No traction on the post on TC the other day. Bartolo, any luck with your buddy? If not, I'll just mark the team abandoned and post it on ottoneu's open team list for a rando to take it over.
-
I'm posting something on the Daily Chop thread today, we'll see if we get any interest.
-
Just texted my buddy who spent the entire playoffs side texting me as we rolled our collective eyes at the very "Snitker sucks, Freddie sucks" (ignoring hard contact while he was 1/12 early in the postseason) vibe in our Braves fan group text. If he determines he has time, he'll be all about it.

Any movement on getting a new player?

I'm just happy that Spicy didn't play because it made sure I didn't finish last. Top 3 in P/G for the second year in a row though. Woo.
-
Though would obviously prefer that it's someone on TC since that's where everyone else kind of originates from.
-
Yeah for sure. There are a lot of people with somewhat specific interest in "rebuilding" ottoneu teams, so if we can't find a taker on TC somewhere, then we can just post the vacant team on ottoneu and someone will probably pick it up.
-
Sounds good. Spicy Meatball has some decent players, and a good bit of cap space, but that team has some work to do too. Whoever takes it over needs to understand the team is technically 2 years behind everyone else. I don't even think they took part in this year's draft.
-
Generally you'd find a new owner to come in and decide who they want to keep or cut. It would be pretty disastrous for them to have 40 spots to fill, which would basically screw everyone else in the auction as well. We'll probably need to try and find someone by mid-October so we can have them go through arb in their preferred manner.
-
On a side note, what is our plan with Spicy Meatball's team? If I remember correctly, that team seems cursed as they were a replacement for another player who didn't participate last year? Do we try to recruit again, or are we releasing all their players into the wild after arbitration is over?
-
Needed every bit of those 9 points I got from those rando SP I picked up for Sunday. Got kind of lucky I didn't go over 560 IP on Saturday.
-
Wow, that was an interesting finish! Congrats DUF.
-
Still can't believe with the acquisitions of Trout, Stanton, Bryant, Pham, and Marte that my offense got worse than last year. On the other hand, I have some real gems for starting pitchers. There's no reason I can't compete with my roster next year given the finances. Congrats to the winners and hopefully I'll see you all next season.

Another good season all! Finished 4th last year, and with all my moves and changes, I managed to finish.....4th again! I'm coming for the podium next year.
-
Congrats on the win, Barves! Close indeed. Bartolo's Colon and the 11 pitchers who spent time on the IL will be back next year to get back on the podium.

Holy cow that was close.
-
Ugh, I need all of DUFs pitchers to give up all the dingerz today. Nice piece of roster management, I should have prevented it with some big bids.
-
I would be sympathetic, but...for the entire season, my pitchers who are in the game (obviously selected to be my best guys each time) have given up more homers per 9 than the pitchers on my bench. In other words, what just happened to you has happened to me all season. :( The only good news is I can try again with the same group of pitchers next season and hope they don't decide to only give up homers when they count.

In case anybody was wondering, having your pitchers give up 6 HR on the last Friday of the season while trying to make up ground on the leader is a less than ideal situation.
-
Finally made it to first place! I doubt it sticks, but one day in first is better than zero days.
-
Lol I'm not even starting him right now. I just picked him up in case he was good next year.
-
Of course Wright takes off the second I drop him.
-
I'm going to need my team to realize we're in a pennant race here too. Another 60-80 points from deGrom/Bundy last night (rather than 2-3 IP outings) and any amount of contribution from the offense could've made things interesting around here.
-
Did not properly account for games played in this shortened season. Figure getting 1.69 points per game out of C for the year means at least I can't LOSE points there the rest of the way...

Would be extra cool if my team scored more than 24 points on a full slate Saturday.
-
Well there goes that lead.
-
I managed to forget to start Acuna and Riley (60 points), but I remembered to start Tanner Rainey! (-5 points, just gave up the slam to Freddie). Nailed it.
-
Big day for me! Due to Charlie Morton coming off the IL, today is the first day in a month that I've had more pitchers that could theoretically pitch in a day in my lineup than on the IL. This season is trash.

My offense sucked last year, so this last off-season I acquired:
Mike Trout, Giancarlo Stanton, Kris Bryant, Tommy Pham, and Corey Seager. This year, my offense...sucks even worse. Thanks 2020.

Knew I should've made the waiver claim on Carrasco....
-
You were $3 short. It always shows up as $1 in the results because it never makes someone spend more than they have to. A $30 bid gets reduced to $28 if the next highest bid was $27.

Damn it, I bid $27 for Bryant. Always $1 short!
-
I didn't have an issue with it, appeared to be short-term (this season) for longer-term assets. When did Charlie Blackmon auction for $40?!?

So at least from my POV, yes, Stras for Wheeler is probably the biggest value for me short term, but long term, all the other pieces are probably better. I made the trade basically accepting that Blackmon gets cut at the end of the year.
-
Wheeler hasn't been all that great, and is a guy that most of MLB seems to think will be injured all the time anyways. Long term, I'd much rather have Strasburg for twice the cost. And then Hicks has a much better path to lots of saves for cheap than Neris, and then basically you're just looking at cost differences between Mancini and Blackmon. Yes, Blackmon is better, but he costs $32 more, is 6 years older, and doesn't have 1B eligibility.
-
I’m the team most obviously chasing DUF and I have no problem with the deal. Honestly, getting Bregman off his team is a win for me long-term lol.
-
You conspicuously left out the cheap Wheeler in the bargain. Again, I think DUF lost value in the trade in exchange for winning this year, but I think it should have had to be much more.

I would agree with you more in a full length season but in a season where poor player performance over 5 starts/10 day IL stints can decide a full season I'm generally okay with hoarding assets for a more... real season.
I say this as someone's whose season is probably over due to pitching injuries/underperformance, though.
-
For anything this does for me this year, it's probably going to completely screw me over in coming seasons while setting PGTFL up pretty well next year and beyond as those guys are all pretty obvious keepers. All the guys I traded away are better long term than what I got back. Bregman/Machado is close in 2020 but Bregman is almost unquestionably better long term.
-
I get it. It's not a bad decision for you. It's just the kind of good deal that isn't nearly good enough for real life teams, in my opinion. Real life teams hold each other over a barrel when almost guaranteed victory is on the line.

I tend to agree. there is no cost baked into the fact that there are zero players going in one direction that will actually contribute this year with Bregman out the next three weeks. For me this pushes my view completely to next season as the first place team just unloaded all of their zero impact players for high end replacements. Blackmon is a top 10 OF, Machado has outperformed Bregman and is healthy, Stras, Hicks and Mancini are zeroes this year. None are exceptionally cheap.
-
From my perspective I'm building for next year and feel the players I got will have more value next year. I definitely am not trying to hand a win to anyone. I've had most of those guys on the block for the last few weeks and that was the first offer I got.
-
In good faith, I approved that trade, but I hate it. I in no way think it's intentional throwing, but it hands the season win to one team. I say this as someone who ended up having no chance anyway due to homer randomness and injuries.

If anyone is already looking forward to next year, I'm looking to move $30 Strasburg for something that can help me this year. Looking for pitching, mainly, but open to ideas. Stras should still be a pretty good bargain next season and beyond.
-
Lol and he gives up another homer after I post that.
-
Well I was hoping to get some kind of a bounce back when I claimed Minor, but I see he's just ded lol.
