but you get $25 to add to salaries. The max you can apply to any team is $3, and you must apply $1 to each team, and must spend all $25. For teams where you allocate more than $1, you can put multiple dollars on a player, $1 on multiple players, or any combination.

At this point, I have one owner (KC Moneybags) who is NOT coming back. Private message me if you have not already let me know you intentions for next year. Also private message me if you have potential new owners. We could get them involved to do their own arbitration if you have folks now.

Owners: Congratulations on completing the 2024 Season! Double Congratulations to Geezer Ripkens who defended his championship! For all owners, there is one more task to complete, even if you have decided you are not coming back next season. Arbitration starts on 10/15. It is important that you complete arbitration before leaving. If we have a new owner for your team before that, we will let you know, but please plan to conduct arbitration.

GTown has a 174 and 190 lead over KC (Stephan) and Hickman (JD). More interestingly, KC has a 16 point lead over Hickman for 10th. Finally, Vancouver (Elliot) is a lock as no one is able to pass him.
All the OPL positions are secure.
The only thing left this week is bragging rights for the teams whose positions are not yet firm.

This is the final week of the seaon! Geezer (Larry) has defended his championship (as well as making our league proud in the OPL). Roca (Tyler) will finish 2nd. Hudson (Bruce) is within striking distance of Freshmeat (Brandon), but since Bruce has exhausted his pitching points, Freshmeat is solid in 3rd, with Hudson 4th. JBO (Stephen) and Portland (Graeme) are 6 points apart, so too close to call for 5th/6th. Maple (Joe) is secure in 7th. Beef (Luke) has a 72 point lead over GTown (Paul) for 8/9

So, I did not too badly misjudge my pitching this year, just got greedy sometimes. But if all goes well with Cole today, I am out of pitching innings for the season. Nothing like offering up an incentive.

With two weeks left teams need to be with 400 points to have a chance to move up. Given that, I declare that Geezer is the 2024 League Champion as he now leads the league by 600. Hudson still has a chance to catch Freshmeat for 3rd, trailing by 235. Portland still has a chance to catch JBO for 5th, trailing by 275. Beef is in 8th, but KC trails by 149, GTown by 146 and Hickman by 306 so 8-11 are still in play. 2025 OPL eligiblity appears set with our current top 6.

If scores remain as they are now, on Monday with 2 weeks left, teams need to be within 400 points to have a shot at the team above them in the standings. Hudson would still have a shot at Freshmeat, Portland at JBO, KC & GTown at Beef and Hickman at KC and GTown. The other spots would be "clinched".

I will drop the projected standing after this week, for reasons that will be clear below.
Projected standings are: Geezer, Roca, JBO (but not really), Freshmeat, Portland (but not really), GTown (but not really) and Hudson. The but not really refers to the fact that those teams are short on games played or innings pitched, so they cannot get to the level that the batting number or hitting numbers project to. That is they will not get to 1944 games played and/or 1500 innings pitched.

The current standing remain the same as last week but Geezer has opened a gap on Roca for the lead. Freshmeat and Hudson are battling for 3rd having dropped JBO. Portland has work to do to catch JBO and Maple is at the verge of elimination (behind 608 and with 3 weeks left 600 is my practical elimination number, so I am leaving him in this week). Maple is the only player outside the top 6 with a chance to get to OPL eligible.

In the race for the final OPL spot, only Maple is within 800 points of 6th. Beef is close at 960. The next week may see the clarification of 2025 OPL eligibility.
