I vote for allocation
-
I'm for whatever the rest of the leagure prefers. Let's vote on it. Please let me know your preference by midnight this Friday.
-
Arbitration starts next week, 10/15. There are two types of arbitration: allocation and vote off. Our league is currently set to vote off, which was selected at inception. Before the season, several people expressed a preference for allocation. If we are to change to allocation, we should do so now. Alternatively, we could go with vote off for this season, and readdress the issue in the spring.

Congrats to Comic Relief Pitcher!
-
Congratulations RP!
-
Thanks to Yo La Tengo and everyone else who competed the whole year to make it a competitive league. It was a unique season, and I just happened to be in first when it ended. A lot of the categories where tightly packed, and the standings easily could have flipped if the season lasted another week or two. I hope to see everyone back next year as well!
-
Congratulations Comic Relief Pitcher! Very impressive surge to the championship! This was my first ottoneu season. Even though it was a strange year, I had a great time with this league. Hope to see everyone back next year!

I set a lineup every day of bad players. Doesn't help much.
-
Yeah I didn’t realize I didn’t have a lineup set pretty much the first two weeks of the season. Oops. And it screwed me for the whole year.

Friar Jim, you and me both. This league confuses me.

man- if I could actually remember to set a lineup, i'd be doing a lot better. might have 1 or 4 too many leagues this year with the season postponement and me filling time with drafts. hope everyone is doing well and staying safe, 6 weeks to go!

Want starting pitching. Hit me up

Hopefully, I will learn to nominate the right player by the end of the season (Belichick, RIP). But this is not a knock on Tyler White...I am sure he will be a stud if he ever gets back into MLB. If you are rebuilding, beat the rush and claim him now! ;)
-
I sent a few offers. Hit me up with counters. Or if there are other teams looking to trade, I'm ready to deal. Let's get this league moving!
-
I'm open to trades, offer away
-
Send me a proposal
-
Is anybody up for trades? It is kind of quiet here.
-
Agree with both of you. Commish is doing a great job. Lead us through a very nice draft. Unfortunately, also had to deal with Belichick’s tantrums and handled it well. Best for all that he is gone. My sense is that rest of league is solid and will do well limited need for interventions. If the job becomes an excessive burden, I am sure we could add a co-Commish or someone else will step. After all we are doing this for fun, right? Welcome Asymptomics!
-
I second that. You're doing a great job Des Moines! You were putting up with quite a bit there and handled it well. Also, welcome to our new owner!

I think you have been doing a great job and I think things will be a lot calmer now with the other guy gone. Also welcome to the league new guy!

I'm sorry, but I can't keep up with this league. Everything is what it is. I am not going to intervene unless something egregious happens. If anyone else wants the commissioner role I will gladly give it up. Sorry to anyone feeling slighted by my lack of intervention.
-
I can see by the messages the guy who owned this team before me was a problem. I hope nobody holds it against me. I might not be a great fantasy baseball player, but I'll be easy to deal with.
-
I claimed the team that was available. This is my first 5x5 league but I have done other ottoneu leagues, with varying success (actually not much success but getting better).
-
I’m fine with that.

Or act as if Belichick's bids did not exist and award the player to the team with the next highest bid. This will probably be the best way to proceed.
-
I will fix this later today and put all of the just-auctioned players back in the pool
-
What is going on? Why is the Fragile guy able to go over budget? He has 45 players on his roster. I just lost out on 4 players because he out-bid by going over budget and over roster limits.

I’m gone baby, full refund! And in case ottoneu goes back on their word like our weak commissioner, I went forward with my plan of rebuilding for 2021 by clearing cap space by cutting two players I overpaid for. But I’m out of this sham league baby!
-
Looks like Caution:Fragile has now proved his mental instability and is actively harming the league by waiving his two star players. Time for a new owner.
-
It wasn't forgiven. Everybody knows that. This absolutely can't happen that he gets his player back, and obviously I will complain to the site administrator if you kick me out of the league with no refund. You have zero ground to stand on. I can complain all I want and contribute to the league being more just.
-
You're mistake was forgiven, and you make the league unpleasant for everyone else. We are not doing this all season. Next hissy and I will kick you out of the league. No refund. You should probably start complaining to the site administrator now.
-
Here we go
-
I already claimed him.
-
Doesn't matter. Honest mistakes aren't forgiven in this league, as mine was more costly and not forgiven.
-
Cut Bryan Abreu by mistake. I meant to cut Austin Pruitt. Honest mistake.
-
When you trade players, their salary remains the same (loan or no loan) for the current year. Salaries increase the following years by $1 (prospects with no service time) or $2 (everyone else) plus whatever you get assigned by allocation. Loans are used to transfer cap space from one team to another for this year only, and become void once season is over. Example: If you have $15 cap space and want to acquire “net” $20 player, you’ll need a $5 loan.
-
With a loan in a trade, the salaries of the players remain the same for the following year, correct? The loans don't affect the salary?
-
I vote for allocation
-
Not a big deal for me. I'll vote allocation if you need an answer, because that's the only one I've tried before. But doesn't really make a difference to me
-
I'm good with either
-
I vote Allocation and to start this (the first) off-season.
Flipping from one to the other, if we choose to change to Allocation, does not seem to make much sense as we have never used the Vote Off system.
-
i vote allocation
-
Personally, I am fine with either. Vote Off seems simpler, but it eliminates the choice of the owner to keep the player. However, each owner will always have the option to buy back the player at auction with $5 discount. This could make for interesting auction dynamics and gamesmanship...give everyone a chance to indulge any grudges...not that such things could ever exist in a league like this. :)
-
During the auction, competitive balance was discussed (see rules sect VII). We currently have Vote Off, which means each of us will lose 1 player at season’s end, which we can buy back at auction for $5 discount compared to everyone else. The alternative is Allocation which results in everyone getting between $11 and $33 added to their payroll (potentially distributed among several players) instead. If we are going to change, we could do so now and decide if we start this offseason or next.
-
I forgot about it and my calendar didn’t remind me of anything and fell asleep. I’ll just fill it from the free agent pool.
