2/28 at the same time works as well for me as 2/29 I believe.

Same. I'd rather hear from those who need it moved from the current time and find out what time works. If the current time works for 10 of 12 people, I don't want to create a time that then works for fewer people.
-
My silence is more just a lack of preference that would derail anything. I have a slight preference for like 9ish PM or later whenever it occurs but generally I'll just figure it out or make do.
-
I think I'm good whenever, so let's just give it the day to see who can do what. We can send out some emails later today/tomorrow to get a good idea if we need.
-
Yeah, sorry about that-- I mentioned that that may not work a while back but it most definitely won't-- unless y'all want my drunk ass at a wedding reception bidding $40 on the Pirates' 3rd middle reliever. I could definitely roll that Friday, or Sunday (once I get back home), or really any weeknight in the week prior or after.

Sounds like Saturday is generally not ideal for Bartolo with all of that travel. I think most had leap weekend mostly clear, would Friday 2/28 at 9pm EST work for everyone?
-
Super cannot make it for most of that day...gotta drive to Greenville NC from Charlotte (about 4.5 hours) or can swing by the parents house in Pinehurst (about 2.5 hour drive) to be there at 4. So I'd need to start by noon at the latest, and even that is going to be tricky.

How many can't make it for the current set time of 9 PM on 2/29?
-
I'm free that entire weekend...for now. I would just ask we get it set in stone soon. The wife has been trying hard to schedule something that weekend, and so far I have been able to prevent it. I won't be able to resist the dark arts for too much longer.
-
Yeah, because most people (including me) don't have much money to spend. So I'll probably be done in like 30 minutes, honestly. And once the guys like that are out of the way, there are fewer bids and it moves pretty quickly.
-
I'd rather do Friday night 2/28 than 3/1, I'm at work at 6am on Monday. I know there were a couple of other evening preferences, and evening is easier for me, but I could probably make 1pm EST or something like that work on 2/29. I have other obligations that morning. Looks like we have 150ish players to draft, is that realistic in an hour or two?
-
What if we did something early-ish on Leap Day? Like noon or something. This one should really only take an hour or two, if that.
-
posited this question a few weeks ago, but can we discuss the 'official' draft time? I've got a wedding on Leap Day because of course I do. could do the night after with no issues.

Yeah, agreed. Or at least be able to schedule your cuts and set a time. The roster organizer gives you a visual idea of that, but there's nothing there to follow through on it outside of the user's own input.
-
I can't hate you for doing what I predicted you would do (cutting Harper and Betts). But this is why I said the league should be set up differently. In order to get an information advantage, people have to put themselves in a bind of showing up on a day they didn't choose. There should be a hidden-information week of cuts.

Thanks guys, sorry about the late cuts. Don't hate me

I literally thought you were joking until I saw the transactions were actually done. Lots of surprising cuts.

Ronald McDonaldson had something come up and he wasn't able to get his cuts in before the deadline, so he sent me his list of players, and I'll be making the cuts for him. Mookie Betts, Bryce Harper, Chris Taylor, Andrew Miller, and Luke "Sliderman" Jackson will be added to the FA pool. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
-
This will be my first draft. Will be interesting to see how I screw it up lol.
-
To my knowledge, the roster organizer does work throughout the draft, and players are added to those pages as soon as their bidding closes, so essentially real time. I've always found it more helpful to build my own list outside of ottoneu, but that's just preference. After about 3 minutes, my list/plan seems to go out the window anyways.
-
So it appears as if we can build our watchlist within the draft module ahead of time. Does the roster organizer remain available through the draft so that we can load in targets with values there? Or do we need to build our lists outside of ottoneu?
-
As the person who traded Vladito, my bullpen was a weakness last year and I needed a little more depth in the OF. Plus already had Rendon, and neither guy was giving me any positional versatility. I thought I did well for a salary dump.

