League Message Board

TBD’s team has been claimed and maybe now it will finally receive an actual team name and not TBD - haha. I’m guessing something with Bronx, Bombers or Yankees...
-
Hey y'all I just gave the commish a heads up that I am going to have to abandon my team before even really getting started. I had some expensive life stuff come up and I have to scale back fantasy baseball for the year. Sorry to leave the league with a hole before the keeper deadline, but I don't think it'll be too tough to find a new owner. Much appreciated and best of luck to everyone in the league.
-
Another reminder -- please make sure you have renewed your team and are paid up for next year by Jan. 31. Apparently if you do not do this, your team will be auto-abandoned and anyone will be able to claim it.
-
Reminder: Two weeks from today is when your rosters need to be set prior to the auction draft for next season. Make your trades and cuts as needed.
-
What's up y'all. I'm still working on a new name but wanted to hit the ground running first. Nobody on my roster is untouchable, so let me know if you're interested in anyone or send me an offer.
-
TBD’s team has been claimed by a new manager.
-
TBD has left our league. I’ve posted his team to the Abandoned Teams List. We’re in less of a rush right now since the next deadline (when cuts need to be made) isn’t until Jan. 31. Let’s see what happens in the next few days and we’ll go from there.
-
Welcome to the league Big Papi.
-
Also, please note Feb. 1, 2021 is NOT our draft day. The system spit that out and is not allowing me to change it at this time. We'll get a day set that fits for everyone.
-
My arbitration is done
-
Happy to join your league, my Ottoneu hobby is beginning to look a lot like a full time job....haha with all those teams to keep on track. Veteran seems like I'm old, well I am. Hope we get to have a full baseball season for 2021, be safe people
-
And just like that, the spot is filled. Our new owner is an Ottoneu veteran who is, I'm sure, looking to make some changes this offseason.
-
Chico's Bail Bonds has gone dark on us. I have listed the team on the abandoned teams list, and put out feelers in other leagues in hopes of getting an owner today or tomorrow so they can complete arbitration. If anyone knows someone who might have interest in joining the league, please send me a message ASAP.
-
Arbitration has opened! You will now see a new button labeled "Arbitration" next to the "Lineups" button on the main league page. Once you click that button, on the next screen, you will see a dropdown of all the teams in the league. Click through each team to assign the arbitration dollars to the players you desire. As always, let me know if you have any questions.
-
I think Ottoneu made an error and paid out winners for our league. Sit tight if you received a PayPal from them this morning.
-
Great season, everyone. I have made the changes I detailed via email ($50 league fee and Roto format rather than h2h). If you missed the email, let me know and I can resend it to you or discuss further here. Haterade and Yellow Darts, you have been sent your winnings via Venmo. As you can see, the calendar has now been updated. Check back in sometime between October 15 and November 14 to complete your arbitration allocation. It doesn't lock until November 14, so you can make changes until then.
-
This final "week" matchup will cover two weeks of games. I think we all get 10 starts each week. At least I'm hoping so. I guess we'll all find out together.
-
Apparently I missed a step when setting up the league that changed the ability to start 5 SPs in one day during the playoffs. This has been fixed, and is now working like it was in the regular season -- 10 starts per week, with 5 SP slots per day until you go below 5 starts left.
-
Thanks everyone for a fun regular season, but ready for the playoffs! I was hesitant about the multiple opponents format at the start of the season, but honestly thought it was a nice twist to the game. I want to wish everyone the best of luck in the upcoming playoffs!
-
Congrats to regular season champion #Haterade, who is currently ranked third in all of Ottoneu for points in the h2h FanGraphs points format. It should be a great postseason race as we move back to a more traditional one opponent format. I'm not sure if a consolation tournament kicks off next week for the four teams who did not qualify for the postseason. I hope it does so everyone can keep playing and checking in. Hope all have enjoyed it so far. The offseason promises to be very fun, too.
-
Got your offer, Nesara. I'll take a look and get back to you by the deadline.
-
I don’t think we can ever require it. At this stage, being an “inaugural” draft. I think some people will be married to their core before they get fully immersed in strategizing long-term & approaching their rosters as “fluid” under the cap. But once it gets moving I think guys will start to look at the buying/selling/rebuilding/etc and that’ll get more chatter. I do think having a monthly trade block update is a good idea. Have that in another league and it works/generates conversations
-
I’m all for it, Daigos. Seems reasonable and it’s always good to get some chatter going.
-
Can we possibly agree to send some sort of message to a trade request. Like we are close, I’m not interested in trading this player, you’re way off in value, sub this player for that, or at the very least a fuck off..... lol. It just seems like at least a courtesy to me that we communicate with each other in that realm. Nobody has really updated their trade block so potential trade partners are going in blind. Some dynasty leagues I’m in it’s a rule to respond to an offer. Just a suggestion.

