Reminders! Teams that need to renew by 1/31 = Lucien. Due to the lockout, Niv moved the keeper deadline to 2/15 instead of 1/31. All cuts currently need to be made before 2/15 at 11:59 EST. All players remaining on your team will be kept.
-
I remain hopeful -- hoping they can get it done!
-
Not looking good for baseball this year. I guess my garden will get more attention. My wife will be thrilled. What do you guys think? When will we see the first pitch?
-
Owners that need to pay league dues and renew their teams by 1/31: Lake City, Luck of Lucien, KC Bones, Bluegrass, Indian Rocks Beach. Looking forward to another fun season!
-
Welcome BigP! Glad to have you. @PBP - I think Ottoneu must have defaulted to that. No draft date was been selected and I'm guessing we'll likely do a slow draft again. I'll send out a poll in then next few weeks regarding availability for a live action and we can go from there.
-
Welcome Big Papi. I see we have a date for the draft. Are we planning on a slow draft again? Or do I need to block out some evenings to sit in front of the computer?
-
Cataline, we appreciate the heads up. I’ll abandon your team right now.
-
Commish, could you mark me as abandoned? I just didn't have the time to devote too those last season, and I'm not seeing it improving this summer.

Agreed. Better not be a 1994 situation.

All I want for Christmas is an end to this lockout. Hope you guys all have a good holiday season. Look forward to harassing every one of you in 2022.

Why trade for him when we can vote him off instead? :) The following teams will need to renew their teams by 12/31 - preferably sooner rather than later: Me, Capitol, Gar-Ber, Cataline, Lucien, OnBase, KC, Bluegrass, and Rocks Beach.
-
The guy that sat on my trade block with absolutely no offers was the one voted off. Cool, I guess.

Its like Christmas morning, and in the words of Eric Cartman "I hate you guys, I hate you guys, so much".
-
@KC and @Rocks Beach -- tomorrow is the last day for Arb voting.
-
Just kidding, two weeks to vote
-
Two weeks to allocate your allocation allocators!
-
I agree with you Permian but we can try to keep the peace as often as we can!
-
I just took a beating on Slack. I think the 100% consensus was "Veto Bad". Seriously, no one agreed with me. I am not here to hurt anyone's feelings or cause discontent. I am in for the long haul and do not want to make anyone's fantasy baseball experience unpleasant. I just had a different view of things and apparently that view was not based in reality.
-
Bluntly, it's a stupid argument. Every trade made not involving you should be disadvantaging your team in relation to the teams moving to improve theirs.

I don't understand any argument against vetoing. We are all happy to use arbitration to vote someone off someone else's team. No problem bidding up a player so an other team cant get him too cheap. We use every legal tool at our disposal to try and win this game, but for some reason hitting the veto button is out of bounds? Why? Are you guys tired of me blathering on yet? OK, climbing off the soapbox now.
-
I understand both of your arguments. This year we had one trade that proceeded to go to a lengthy debate and not all of us have time to check daily, albeit most of us do. I don't think adding 24 hours to review time is a bad thing. Will it result in more vetos? I hope not, because I also trust everyone at this point to make deals in their best interests and I have yet to veto a trade in this league. But discussions are sometimes worth having.
-
and that should be their, not there.
-
I trust the group to act in there own best interest as well. But there best interest may be in complete opposition to my best interest. This is a game and if I perceive someone else's trade will disadvantage me then I am going to veto it. In my perfect fantasy world, I would like everyone else to see things my way and veto it as well. It's not a moral failing to play within the rules and act in your own best interest. Its part of the game. It's not policing, its strategy.
-
I guess we'll disagree. I trust the group to act in their own best interest with trades and don't feel like I need time to police every one else's team.

We can agree to disagree, but I think a trade can slip through and get missed in 24 hours. Especially before the season starts. Less likely in 48.
-
1) Trades aren't auctions, so why would they be the same length?
2) Why do we need "more time to hit the veto button"? 24 hours is enough, while letting people get the players they traded for in an expeditious manner.

Auction takes 48 hours, why shouldn't a trade approval?

More time to hit the veto button.

What does it help?

Why are we lengthening the trade window? Seriously, what does that accomplish?

Here is what I think we should do, so please let me know of any complaints: 1) 48 hour trade window 2) normal arbitration system this off-season (1 player voted off per team) -- we can vote now on vote-off vs. allocation starting in the 2022-2023 offseason, but I don't think it's a good idea to change this year based on how we have built our teams, 3) no divisions.
I am not aware of anyone wishing to leave the league. If you are, I'd ask that you communicate that now and not vote i

Zod is Back. I vote for the two week playoff. I dont know what a 48 vrs 24 hr trade approval makes any difference. I dont think a trade has been voted down. This is the third year and everyone here I trust to make trades that help their team. Arb is two days away. I am open to ideas on division or one division and allocations. Just dont know if we have time to change the arb system. I also like the slow draft. Have a good offseason everyone.

Is everyone sticking around for next year? Informally it appears as if people are up for getting rid of divisions, keeping vote off arbitration. Not sure about lengthening trade approval time from 24 to 48 hours? I see one person against it, I am for it. What is the advantage of shortening the playoffs? I thought two weeks was fine, but I am not married to that a compelling argument could make me change my mind. I wish I had been in the two week playoffs, but that is another matter.
-
I vote no divisions. I’m fine with the two matchup weeks. Keep vote off system bc a change would be too disruptive to currently implemented strategies.
-
I also would like to put shortening the championship from 2 weeks to 1 up for discussion post season.

My thoughts and votes. 1.No feelings either way on trade vote time. 2. I really want to keep the vote off and avoid a draft like the plague. It defeats all purpose of trading later and in my experience creates significant issues when trades happen. It also defeats any purpose of value on players and what we aim to build year after year. I go so far to only have 1 dollar increases on MLB and 0 increase on players that do not play in the majors. 3. No divisions and top 2 have bye week in playoffs.

Congrats Conspiracy, I wish you had beaten me by 200 instead of 2!
-
Agree on having no divisions. I really did not like the league I was in that had the arb system. It does not create a deep enough player pool for the auction. Teams will drop more players with the vote off system so they can go into the auction with enough cash to go after those premium players that were voted off. I love having multiple match-up in a weekly h2h format. The one thing I would definitely vote to change would be to extend the short week after the all star game

Sure we can vote on all of those. I don't think there is currently any reason for the divisions. I'm pretty sure the schedule automated by Ottoneu is as balanced as it can be, so the only current purpose to the divisions was awarding the division winners with byes, which to your point may not be appropriate. For the vote off vs. allocation, I'm happy to put that to a vote as well, but to CC's point, I don't think we can enact that change this offseason but could next year. But again we can vote.
-
Those are three no's from me. Arb vs vote off definitely affects roster construction.

Love you too PB Bop! I agree on number 2 - updating allocation system. I’m fine to vote on all 3.

First off I want to say I hate all of you guys. Second, I intend to be back next year as long as I am not voted off the island. Third, I know you guys have made some changes to the league over time, multiple weekly matchups, slow draft, etc... I would like you all to consider three changes I think would make the league better. 1. 48 hour trade approval. 2. Allocation draft instead of vote off. 3. Get rid of the divisions. Is there some point to them I am not familiar with? That is all.
