Clearly, some others in the league don’t agree with this approach. We will wait for the 48 hour deadline that has been post hoc established. If Yoshi isn’t claimed or put up for auction, we will act accordingly to become cap compliant. I appreciate the enthusiasm from our fellow league members. It’s much better to have active members who care. Now, back to my vacation. Message 2/2

Other manager from Julio here checking in while on vacation. Thank you for the entertaining reading this evening. Our intention was never to circumvent any rules. I don’t see any specific time stipulations in the rules, and we were willing to accept the roster freeze penalty in an effort to improve our team in a league with some obvious disparity. We are of the belief that dropping an expensive player and waiting for the waiver process was actively trying to fix our roster. Message 1/?

Yoshi waivers processes Monday July 29 11:19 AM ET. I'll give you until 3pm the start of the first game (TOR@BAL) of the new week.
-
Honestly that’s fine. I don’t think a 48 hour rule is necessary and I think it could cause headaches for you to keep track of, but I guess that’s your prerogative. If yoshi clears waivers and no one starts a new auction shortly after that, I have no problem cutting other guys to get compliant. It’s what I would’ve done anyway. But I don’t know where that 48 hours is gonna end, so you gotta tell me and I’ll meet it.
-
I mentioned the 48 hour mark for Yoshi to clear waivers or another team claims. Feel like that will give your team enough info to make a move.
-
We added a guy for $40 and immediately dropped one of the best young pitchers in the game (albeit injured) for $54. And now we just want to see what happens with waivers. Theres nothing unreasonable about that, and if that’s not within the spirit of the rules, then I don’t know what is.
-
We’re having this discussion one day after picking up Acuna, while Yamamoto is still on waivers. My issue is folks raising a fuss and acting like it’s “been days” when it’s literally been hours and we’re clearly working on it. I’m not advocating to be able to have an illegal roster for an unreasonable amount of time. I just don’t think there’s anything unreasonable about the situation right now, and I don’t think an arbitrary 48 hour rule makes sense. Who’s even gonna police that going forward?
-
And one other thing whilst I’m ranting - NYS, while I get the frustration with Papi zigging with his bids while many of us zag, and playing more leagues than I could grok without having a psychotic episode, that’s entirely his prerogative as a manager. He’s a pretty savvy trade partner (dammit), and has some killer rosters if you take the time to look.
-
I generally don’t get sucked in to rules arcana debates, but I’ve always understood the spirit of the applicable rules to be something like “Only submit bids that can yield a legal roster by corresponding moves/cuts to the as-is roster, rather than to a hypothetical could-be roster”. In this case, if other owners decided to wait on Yoshida bids due to their own salary situations and/or doubts as to Yoshida’s health, what then? How long over roster limits is too long?
-
We will not be waiting until another team completes an Auction for Yoshi. You shouldn't be carrying an invalid roster. Making high bids have their risk towards your cap. Believe you should be able to make the proper cuts. Especially if you can take the time in the chat.
-
Why wouldn’t the commish allow an auction for Yamamoto? That a second new rule you’re trying to create out of thin air?
-
Ottoneu addresses this situation and explicitly says that teams are allowed to add players and free up space after. We cut our most expensive player within 24 hours of going over the limit. Gonna see what happens with waivers, and then we’ll do what needs to be done.
Again, you’re creating an issue where there is none. Nothing has been done outside the rules.
-
I mean it's ultimately up to the commissioner, so whatever he decides I'll abide with. I've been pretty consistent in saying we should just follow the rules that exist as closely as possible, which in this case would mean not allowing a hypothetical (even if probable) future auction to be your "plan" for having a legal roster (which hopefully commish won't even allow to happen in this circumstance). The reason it matters is that it's unfair to everyone else who is following the rules.
-
Why can't we just resolve a roster issue that shouldn't be such a big deal. Don't make a move if your roster can't fit that player. Seems like an issue that doesn't need be there.
-
We all know Yamamoto is gonna get picked up dude. Probably not on waivers, but someone’s absolutely gonna start an auction for him immediately. You’re creating an issue out of nothing and trying to create an arbitrary new rule to fix a problem that doesn’t exist.
-
Correct, so you're allowed to bid on and win the auction for Acuna even if it makes your roster illegal, per rule 5d. What you aren't allowed to do is carry that illegal roster for any significant length of time (which has now been clarified by the commissioner), per 1c. Really pretty cut and dry.
-
Didn’t know that about points though. That surprises me.
-
Rule 5d:
Teams are allowed to bid such that they would go over roster or cap limits if they win the auction. If they do win the auction, they will have to get under roster and cap limits before they can set their lineups, make trades, or bid on other auctions
-
You do actually continue to accrue points. More importantly, rule 1c says:
"At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner."
-
Why make an arbitrary new rule just because one guy complains? League rules already deal with it. Can’t do anything but drop players until the roster is compliant, and can’t score points when the team is non compliant.
-
As commissioner I think 48 hours should be enough time to resolve roster issues. Monday would be a fair timeline with waivers processing. Teams should be able to make that work.
-
Oh I 100% agree with giving them a bit of time, just think we should be clear on the deadline. For instance I don't think hoping someone starts an auction for Yamamoto after he clears waivers and intentionally caring an illegal roster in the meantime should be allowed. If he's claimed off waivers then fine, but I think commish should set a clear expectation here on what's kosher and what isn't.
-
Fine with me NYS, what does it matter to you how many leagues I'm in, my bsusiness not yours. Everyone is allowed to bid whatever they want on auctions if you manage your money correctly, so if you don't want to do it, well it's OK with me but don't blame me for doing something that's within the rules and accessible to every owner if they want to.
-
They added Acuna on 27th and Cut Yoshi on 28th. There could be a waiver pick up of Yoshi. The team won't be able to make new bids for players. I don't mind giving them a little time to make cuts. I posted to just give a friendly reminder.
-
Per rules "The manager will be forced to cut a player to resolve this issue, and will not be able to perform any other activities in the game, including editing and making auction bids. However, bids already placed will be processed as described in section V. below, and trades that have already been accepted will process as expected"
-
This comes from AKA who I will not personally be in a league with him again. He has like over 300 leagues and just makes crazy bids due the fact he is overwhelmed.