Yeah, Vladito is a bit expensive in this league. He's owned here for $35, but his average across the format is about $21. Maybe he's a bargain at $40+ in 2 years, but for teams trying to compete this year, $35 is a lot to pay for someone who probably isn't quite worth that yet.
-
Yeah, I guess I wasn't taking his price tag into account. If he lives up to his hype he will be a steal, but the worries about his ground-ball issues (and weight) could certainly stick around and derail the start to his career.
-
I got Kris Bryant, a proven player, for TLS and a setup man. It's all about the benjamins.

Probably by $26 extra as a result of the trade. Vlad hasn't proven himself yet. He has a pretty great projection, but giving up moderate talent and $26 seems like a significant bet on that rather variable projection.

I just wanna know how someone got Vladdy Jr. for Hunter Rengro and a 31 year old set up man, haha

They can still process after the deadline. As long as they're in before the deadline you're good. Unless you're trading for someone you would cut...
-
So, is today like a de facto trade deadline? Trades have a 48 hour wait and the keeper deadline is Friday. Or can trades still process after the keeper deadline, just not be initiated after the keeper deadline?
-
It'll probably be me. I tend to have free time at work late morning/early afternoon, so if I don't do it by then, there's a solid chance I forget entirely.
-
I'm getting out there before the Friday night booze itch hits and I completely forget, but I'm hoping to have some context before then.

Who do we think is gonna be the first to break and make cuts on Friday?

Now seeing that that's a Saturday-- that likely presents more problems for me than most, but would be anyone be more inclined to do it on Sunday 3/1?

Thanks KMDS! On the calendar. With reference to the cuts, I'm enjoying the fog of war mentality and am ready to take a good long look at the waiver wire on Friday.

Draft set leap day 9 Eastern. It can indeed be changed if there is a need.

To be clear, what I was saying was silly was the incentives provided by the way the league is set up, not how people are reacting to them. In this system of open information and a single deadline, the way people are reacting by waiting to make cuts is rational.
Murphy’s Slow on

And KMDS, there is a roster organizer page which allows you to keep track of who you'd like to cut/target/etc. Maybe it's silly to wait until the deadline, but I think it does make some kind of non-zero difference in planning for the rest of the league. Plus there's then a whole month between cuts and draft, so there's plenty of time, really.
-
JD, you are correct. If you forget to make cuts, then you will probably have an invalid roster, and won't be able to accrue points until it's valid. And cuts will be subject to regular season cut rules.
-

Well it's against the rules, so just don't do it. It'll give us commissioners a mess to fix.

My understanding is that the cuts then revert to regular season mode and only give 50% salary relief. Their roster would be invalid until it is brought beneath the cap, much like if you end up over 40 man during the season with no stats accumulated until it is corrected. Not 100% sure that is correct though.
-
What happens if they are not cut by the deadline? Are they still kept and the team is over payroll? Would cuts at that point be like in the regular season where you only get 50% $ relief? Will the system auto cut?
-
6 days out, 5 people in the red on payroll are still in a standoff. Kind of silly to me.

Not that it's the most important thing to fix, but I feel like the deadline situation should be changed so that people don't have to do their cuts on the last day to hide them from the other owners. It does need to be hidden so the other owners can't react, but I think there should be a week or so where all information is hidden and trades are prohibited so people have time to cut.

Kluber as well forgot about him.

Looking to ship Stanton, Carpenter, and Correa if anyone is looking to take on some salary.

I’m taking offers on Lindor, so let me know if you’re interested.

Just found out that everyone's trade proposals were going to my spam folder in email, but I'm still here. Now that I have that straightened out, I am open to (good) trade ideas.
-
The item of interest to our league in the 2020 gameplay changes is that there will be an option you can select each day to automatically remove position players from your lineup if they're not in the starting lineup. No more 1-PA games if you don't want them.

Yeah, I tend to take pretty lenient views with trades and almost never veto anything. I'll really only veto something if there's some clear sign of collusion or general shadiness, but I don't know that I've ever come across something like that.
