(im not interested in a vote at all) This is too big of a feature of Otteneu to take away.

Ottoneu was designed to mirror the economics of real baseball. Think of what the Padres did with Hosmer recently. Giving loans is a powerful tool - teams that do it should make sure they are rewarded accordingly.
-
The argument doesnt make sense to me. Its mostly the teams competing for the top 5 spots that are using incoming outgoing loans. If they want my $60 Soto and Im providing a $20 loan to them. So be it. Chances are that the player they are receiving with the loan will be dropped after arb. Hopefully the manager trading Soto gets a nice return of talent in exchange. If the players at the bottom of the pool are serious about improving their team this only makes sense to do.

It would appear that we have two groups.
a) Some owners like the excitement of more trades (that the Incoming/Outgoing loans provide)
b) Some owners like the integrity of a salary cap (which would probably result in fewer trades)
-
I'm not sure I understand the issue, don't you need another owner to offer you a loan via trade, in order to increase your $400 dollar budget?
I mean, I've had some terrible trade offers where someone wants me to pick up a large sum of faab (for nothing) but I treat that like real teams do, which is I use extra money like an asset. If you want me to give you a loan on faab, then I need some incentives to do so. I personally love this rule, makes it unique.

Ok I get it, but I think your thinking of it much too small. Without loans, trades early on in the year would be nearly impossible and trades later in the year wouldn't be meaningful. The point of them is to not let a players dollar amount get in the way of their actual value. There's other cool applications of loans we haven't had the chance to use yet too. Trading for a seriously overvalued player, just to drop him in order to gain cap space for one. Loans are what keep players moving.
-
I don't think I can explain it any better than A van down by the river did. It seems to go against everything else the rules are trying to do with a hard salary cap but then you blow it open with loaning money making the salary cap mute. So unless you can find an owner willing to do the same type of trade you are left with a $400 cap vs a $500 cap. Tough to compete against. Just a rule I would like to see tweaked.
-
What is the issue with the loaning feature of Otteneu? Am I missing something?
Its what makes this format unique.

.....By the way this is nothing against anyone who utilizes this feature. I would do the same under similar circumstances. The option is there when you make a trade, why not use it....... And on that note, I am going to propose a vote on Oct 31st to ask owners if they want to keep the Incoming/Outgoing Loan rule or not, for next season.
-
The Ottoneu league rules have been carefully crafted, such that you must manage your $400 salary cap. You need decide what your bidding on each player. Plus you need to decide whether to keep a player
or not after the Oct 15 Arbitration allocations.....I Love All of this about the Ottoneu League........ and then
.....Ottoneu blows it with the Incoming and Outgoing Loans rule. :( I really hate this 'feature' of Ottoneu. Suddenly, owners don't need to really worry about the $400 ca
-
Is there a league setting to maximize the amount of incoming loans a team can have?
-
What's funny is you often drop the player you pick up, it's just too late for the rest of us to put them back out before the week starts. So we have to pick between overpaying to claim them or not having the player that week. As most of these guys are week to week dependant, the players often don't get put back out. It really is like you have 80 players on your roster with the stipulation once you send one down to the minors, you have to wait 30 days to bring them back up.
-
LOL. yes, I've been a bit of a "bully" lately. It all started when I couldn't find a trade for Juan Soto. Next, Dropping Soto, and flush with cash, I continued down this horrible path by bidding up the price of the Auction players. sorry. ;)
-
Man, clearing all that space has allowed Andy to pretty much hold the entire FAAB hostage for the better part of a month. I wonder what the record for transactions in Ottoneu is?
-
You envisioned a non- injured Juan Soto being dropped in June, and it not being a mistake? Credit to Andy to figuring out one of the secrets of this league.
-
This is exactly what I envision. Dedicated owners that try to better their team if not win!!

Wow. I did not expect that. Hey John, when you said you wanted a more active league, was this what you were envisioning?

Hey all--Now that we are a little further into the season, I'm taking stock of where my team is at. I wanted to throw it out there that if anyone is looking to shed any bigger contracts, I'm willing and able to absorb those in any potential trade. Looking for help on the offensive side of things, not necessarily any specific position. Thanks everyone and I hope you're all enjoying the season so far!

Best of luck this season to all!! I'm looking forward to seeing some of my young guys playing a bigger role this year!
-
OPENING DAY! Get those lineups set before the first game this afternoon. Good luck all.
-
Correct John: "All pitchers can be placed in either SP or RP positions on the lineup and roster organizer pages. However they will only accrue statistics if you use them in the same manner as their MLB team"
-
Have noticed something in the rosters. Correct me if I am wrong Brad....If a starter is in a relief position spot and starts a game and gets a win, that win does not count? correct? Or visa versa...if a relief pitcher is in a starters position and gets a save...it does not go towards that teams total saves.

Here is a message from the Ottoneu admin person
"Once he shows up on the Cubs official transactions 4 (clears physical, everything), heβll be unhidden and available for auctions."

Any updates on this Brad? I'm still not able to bid on Suzuki? :(
-
Some confusion over Seiya Suzuki. Some of us have received notice that he is up for auction but he does not show up on the auction list. I'll monitor this and keep you posted.
-
Everyone is always available, but Iβm not sure Iβve hit that level of desperate yet. Talk to me in a week when I find out Troutβs out the first month of the season.
-
Are you saying Tatis is available? >:)
-
Well Jason I have one thatβs gonna be injured half the season tying up $51β¦ Things could be worse.
-
No regrets but looking for a SS if anyone has a spare and wants to swing a trade :D DM me if you see anything line up and GL everyone during the season!!
I've been really enjoying this league, a ton of fun. Thanks Brad for setting everything up!
-
Thanks guys. Buyers regret? Trading is now open. Looking forward to a competitive season.

Tonight is the auction! Please be 10-15 minutes early so we can start at 6 sharp!

Your Ottoneu subscriptions will be expiring soon. Click on the Ottoneu logo at the top and then click on My Dashboard. You will see your team name, and at the end of that line is "Extend your Dynasty." Click that to pay. Clever, but not super clear! $20USD, same as last year.

All I'm saying is there's plenty of time to do the auction after the 7th, not to mention I would be pretty surprised if the season starts on the 31st anyway. On top of that, there's usually 20+ injuries in the first week of Spring Training. It would be good that we didn't start the auction prior to that. A counterpoint to that is that there might not be very many important players in the auction this year, so who knows really.
-
Not rushing at all Darryl. I absolutely do not want to postpone an auction because of the uncertainty of MLB scheduling. We have time to hash out an auction date now. Everyone has a busy schedule. You yourself said you you are working 12 hour days and looking after a youngster. If we wait too long and all of a sudden MLB says games are on I do not want to rush.

You don't want to rush it too much John. I would bet someone else's money that we will still be in lockdown by that Keeper deadline. That's worrisome enough, but we absolutely, in my opinion, don't want to be doing our auction during it. There are too many people still unsigned. I don't remember, how many sessions did it take to complete the auction last year? All I remember is I had spent all my money too early and "lucked out" by Eloy Jimenez getting injured so I could justify droppi
