No negotiations. It was a matter of me "sleeping on it". this was one of the most fair offers i have ever been given (in any league).
-
a trade before 8 AM. i like it! these negotiations must of gone deep into the night. What dedication before the trade deadline to make that 161 game push!!

TIME TO FLEX!

That's right...rule V.e. You get the cap back at the end of the season or when another player claims the player dropped. Another strategy if no one picks the player up is to re-auction him after 30 days...min bid is his cap...say $5 and if you get him then re-cut him to get back another half the salary. Over course of season you may be able to drop cap hit a lot if no one else will pick up the player. Seems like a loophole but it is legit strategy in Ottoneu.
-
So I think I know this question but if you drop someone at $10 bucks. you get $5 back. The $5 cap hit, you would only lose for the season and get back at year end correct?

u can see our free agents historical data but not projections
-
man i wish ottoneu showed 2018 projections (like steamer or depth charts) based on our free agents
-
Haha ok, thanks. Looks like that lesson will cost us a dollar.
-
Although I kinda hope I'm wrong if anyone has found a way to delete those auction bids. ; )
-
I had the same question but I think it's a feature not a glitch. Upon further review it seems that it is designed from preventing a player from being tied up in an auction by an owner. It is designed to force us to think hard about listing a player because we will be forced to bid at least a $1 and if we drop the player later there is a good chance we get stuck with a $1 cap hit for the season (unless someone else picks the player up).
-
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone figured out how to cancel a waiver auction bid. I see where it says to "edit" you bid to zero but I tried that and nothing appeared to change. Looking forward to opening day tomorrow!
-
Since the draft we have had lots of trade talk (and a few trades) and a lot of waiver wire action. Which is all great to see. A reminder on trades, there is a league approval process where every owner has the opportunity to approve or disapprove of a trade. I encourage you to be a part of the process and to remember that trades will look different in a salary dynasty league. To vote you click on an agreed upon trade and below the trade details will be a voting box.

Big thumbs up for last night! I hope each of you had as much fun as I did. I think we learned a lot about drafting in this format and I thought the league chatter was great. Now it's time to look at our rosters, stare at players we have no idea why we drafted, and get ready for opening day. Fifteen beautiful games to be played this Thursday!

I think they let you roster two for platooning but only a max of 162 games for both C.
-
Did we also ever figure out why the lineups has 2 Catchers there? Should we all just slot 1 ?
-
Remember you have to go to lineups and insert your lineups before the season. just click and drag who you want from your bench.

There is a period after the arbitration but before the keeper deadline that allows for owners to wheel and deal based on the results of the arbitration. It's down the road a way but sounds like it will keep the off-season interesting.

The way I read it...each of us allocate the $25 to specific players. For ex: I pick player XXX on Team 1 for $1, player YYY on Team 2 for $2, player ZZZ on Team 2 for $1 ($1 for team 1, $3 for team 2 - max) and so on. Those allocations only go to those specific players. Worst case for any one player...11 other owners each allocate $3 to one player on your team, that 1 player salary goes up: $2 (the auto for all MLB players) + $33 for next season = $35 and the owner has to decide to keep or drop

This is a question: So for instance, I get allocated $25. This would reduce my overall cap next year to $375? Or does it have to be attached to one player, which makes them essentially un-keepable? Or Is it saying all my players have to increase their cost by $25? Which wouldnt make sense, but thats kind of how this line reads "At the end of the process, player salaries are adjusted upwards by the amount of the arbitration award."

It's a year end process to help ensure competitive balance in a keeper league like this one. Each 'owner' is given $25 to 'allocate' to players on other teams. Every other team must get a least a $1 of allocation but no more than $3 from each other team. At the end of the process, player salaries are adjusted upwards by the amount of the arbitration award. It's a way of forcing some good players back into the auction each year if owners can't afford them. Check the 'off-season rules' for details

never mind...i just re-read it and now i remember

What does "allocations" mean...i'm not familiar with that term?

Thx for the catch Storm. I've changed the settings over to allocation.

The league seems to be set of 'vote-off' right now. Agreed that allocation seems like a better choice. I think the settings can just be changed in the league settings by the Commish.
-
Casey, I think you are asking about allocations vs. vote off. It does look like we get to choose between the two, but I am not 100% on this. If so, then I plan to set it us up for allocations. Seems fairer, more interesting, and less complicated to me.

In the rules, there is the section on arbitration options. Is this something we plan on doing? There are two options, neither of which I love, but mainly I just want to know what the plan was so I could kind of add it into my draft strategy.

Reminder, our draft is tomorrow at 6p CT (7p ET). Take a nap before hand and carb up for the event! Seriously though, you might want to have your drinks and snacks ready to go prior to the draft. Also, be ready for a fast pace - that is how the auctions work. Knowing it will be a first time for all of us I want to make sure you have my mobile number. It's 501 351 7455, feel free to text or call if needed during the draft. Use the auction chat first, but if needed you now have my number.

In answer to TryNotToSuck's question: we are Old School 5x5 Roto, which SHOULD mean 1 to 12 points per category based upon where you are in the rankings. If you are last in a category, then 1 point. If you are first in a category, then 12 points. Ten total categories, five pitching and five hitting. Wins/ERA/WHIP/K's/Saves and BA/Runs/HR's/RBI's/SB's. If it turns out to be different, well, we will all be adjusting together.

So just on clarification. How will stats be counted?...by these points that they have listed such as pitcher 1 has 1300 points or is it going to be a 5X5 all season Roto that receives in this case 12 points per stat based on your teams statistics together?