Right now, 10 people have paid me the extra $20 for the prize pool. Given the bizarre nature of this season, I'm considering changing up the way the payouts work. I'm thinking, at the moment: $100 to playoff champion, $60 to playoff runner up, $40 to regular season champion. I would adjust these numbers accordingly if either of the other two would like to pay the extra $20 to join the prize pool. What does everyone think?
-
At least we have 40 player rosters here to shuffle through when 20% of the league has their games cancelled on a Friday night.
-
This whole "is the game canceled because player/team has covid" is adding an unexpected wrinkle to managing your lineup.

FanGraphs had a server go down today. It’s why live data is currently missing. They hope to be back up soon-ish.
-
Have heard some are struggling to see the live stats. You can either click “Today’s Stats” at the top of the main page, or in your lineup page, toggle the view from Season to Today. I prefer the latter option. It updates faster, generally.
-
Your scores won’t matter much anyways. I’ll be balls deep in ya’ll by the time the season is over.

FYI message to all from the Ottoneu creator: "Live scoring is not up quite yet. Our provider (shared with FanGraphs) is aware and we’re working with them. Will update once it is working."
There is live scoring, it just sounds like they are having some trouble as this season begins.
-
Good Luck to all. Let’s hope baseball stays back! Finally! Baseball!
-
Important nuance adding on to Nick's message: This obviously goes for anyone who is an "opener", too. If he has a check mark next to his name that he is starting, you have to put him in an SP slot to earn his points toward your total.
-
Guys...I don’t think anyone’s roster is setup like this but I learned the hard way on here last season - that you cannot plug a SP into a RP slot (or vice versa). The roster page will allow you to but you’ll be awarded no points. In the past, I know some have tried this on yahoo. Don’t get burnt on here by attempting it. Even if the guy only has a RP designation. It won’t count. Put him in the SP slots when he is up.
-
A reminder: I notice several teams have not yet set their lineups to start the season. Please do so before games begin tomorrow otherwise you'll be scoring zero points.
-
I encourage everyone to look at the rules page -- there is a link in the top right hand corner of this page. There is an entire section on adding and dropping players.
-
All auctions are now blind bid. There are no notifications to what other managers are bidding. The highest bidder will get the player at $1 more than the second highest bid. If no one else bids, the person who started the auction will acquire the player for $1 regardless of what he bid.
-
Do we get notifications if a $1 nomination gets outbid for a free agent? So we can up our bid if we like?

It appears the schedules have now been fixed.
-
Correction -- those schedules you see right now are not "offical" per Ottoneu. For example, it has Pickle Traphouse and I playing twice in the first week, which is not supposed to happen. Official schedules will post in the near future.
-
The schedule for our league is now posted. As you can see, to accommodate for the shortened MLB season, we will all be facing off against four other teams simultaneously. Assuming MLB is back to a 162-game season next year, we'll revert to a normal one opponent per week schedule. This sure will be different, but it's going to be pretty fun, too.
-
One addendum to Nick’s note on FA auctions. You can also submit bids that put your team over the $400 cap. If you win with one of these bids, it will also put your team into fault, and you will have to cut a player. When you cut a player half of his salary comes off your cap. The other half remains as a penalty until another manager picks him up. Cutting a $1 player gives you no cap relief until he is picked up by another team. If you are in fault, DO NOT CUT a $1 player.
-
Heads up / reminder to those auctioning players after the draft. It’s a silent auction. Best bid wins. Anyone can bid. Winner pays $1 more than second highest bid. You can bid/sign a guy even with 40 rostered (Provided you have enough $), your team would go into fault and require a cut. Should be a flurry of activity headed on that front.
-
Ok —where should Chico’s send it?
-
Daigos, TBD and Chico's Bail Bonds - The other 9 managers have been playing a Yahoo league together for several years. They all paid me the standard $40 fee for that league in March. I refunded $20 to all of them to cover the fee for this league and kept the remaining $20 for a prize pool. If you wish to be part of the prize pool, let me know and you can send me $20 via Venmo or PayPal. If not, no worries, you just won't be eligible to win any of the cash. Looking forward to Sunday's auction.
