Definately go for April 3, I have 3 drafts on the 3/20 and 4 on the 3/27
-
Looks like we have a deal! Word is April 7 will be Opening Day. If we are looking at Sundays to draft, that leaves: 3/13, 3/20, 3/27 and 4/3. I think we can all agree this Sunday (3/13) is too soon unless this coming free agent bonanza really hits hard. What do we think about the other options?

I agree, we can wait and weekend afternoons are great for me too
-
Agree that we can wait and see what happens with the negotiations before setting an auction date
-
I would prefer that we wait until things are settled. I’d rather not set a date and have to continue to move it around. The traditional Sunday afternoon time slot also works best.

What a final day of cuts. Now it comes time to sort out our auction draft day. I’m guessing most want to wait until there is a CBA agreement and free agency finishes before we pick a day to draft - but that’s just a guess. Please weigh in with your thoughts.
-
Final Reminder - all cuts need to be made by 11:59 pm Eastern Time tonight to have your roster in shape for the pre-season auction draft. If your roster is not compliant by the end of the day, you will not be able to participate in that auction.
-
Daigos - While I generally agree with your point, Niv (who runs Ottoneu) posted about 5 days ago to the community board saying he wouldn't be extending the keeper deadline a second time. He is the one who sets that date and his concern is further extension could jeopardize draft windows. The pre-season auctions can't happen until after the keeper date, and he wants to leave ample time for leagues to set their draft dates.
-
With the season more than likely delayed do we need to be in a rush with keeper declaration? We still have players that havent signed or possible trades that can still take place. Idk pitchers and catchers report next week normally but that will almost certainly not happen now. IDK I just feel like we have some time still just my two cents

Friendly reminder that everyone has seven days (including today) to make cuts and get your rosters in shape for the draft. Once the Feb. 15 keeper deadline passes, we can start discussing what to do about our draft day and time.
-
I go crazy when season starts and have to do so many lineups every day but I'm a sucker when I see a team that I like that I can claim. Having fun but I lost all my hair...haha
-
Papi should be the resident trade consultant. His vast knowledge of multiple leagues (50?+ on Ottoneu) particularly in trades is pretty much invaluable. We've connected on many trades in the leagues we overlap. I don't know how you tell them all apart but I do know if you ever stopped playing, this entire platform might collapse.
-
Personnaly, I don't have any issue with Wheeler trade, maybe the guy a little bit too much to get him but this is what's fun with fantasy baseball and especially Ottoneu, If you really like a player, you may get him if you put the right price. Wouldn't of made the trade myself but I'm OK with it, don't see any collusion for my part.
-
I smell collusion!

It carries over into prospects, too. Prospects have a ton of value because they may become a 6+ ppg guy while being very cheap. Not to pick on Daigos but you have $194 committed to 6 hitters. They were worth 4984 points in 21'. 15k shy of winning w/only $200 left. The Ottoneu surplus value is -$47 on those 6. You can get an elite player with $47. This is prevalent a lot in our league & the lack of turnover hurts teams IMO. We need a salary readjustment. Cutting the big $ guys would help
-
To piggy back on T-Rex for a minute - making trades doesn't guarantee success. We've had 4 this offseason. I'm in another league that has had 40. I think a lot of it has to do w/the initial draft because there are guys people are clinging to that are extremely overpaid. You don't see this in other leagues that often because maximizing your $400 is usually more critical. Hence why cheap production is so valuable. More so than superstar players.
-
This is the beauty of this type of league. So far we have 3 ways of looking at this trade. All with sound reasoning behind it. My ultimate hope as someone with a major stake in this league is this helps spur more roster action and more dialogue. I keep an eye on who visits the league and when, and we have a very active group of people checking in, which is good. But, major moves via trade are minimal. Hoping this dialogue can peel back the layers a bit and leads to more future action like this.
-
I think everyone is in agreement Wheeler had the better 21’. It’s can he repeat & for how long. Also, while you so astutely pointed out that Wheeler had 58% more output in WAR, the number was only 34% on Ottoneu. And that 34% was driven by IP, which is a weakness for McCuller’s. But Wheeler’s weakness is production. 2 of his season’s have been >5ppi. Every season but 1 has been above 5ppi for McCuller’s. Factor in the youth, salaries, Garver, Greene - not really seeing the issue.
-
All pitchers have risk. Wheeler 7.7 war. McCullers 3.3. Wheeler has no k jury history McCullers has already surgery once and now had a forearm strain. Cmon this is crazy you got the better end of the trade and k commend you on it but lets not try and convince everyone else we’re all taking crazy pills here.

Now onto the fun part - let’s get some player dialogue. I am a big McCuller’s fan on Ottoneu. His low IP keeps him cheap but his PPI is 5+. High on Garver/Greene. Their ownership window is far better.
Wheeler has risk. I’m betting on him. My feeling was he faded / they corrected. Worst 2 months we’re July/August but in Sept. he had his best month. So I’m banking on that being him re-adjusting & not weak September rosters. Metrics all look pretty good supporting the “breakout

2 yrs in the league and this is the most banter the league has had so if this is what it takes to get some talk so be it I’ll take the bad for the good.

