I think we've basically agreed not to veto trades unless they represent a clear desire on the part of one team not to compete (in any time frame, of course). For instance, a cheap Lucas Giolito for an expensive Brian McCann.

Nix that... there was just so many trades pending I didn't see it. Still getting used to the interface on here.
-
So uh... Did my Grandal and Yelich deal get nixed
-
Glad I was part of the pre-deadline flurry of trades. All this shuffling is surely going to reduce the talent available in the draft, much to my chagrine.

Strongly recommend using the lineup organizer to see where you are with everyone.
-
No need to lock them in. You'll keep whoever is not cut by the end of 1/31. You can make cuts whenever you want, but most generally wait until the last day so that no one has time to react to other cuts around the league.
-
Seeing the keeper deadline coming up on 1/31...how do you lock in the players you intend to keep? Trying to sort out my budget before I get busy and forget, leaving cheap productive core players exposed.

Nothing says if a setting of the auction draft is permanent, so I'm not going to change the league settings yet, but pretend it says the draft is February 29, 9:00 PM Eastern. Now everyone can speak or hold their peace.

I've got his email. I'll shoot him a message and see what's up. He's one of the new owners.

I sent a message. His email's not public, so not sure what else to do.

Anybody heard anything from Spicy Meatball? Are we sure they're in? Needs to cut money and put some interesting names on the block at Thanksgiving and hasn't been back on since...
-
Maybe we should make the salary cap $401.

Feb 28 - Mar 1 is the latest weekend left with no conflicts. Leap day draft anyone?

Been absolutely inundated with work, but I'm pretty flexible with some notice. Weekend of March 21st I know I'm gone, probably covering some of the ACC Tournament for my side gig, and I'm projecting a pretty busy mid-February. Anytime after pitchers and catchers report is fair game.

I'm thinking late March would be better than early March. Should give us some time for guys to grab spots in ST and figure out the injury thing a little bit better.
-
Oh jesus christ I'm an idiot. Long day at work yesterday...
-
No need to worry about late with me, 9 EST is 6 PST.
-
Sounds to me like late some evening Feb 28-Mar 1 or Mar 20-22.

WOBA, exactly how late might you be willing to stay up if it's on a Saturday?......
-
I honestly have no idea what my schedule will be like pretty much ever, so don't worry about me too much. My preference would be late (post 9 PM ET) on preferably a weekend, but I also know that that's the exact opposite of what my preference would have been a year ago, so eh
-
I'll make time for it pretty much whenever, though later in the day is better for me regardless.
-
So far I have no plans in February or March. I agree with WOBA that I would prefer closer to the season as possible. The more I know about what teams everyone is on, and who made the cuts the better.
-
I won't be available from March 5-18 unfortunately. Any other time and I'll make it work
-
I'm not available Feb 21-23 or March 13 but should be able to make anything else work as far as evenings go. Even on weekends my preference would be 7:30PM EST or later as I have a young child that demands attention, particularly if I happen to have a phone, computer, or remote nearby. Anything earlier than that and I refuse to take full responsibility for my actions or lack thereof in the draft, but I can likely make it work if it's best for the league.
-
I personally prefer March to February, but not a huge deal either way. I’d rather have as close to full information on injury recoveries, free agent destinations, trades, etc before the draft as possible. Weekends are usually better for me, I’m on PST so finding a time that works for me and everyone on EST can be hard during the work week.
-
Cool. I'll just go ahead and add you as a commissioner. I'm still happy to handle the bulk of it, just always good to have a backup plan in place just in case I'm not around.
-
Well I'm no longer active on TC, so finding replacements might be tough, but I'm up for filling in when needed.

There's really not a whole lot involved. Setting dates is really the main hassle. Once you get into the season, there's not a whole lot that needs to be done. If someone accidentally cuts one player instead of the one they intended, you can add them back to the team. If there's an uproar on a certain transaction, you can change whatever needs to be changed. Most of the more time consuming stuff is during the offseason, ie. replacing owners, setting dates, prodding the inactives, etc.
-
If you'll make it clear what I'm allowed to/supposed to do, I'd be happy to help. I certainly spend enough time on here and I'm committed as long as others are. After all, my strategy ended up being longer-term even if it didn't start that way.

Also, now that most of you have a season under your belts, anyone want to join me as a co-commissioner? Just makes it easier in case I'm not immediately available.
-
I for one would prefer February to March, and have most Friday-night-to-Sunday weekends available.

Yeah, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to try and get that ball rolling. I generally like to shoot for early to mid March for a draft. And yes, it should just be a one day thing this time, I'm guessing somewhere around 1-3 hours depending on how cuts go. Are weekdays or weekends generally preferable?
-
Should we start working to set a draft day? I know this became a big deal last time, so I would think having time to plan it in advance would be good. It can be as early as four weeks from now according to the calendar. I don't know if we need a second date as well given that it will involve fewer players, but we certainly need to make it clear that several hours need to be set aside.

And then it turns out one of the new players is Alex Anthopolous and he accidentally bought a million relievers in real life instead of Ottoneu.

There's also this person looking for feedback from first year players for Rotographs use. Not sure if he's still looking for guinea pigs. https://community.ottoneu.com/t/year-one-ottoneu-owner-interviews-rotographs/6239
-
Also for the new guys (and any of the existing owners), the community page has a lot of pretty helpful tools across the board. Not sure if anyone here has made much use of it. https://community.ottoneu.com/
-
And I still don't think I could make myself go that far.
-
I don't blame you. There was one dude in the Ottoneu community that was basically the Bill James of Ottoneu relievers. He was saying that paying $30+ for top relievers was actually a really GOOD idea, and everyone thought he was crazy until it worked.
-
Sorry, I see sentences with relievers and my brain-imagery just goes into tumbleweed rolling across the desert
-
I tried to tell you guys that relievers were oddly important!!!
-
To be fair, I've graduated from "complaining" to "my estimation of this format has decreased a lot because it is impossible for me to care about relievers and how they affected results."
-
Welcome. If you want endless complaining about relievers' value, you've come to the right league. On that note, don't ignore relievers. You'll regret it. And then complain.

Alright guys, we are back to a full league. We should all welcome our new members by reminding them that it's time for them to trade all their best players to in exchange for World Series Hero David Freese.
-
I am shopping the following players if anyone has interest: Lindor, Donaldson, Turner, Sale, Hoskins. Also willing to take offers on Buehler.
-
Also I assume a lot of other leagues that started before last year had a much cheaper Acuna floating around, assuming he'd been rostered before his call up. I imagine he'd go for $50+ in most new leagues.
-
Funny that Acuna got hit so hard in virtually every other league, but only got $1 here because he was already super pricey because we're all Braves fans.
-
Nice! Those things are always fun. They used to do monthly Ottoneu league/team rankings. I think it was 2017, my other league was the highest scoring/hardest league in the whole format. And I finished 4th. Basically my claim to fame these days.
-
In case you wanted to compare our league to the rest of the Ottoneu leagues: https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/2019-ottoneu-arbitration-results-top-25-players/

I'm open for business as well. I will let you know quickly if someone is available or not.
