Hey guys - confirmation from Niv we can set the 4th place spot however we like. Vote starts now - keep as is with standings, or set based on points. Need to see at least 8/10 teams vote.

I think the 4th spot should be total points because of how unbalanced the schedules. That's my vote

I will check with Niv if deciding by points is possible, but also think there will be more than enough games by each team to determine 4th spot as usual, by overall record. Really not much different than having a league with bye weeks. Have no problem making special case rule for this season if the majority is for it and Niv can technically accomplish it though.

Kahn- I'm not sure there were existing rules to cover a situation such as ours, so i don't see this as an in-season change. I think record for div winner makes sense. And I support total points for wild card bc you can't use record In my opinion

I don't think you want to modify the playoff rules for this year in season do you? If you want to modify future seasons, I am probably out after this year, so I probably should not vote.

Have we decided for sure how the fourth playoff spot is determined? I think this is important to know for sure as it dertermines who are buyers and who are sellers. Overall, I get total points can't be the only factor but I don't think records are fair when you could have a great week when you would beat most people against a team where the win doesn't count

I understand that. Just wasn't sure if it was fair either to punish a team that had really good weeks that just happen to be when they matched up with one of the teams whose record doesn't count.

Record still needs to come into play - can't have a 2-11 team get in over an 11-2 team because they scored more points.

Is the playoffs being determined only on total points? Or is it each division is determined by record and then the last team in playoffs based on total points?

No - at this point we'll allow him to rebuild while not counting him in standings, just because he still would need to build out a roster he can set a lineup with.

Yeah I have some concerns about how all this will work, we need to figure this out now so there are no surprises in a couple months. One option would be to just base everything off total points, so there is no conflict between teams that played the dead teams more than others.

How will that affect the playoffs at the end of the year? Isnt' the schedule imbalanced to where some people will play those teams twice while others will only play them once? I know that we have division winners but will the fourth team be the one with the best winning percentage since our total records will likely differ?

Everyone - Niv has confirmed he can re-adjust the standings at end of season to remove all games against the empty teams. This offseason we'll decide how to proceed after this year. We were really screwed by the guys who claimed the teams and said they wanted them then didn't do anything with them or tell me they wouldn't be playing.

I sincerely hope I didn't upset anyone, especially our commissioners. I've been a commish for the same league for over ten years and at times, it's a thankless job. My apologies if I did.
I think we have a good group here and can get back to where we have a core group. I think what has been proposed is a fair way to go. I hope we can continue this league next season.