I agree, calm down, this happens to almost everyone in a season, we all have lives around Ottoneu, so take a deep breath and have a nice day
-
Why all the concern about this illegal roster in particular? There have been tons of illegal rosters throughout the season that no one gets upset about.
-
And he is still not legal. If you are going to do a bold move have a plan. I think that is what annoys folks.

It’s been like 24 hours man, calm down. Already cut a $54 player. Clearly we know.
-
What's the timeline on enforcing this? Been a few days already...
-
Yes still needs to make more cuts to get under salary cap
-
Ballyard needs to get team legal

That’s insane and serious commitment. Impressive yet crazy. I’m just glad you aren’t a bot something.

Do it alone in my little office at home, established a method to do lineups, unfortunetaly 20$ leagues I do less frequently but when I do it's for 5-7 days in advance so unless there are postponed games or injuries, my lineups are always up to date, the other leagues (50, 75 and 100) are done on rotation every 2-3 days. Emails, trades, auctions and waivers are done every morning (I get about a 1000 emails a day, sometimes more). Take me out of here!!!! Nah, I'm having fun
-
I hope “papi” has a paid staff of managers in a cubicle bullpen that work around the clock to run all those teams geez louise good luck with that. Seems pretty miserable to me but what do I know I’m just a simpleton with two teams.
-
Team AKA Big Papi Please make the necessary moves to validate your roster. You are over the roster limit. You recently added a player while over the limit
-
LOL well that changes everything
-
If you "pencil in" salaries in the Roster Organizer it will subtract that from your available cap space on that page, which I'm guessing is what's causing the difference. Looks like you've got $55 for 10 roster spots in reality!
-
It says I have $15 of cap budget left on my team page but in the auction room I think it says i have $55. How does that work?
-
Auction Draft is Tomorrow at 7pm. Draft should take a couple of hours to complete. Any issues with anyone making it?
-
The Auction Draft is in 10 days, so plan to make the necessary arrangements for March 19th at 7PM ET.
-
Trades open back up after auction draft
-
Will we open a trading period before the auction?
-
Final March 19th 7pm. Start time could change if needed. I would like to get draft done before first game. Please plan ahead.
-
Up to you, commish. But either way I think we should get a firm date locked in sooner than later.
-
Another option is March 19th for the draft. Looks like only 2 teams marked as unavailable.
-
That seems bad, considering the players involved in those two games. I understand that there aren't a lot of good time slots available but we have 3+ weeks to work with before real games start.
-
The stats from the opening series in South Korea won’t count if an Ottoneu league waits until after those games to mark its auction as complete.
-
Do stats from the two games prior to 3/27 get applied retroactively?
