I second that. You're doing a great job Des Moines! You were putting up with quite a bit there and handled it well. Also, welcome to our new owner!

I think you have been doing a great job and I think things will be a lot calmer now with the other guy gone. Also welcome to the league new guy!

I'm sorry, but I can't keep up with this league. Everything is what it is. I am not going to intervene unless something egregious happens. If anyone else wants the commissioner role I will gladly give it up. Sorry to anyone feeling slighted by my lack of intervention.
-
I can see by the messages the guy who owned this team before me was a problem. I hope nobody holds it against me. I might not be a great fantasy baseball player, but I'll be easy to deal with.
-
I claimed the team that was available. This is my first 5x5 league but I have done other ottoneu leagues, with varying success (actually not much success but getting better).
-
I’m fine with that.

Or act as if Belichick's bids did not exist and award the player to the team with the next highest bid. This will probably be the best way to proceed.
-
I will fix this later today and put all of the just-auctioned players back in the pool
-
What is going on? Why is the Fragile guy able to go over budget? He has 45 players on his roster. I just lost out on 4 players because he out-bid by going over budget and over roster limits.

I’m gone baby, full refund! And in case ottoneu goes back on their word like our weak commissioner, I went forward with my plan of rebuilding for 2021 by clearing cap space by cutting two players I overpaid for. But I’m out of this sham league baby!
-
Looks like Caution:Fragile has now proved his mental instability and is actively harming the league by waiving his two star players. Time for a new owner.
-
It wasn't forgiven. Everybody knows that. This absolutely can't happen that he gets his player back, and obviously I will complain to the site administrator if you kick me out of the league with no refund. You have zero ground to stand on. I can complain all I want and contribute to the league being more just.
-
You're mistake was forgiven, and you make the league unpleasant for everyone else. We are not doing this all season. Next hissy and I will kick you out of the league. No refund. You should probably start complaining to the site administrator now.
-
Here we go
-
I already claimed him.
-
Doesn't matter. Honest mistakes aren't forgiven in this league, as mine was more costly and not forgiven.
-
Cut Bryan Abreu by mistake. I meant to cut Austin Pruitt. Honest mistake.
-
When you trade players, their salary remains the same (loan or no loan) for the current year. Salaries increase the following years by $1 (prospects with no service time) or $2 (everyone else) plus whatever you get assigned by allocation. Loans are used to transfer cap space from one team to another for this year only, and become void once season is over. Example: If you have $15 cap space and want to acquire “net” $20 player, you’ll need a $5 loan.
-
With a loan in a trade, the salaries of the players remain the same for the following year, correct? The loans don't affect the salary?
-
I vote for allocation
-
Not a big deal for me. I'll vote allocation if you need an answer, because that's the only one I've tried before. But doesn't really make a difference to me
-
I'm good with either
-
I vote Allocation and to start this (the first) off-season.
Flipping from one to the other, if we choose to change to Allocation, does not seem to make much sense as we have never used the Vote Off system.
-
i vote allocation
-
Personally, I am fine with either. Vote Off seems simpler, but it eliminates the choice of the owner to keep the player. However, each owner will always have the option to buy back the player at auction with $5 discount. This could make for interesting auction dynamics and gamesmanship...give everyone a chance to indulge any grudges...not that such things could ever exist in a league like this. :)
-
During the auction, competitive balance was discussed (see rules sect VII). We currently have Vote Off, which means each of us will lose 1 player at season’s end, which we can buy back at auction for $5 discount compared to everyone else. The alternative is Allocation which results in everyone getting between $11 and $33 added to their payroll (potentially distributed among several players) instead. If we are going to change, we could do so now and decide if we start this offseason or next.
-
I forgot about it and my calendar didn’t remind me of anything and fell asleep. I’ll just fill it from the free agent pool.
-
This is a dumb question, where and how do i cut one of my players, I am not seeing it on roster or the player page? thanks

Don't forget, round 2 of the draft tonight at 9 pm EST!
-
Alright, dudes, I've heard no objections. So let's finish the draft Friday, May 8 at 9 PM Est.
-
That goes directly against what you already said and I spent the rest of my money because you said I was getting the $15 back at the end of the round. If there is anyone who you guys who will pay me the entry fee to the league to take over my team, please let me know and I will gladly leave.
-
J-Ram salary faster than would otherwise.
-
Here's what I'm thinking on the J. Ramirez matter: I get the buyer beware sentiment, but I also get the honest mistake. So I am planning to execute a penalty-free cut on J. Ramirez but only after the draft is completed in full. It penalizes the honest mistake only by tying up money in the draft when the best players, in theory, are available. Then, after the draft, it speeds up the process of winnowing the penalty to $1. Ultimately it removes the $1 penalty and frees up the money used on the

I could do rounds today and any day after that.

Don't worry about it, you could always try to trade some of those stars for depth if you wanted. On another note, are we set for next Friday or do people want to try to fit in another round before then?

Appreciate that. But the season will not go well for my despite my being very good at snake drafts and roster composition. I have like $2 players for 9 hitters and 5 relievers. I just totally suck at auctions, my god.
-
I want to clarify that I am fine taking Ramirez (AAA) for $10 (my initial and only bid). This would set the precedent that there is a price for mistakes (my mistake in this case). It did not and will not change my spending decisions. Moving forward, we all have 1 night of experience, so let all bidders beware. No more mulligans. That would be my vote, anyway. It is a good thing that the people in the league are competitive and serious about adhering to rules. Should be a great season.
-
The Ramirez decision was already made shortly after the deceptive move, and I made spending decisions based on the fact that I would get the $15 dollars back, so your opinions seem moot.
-
Hey folks, completely botched it and forgot about the draft day, I deleted my calendars from my phone and missed it, no excuses, when is the second round?
-
players recommend that you only spend $380 or so anyway. That leaves more money for in season acquisitions since good players and prospects pop up all the time. I am good with what commish decides, either way. There was not bad intent. I don’t disagree people should be penalized for mistakes, but the player search is not that easy to use if you search by a name (I won’t do that again) and it sucks to have to read fine print (easier to read on some devices than others) when pressed for time.
-
Regarding Ramirez...Ottoneu draft-day mistakes aren’t not that heavily penalized since you can drop them are recover 1/2 the price immediately, then 1/2 the remainder every 30 days (see rules). So if I took Ramirez for $10, I’d drop him after the auction and get $5 added to my cap, then drop again in 30 days to get $2 more, then again to $1. I could potentially turn it into a $1 mistake by the time the season starts. Of course, I’d have $10 less to spend at auction, but many experienced Ottoneu
-
That was obviously the case, but your bid was very quick after the nomination. I was still trying to process whether there was a Braves closer in waiting worth $10 when he jumped to $15 and then crickets. The player name, position, and team were all there on the screen. I knew it was a Braves pitcher before you placed your bid.
-
Yeah, except I genuinely thought I was bidding on the 3b Jose Ramirez.
-
Fun time today! Look forward to the next round. Also curious what the commish will ultimately decide regarding Jose Ramirez (RP-ATL). In thinking more about it, it seems perhaps the two parties should be penalized their bids - the nominating team for $10 and the up-bid for $5. It does not set a good precedent to completely undo avoidable mistakes in a dynasty format. If this were a free redraft league I would be more comfortable with no-harm no-foul. I am fine with any decision tho.
