Okay guys, everything is open again: Auctions, trades, cuts - but from here on out it all counts for the season. Tomorrow morning Detroit is on the clock for the Mi:B. We've done these enough now the process should be pretty straightforward. 8 hour pick window, kind of ignoring nights, NFL draft style, if you miss just get the pick in when you can.
-
I'd like to drop Ethan Hankins and Kody Hoese from my MiLB squad. Thx!
-
Fort Myers Fun N Gun will drop these players from MiLB roster:
Kyle Muller
Keoni Cavaco
-
Auction is at 8:00 PM ET tonight everyone, bring your A-game!
Also, still have a few full MiLB rosters. Please drop if you want to add
-
We'll drop Brenton Doyle and Alexander Mojica.
-
Thanks for explaining that. I'm going to drop Gabriel Arias and Luis Rodriguez
-
Yes that’s correct
-
To clarify, Any minor leaguers not on a 40 man roster who have not already accrued MLB service time are eligible, correct?
-
You are correct that all those players are Su eject to the auction, but there is another MiLB draft starting after the standard auction, without any restrictions this time. Any minor leaguers that aren’t on Ottoneu 40-man rosters are eligible for this one; dropping players is just opening up roster spots for that draft. The MiLB draft one last month was our equivalent of a first-year player draft, this is the real shebang.
-
I'm confused now, why would I drop a MiLB player now? Guys like Franco and Waters would still have to be subject to being bid on on Sunday and also during the season right?

I'm dropping the following prospects:
Peyton Burdick - OF - MIA
Ronny Henriquez - RHP - TEX

Thank you Luke. To confirm, if a player accrued any service time last season and was then cut, they cannot be added to a MiLB roster (even if they will spend their season in the minors), correct?
-
The crop of players that fall into that latter bucket are:
Wander Franco
Drew Waters
Josiah Gray
Brennan Davis
Alek Thomas
Jeter Downs
(there may be others)

*Excuse me 15 total roster spots to fill*
All players that have signed with an MLB organization are free to be auctioned, and those that are not rostered on the standard Ottoneu rosters and already owned on MiLB rosters are then eligible for the MiLB draft - including players that have been previously rostered on Ottoneu rosters and were then cut prior to accruing any service time.
-
The rules have been enacted. Josh has been given editing privileges in order to help me track this season. Please reach out on the message board or to one of us if you notice a player has been promoted and overlooked.
Now - please post which minor leaguers will be dropped from your roster prior to the auction on Sunday. Everyone will have 15 spots to fill following the auction draft, but remember restrictions on the MiLB roster based on MLB GP and IP take effect next offseason
-
8. The buffer period does NOT refresh each time a player is called-up to the majors. For example, If a player accrues his first PA/IP over a 5-day stint with the major league team and then sent down, the Ottoneu would only have 9 days remaining on their buffer period upon any subsequent call-ups that season.
-
I've added the following rules to the League Charter under the MiLB heading:
7. MiLB$0 players must be added to the owner's standard 40-man Ottoneu roster within 2 weeks after the MiLB$0 player incurs his first MLB PA (hitters) or IP (pitchers). Within this 2-week “buffer period”, the player can be kept on the MiLB roster. If the player is sent back to the minors within 2 weeks of their first PA/IP, the Ottoneu owner is not obligated to activate the player to their 40-man roster.
-
I'm in favor of the buffer compromise
-
To clarify, each team should keep track of their own MiLB callups and let me know if you are activating them.

I'd like to exercise the MiLB prospect clause that allows us to exchange one of our prospects if they've passed away or otherwise been in a plane / car / boat crash for another prospect that has yet to play an MLB game and is not currently on a roster. Please exchange Bayron Lora for Wander Franco.

Since I’m the one who brought this up in the first place, I’m happy to be part of the solution and keep track of this for you commish. I’ll set up a google sheets so that everyone can see status. I will need some help throughout the season in terms of who is calling up who though. ..

I don’t think there’s any MiLB functionality in Ottoneu. I imagine I’ll just add a tracker to the spreadsheet and rely on competitive vigilance from all the owners to make sure no one else is getting away with any service time manipulation. It can be a pain but it can also not, we’ll see. I could share some responsibility around too if anyone were interested
-
Our team is good for that buffer.
Is there a way to institute it in the game interface? Prospect call ups are hard enough let alone how long they stick.
As someone who’s commished multiple leagues before, I know how this horseshit can be taxing on the commish and that’s not what I/we/LDs want to do to you Luke.
-
Sorry, some of those got cut off. Question 4 responses looked like this:
4 No Buffer
3 1-week Buffer
2 2-week Buffer
2 1-month Buffer
I think because the majority of the league was in favor of a buffer, we can split the difference and try out a two-week period initially
-
If any of those seem way off-base I'm still open to discussion, but I think this matter needs to be finalized as soon as we can. Compromise is gonna have to do here unless we all want to take another poll. But let me know, sound off, etc. I think this is a pretty middle of the road solution.
-
But in order to appease the plurality of folks who believe it should be no or less, I think the buffer should be cumulative throughout the season. If a player accumulates 6 days of service before being sent down again, then there will only be 8 days of buffer time left when they are called up again. In order to preserve the rules of Ottoneu inflation, all players with even a single GP in the MLB will be required to be activated come season's end
-
So here's how I think this should shake out. Instead of going through the process of polling again, I think we will go with the following:
Instituting a buffer period upon major league call-up wherein the owner of said MiLB player is allowed to wait and see whether the MiLB player sticks in the bigs. If he is sent down within the buffer, the player can be held on the MiLB roster. If he eclipses 2 weeks of service time, he must be activated immediately or dropped to FA w/ a $1 cap pe

With 1 abstaining, all 11 votes have been cast. My questions seemed to be a little confusing but here are the results:
1) Reforms needed? 7 No, 4 Yes [I'm treating as "any major overhaul" based on subsequent responses]
2) Should players be activated immediately upon call-up? 6 Yes, 5 No [Wait...]
3) Should there be a buffer period? 7 Yes, 4 No [somewhat contradictory to the question before]
4) How long? 4 None, 3 1-week, 2 2-week,
-
I'd like to abstain.
-
This poll is just for the MiLB system. As far as I’m concerned the draft starts as noted (8 ET ) unless Cannonball and Josh consent to an earlier start time
-
I am available at any time this evening . Please send a note out as the official start time
-
We've got seven responses so far to the poll. Just 5 more to vote! Please try and get those in
