Folks, I don't think DeGrom has got more than two starts left in him this year. If you want him anchoring your championship team next year, let's get a deal done.
-
Who needs some Goldschmidt? Or is the race over???
-
Folks, I am up to my eyeballs in guys on the 60 day IL who are also dirt cheap, and who could be the building blocks of your championship team next year -- be in touch!
-
Damn Crows, you sniped me good on some of those
-
What he said
-
Regression to the mean is a bitch.
-
I am unhappily confronting the reality that Aroldis Chapman sucks now
-
Wander Franco, eh? Entertaining trades for great pitching and hitters with established value.
-
Deal.
-
Also taking offers for Vlad Jr, if anyone wants to trade me their whole team for him
-
Just call me the 2000s Yankees because I will happily take your aging stars today and face ruin for the following decade
-
Yes, that's the goal!
-
This trade will take Big Gibby's salary cap almost 50% higher than the start at $400.

Hey everyone, make sure you consider voting on our first "Extremely Contested Trade" . . . be part of history.
-
Voted to veto. Terrible trade. If it was mid-July and Kirk had somehow proven himself more than a 7th ranked catching prospect and another player or two was added to the mix, then maybe.
-
Oooh a mystery ......LOL
-
I voted on the trade - I will leave it at that.
-
I vetoed as well, but to the Commissioner the only decision you have made was dictated by the rules of Otteneu and I don't want a trophy, but I ask you did you veto the trade and you think it's fair thats all I ask ? I don't care I compete with my team injuries and all I don't need any help but a trade like that makes it less fun to play and compete so fine we move on ....
-
I voted to veto, let's use the rules and structure of the game; should be able to veto with a vote.
-
Point out to me where it says in the rules the commissioner should veto trades it he himself deems them as altering the "competitive balance". Jeesh man, should everyone get a trophy at the end of the season to? Here is what it says on my cancelling trade screen: "Use this section to cancel any pending trades, in the case they were accepted accidentally."
-
Thanks for your input Spanky - here is some additional insight. Instead of bitching to me about it, grow a set and do something yourself. I made it pretty clear, I won't cancel trades. If you an issue with a trade, don't cry to me about it. And ya, I guess it is a "free for all" if you can find someone to accept a bad deal. I am not here to police if your feelings get hurt over a trade. I will enforce the rules but won't make them up as we go.
-
That is not a competitive balance trade and makes no sense, as commissioner you need to grow a set that is horrible !!!!!
-
I wouldn't have made the trade, but I get it - DeGrom is worthless after the deadline. He is an obvious drop at that salary. The team that has him is out of competition and wants to get something for him. I won't venture to guess how he values Kirk. We all value players differently. So I get the basis of the trade. My biggest complaint is why not let people know he is available. If he was on the trade block and got moved for Kirk when we all had the chance to get him, fair enough.
-
No it is not like that

Isn't this kind of like the soon to be free agent being traded for prospects before the trade deadline?

so it's a free for all right Commissioner ?
-
So I hope the 2 teams in the deGrom trade feel good, nice competitive balance
-
Sent a few trade offers out. Hopefully this new trade market works in my favor as well!

There has been quite a bit of discussion around the recent Kirk for DeGromm trade. For those that have reached out to me, you do have the ability to veto the trade if you have an issue with it. If you wish to do that and don't know how, you can contact me. As commissioner, I will not be individually vetoing trades. I made that pretty clear earlier in the season and won't walk that back. The only way a trade can be vetoed is by 8 owners voting to do so.
-
It was a good move for both sides - it's hard to have any player on your roster not named Trout over $60. Roster construction just gets too hard with the depth you'll need.
-
I know! I expect nothing less.

Giving ya a little crap

But also, I'll have to cut him at EOY. So, he'll be a FA, to someone's long-term benefit.
-
Well, my last blockbuster trade netted me..............a $50 player who has been on the IL for over a month. Hopefully this one works out a little better.

No problem - it was a good question.

Nice work Capa and Big Gibby.
-
Fair! Thanks for looking into it
-
The rule you stated explicitly mentions the death of a player – not a player who potentially will never play again. There are several players within the database that one could start an auction for that haven’t played in MLB in years and conceivably won’t play again. I don’t want to make exceptions to rules that are current written. If the league feels strongly about this, we can revisit in the offseason and make a new rule. Thanks!
-
Hey Gibby – I consulted with Niv on Slack yesterday. I had not run into this request before, so I wanted to get a little background. After that conversation, I concluded that it would not be appropriate to waive the penalty rule in the case of retired players. As Niv pointed out when we draft a player, we take on all of their risks – injury, demotion, going over to Japan to play, and yes, retirement.
-
Hey commish, can I get a ruling on what happens to Jay Bruce? My personal feeling is that he should be cut for no penalty, since there's already a rule that players who will never play again (i.e., who die) are automatically cut, and since in the real world, retirement ends your salary claim. I am, however, happy to put it to a vote and clarify the rules going forward either way.
-
Hoping Joc gets it together and is worth the $17
-
I was really hoping Pederson would pass through waivers.
-
Nice trade gentlemen
-
And Keston; also hurting me, lol.
-
Looking to trade Musgrove; I think I have the pitcher depth to not take too much of a hit, but need some infielders. Freaking Moncada.......
-
Other way around! Pay me a dollar for this beautiful one-time top 50 prospect reliever with a projected FIP under 4.
(just don't look at this game stats from this year)
-
As in, you give me a dollar to take Matt W.?
-
Would anybody like Matt Wisler for a buck in loan?
-
Folks, if it hasn't become clear to you already, Aaron Hicks is very much available -- somebody trade me something cheap and replacement value and get him out of my life already