2) I think guys value different things differently & should. Barring collusion, nothing should really be vetoed.
3) prospects, cap relief, cap management, etc. all has value. How much? That’s up to the owner (see #2). I see a lot of deals revolving around prospects. I see a lot of cap relief moves. Cheap value matters when the cap is involved. As does depth.
So I think you’re both right. There is a lot being overlooked (player specific & Ottoneu vs Dyna

I’m not mad and don’t believe there is collusion I just was trying to justify it my head. I do t know it all not bye a long shot. McCullers may not pitch for first part of season Greene won’t come tribute until may at earliest and will be in an IP limit. Garver may have you 19 stats but if he doesn’t then he’s steep even at 8. Wheeler has been good on a crappy team and now will provide ACE stats barring injury. Cole is 33. Don’t see the same value to 2 years down the line. Again my two cents

I had messaged on the side. Didn’t expect there to be much activity on the board. But I think this presents a unique opportunity (esp w/some the newer owners) to generate dialogue. So I’ll address the trade & then open it up.
1) I agree w/both of you. Call it bias. I felt it was fair. Really, an overpay. I know the risk/reward in Wheeler. If he isn’t 21’ ZW, he’s probably a cut. If he is 21’ Wheeler, he provides elite bang for the buck. I have depth at SP and C, so it was a

Unfortunately, in my experience, you can't be mad at how someone evaluates their players. You can only be mad when you sniff collusion.
With that said, Wheeler has never had a season like that. He's already in his 30s. And he pitches in a hitters park.
McCullers is younger, has a better K/9 than Wheeler at that point in his career, and is less than half the price.
Seems like some good old fashion buy-low, sell-high.
-
Love that there is some dialogue. I saw it as a 3-for-1 plus some minor cap relief with two of them having pretty high upsides. Wheeler was a monster last year, no doubt, but I think that’s the fun of this type of league - being able to do an offseason 3-for-1 to potentially deepen your roster and look more toward the future, if so desired. As commish, I’m happy to see trade action and discussion around it. Hope it all remains civil, but ok if it goes sideways, too.
-
A top 24 dynasty player for a prospect, a recovering SP from TJ and Garver. Idk I would never be the guy that talks down a trade but I have hard time digesting this one. Just my two cents happy to be talked off the ledge lol.

Reminder -- Extend your dynasty by Jan. 31 (one week from today) by paying your 2022 fee. If you don't, your team will be automatically abandoned by Ottoneu and set off a whole mess of a process to get it back. So, please, renew by the 31st to keep everything rolling smoothly.
-
All - Ottoneu moved the keeper deadline to February 15 because of the MLB lockout. But the payment renewal deadline remains January 31. Make sure to pay by that date.

Pickle Traphouse has been claimed. Welcome to the league, Doug.
-
The new owner of Pickle Traphouse has vanished on us. He did not complete his arbitration (even though he checked in frequently in Oct/Nov), and has not responded to my inquiries. Therefore, I have marked his team abandoned in hopes of it being claimed by someone. I've also started recruiting options. If anyone knows of someone interested in joining this league, please let me know.
-
I'm in a Yahoo 12 team head-to-head keeper league that is looking to replace an owner. This is a challenging league with a unique set-up. There is $25 annual fee with top 4 positions getting a payout. If anyone is interested, please let me know and I will provide more details and/or direct you to the commissioner.
-
Another reminder -- complete your arbitration by Sunday the 14th. There are still five managers who have not done this.
-
Reminder -- arbitration must be completed by Sunday, November 14. Please complete this as soon as possible.
-
We are an allocation league. So you will have $25 to apply to raises. $1 has to go to every team. No more than $3 to any one team. Message board handles pretty much everything. You can also message me if you have league questions, or any other manager if you have questions for them.
-
Which arbitration option do we use? Also, I’d there a league Discord, or does the message board handle all league communications?
-
Reminder -- arbitration opens tomorrow. If anyone has any questions for how the process works, just let me know. You can also check out this link: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules#offseason and scroll down to part "d." in the Offseason section.

Will be back in 2022

Welcome. Thanks for joining so quickly!
-
As a Rockies fan (by choice) it only seems fitting to let the status quo continue, no matter how questionable the decision making that led there. Pickle Traphouse will return in 2022.
-
We have a taker for our dearly departed Pickle Traphouse. We shall see if the franchise name continues or is rebranded under new management.
-
Thrillers planning to return for next year. Thanks for another fun season.
-
Thanks, all. There are some feelers out to fill the spot about to be vacated. Let me know if you know of someone interested. If there is no traction in a week to ten days or so, I’ll post the team on the abandoned teams list.
-
Congrats, T-Rex and Haterade!

Congrats to T-Rex for championship and to Haterade and Track Power for making the podium. Thanks for great job Commish, hope we get exciting baseball in the next month and a half
-
Now that I have risen into the Top 10 for the first time all year... I will be bowing out with my participation trophy in hand. Speak well of me -- the Pickle Traphouse is being abandoned. (Thanks Jet; it's been more fun than I expected -- and I mean that as a major compliment. Huge improvement over "typical" fantasy baseball)
