Pretty sure the season-long inning limit doesn't apply for H2H leagues (double check the link I shared in an earlier post). However, I believe the season-long positional game limits do still apply.
-
There is a 1500 inning maximum limit for pitchers which equals about 8-10 SPs starting for every scheduled start. So indeed that could run up to 14 starts per week -- which seems like A LOT assuming we're trying to mirror a MLB cadence of 6-7 SP starts a week. Preventing this by only allowing 2 SPs today seems like an earnest way to limit starts but really places an emphasis on having a deep rotation and daily lineup switches. I agree there are better ways to cap.
-
Sorry for the repeat posts. The "send" button was delayed.
-
I appealed to the league admin about increasing the number of SP spots and moving to a weekly starts or IP limit. My request was denied and the 2 SP spots will remain. Apparently there is one guy who convinced the admin that the 2SP roster limit was the best to prevent streaming. I won't go into detail about my problems with this theory (that's for later) other than to say I don't see how a system that allows for 14 starts per week "prevents" streaming. That's WAY too many starts.

oh wait it looks like you can change your pitchers every day. Theoretically you could get 14 starts a week. I wouldn't count on though and if just grab any pitcher you might even go negative.

any idea what happens if one of your two SP have two starts in the week? Do you get both? The first? second? Average? I think in the 5 SP system they used to count everything.

Special thanks to Matt for taking over the abandoned team in our league!! Watch out, he's got $400 in Day 2. Reminder for everyone, our second draft session is this Friday, 3/23, at 20:00 PDT.
-
welcome Matt. I am pretty sure we have been over spending so you should be sitting pretty in the second round of the draft.

I don't expect to be able to be able to make every hour of every draft session. (like 8 to 12 hours total I hear) But as long as we have multiple sessions everything should work out fine for me. As long as it doesn't lock us out for missing a round of nominations.

Hey Everyone, I'm still working on filling out the league before the draft tomorrow night. If I can't, I'll be postponing the draft while I work to do so and we'll revisit an auction next week. Just wanted to be up front about the current status of the league.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, but that scoring system is correct.

So I see this league is scored using fangraphs points. Does anyone know how those are calculated?

Hi, everyone. My name is Rob. I live in Encinitas, CA (North San Diego). I am a life-long Royals fan who is still basking in the joy of 2015 (and ruing the existence of Madison Bumgarner from 2014). At least I can go watch Hosmer play for the Padres. I'm another orphan of GDR but looking forward to my first Ottoneau league. Great to be here!

Hi I am Ron from Los Angeles. I grew up an Angels fan in Orange County. So I was quite pleased when the Angels became an LA team (again) even though they never moved. I am also a GameDayRitual.com orphan and am looking forward to Ottoneu providing years of new fun.

Hey everyone - sorry for the delay...been a long work week. I'm Brian. From Seattle but spent a few years in Chicago and recently moved to Dallas. Been playing fantasy for about 15 years now and excited to take it up a notch and try out my first Ottoneu league!
-
My name is Chris, the OnBaseBunters are my team, and this is my first go at Ottoneu. I live in Henderson NV connected to the far more recognized Las Vegas NV. Always had an insane love for baseball but no connection. My wife and her family are all from the Kansas area and for the last 14 years have been a die hard Royals fan along with their crazy ups and downs. My baseball love goes beyond just watching and fantasy and into collecting cards mainly but some memorabilia here and there.
-
Reposting this: https://www.when2meet.com/?6738796-3F2Wt. It's halfway complete. Please be mindful that the default is the Pacific Time Zone in that poll. I strongly encourage everyone to be as flexible as possible. This first initial investment of time could make or break everyone's long-term interest in the league. If you need/want to make any adjustments, let me know.
-
Wassup, ya'll, my name is Dan. I live about 30 minutes outside of Seattle, WA, home of the perpetually mediocre Mariners. I've been pouring over baseball box scores since I was about 5 years old. Anyone else play "Pursue the Pennant" game in the 90's? The best way I can explain this obsession to my wife is that I'm like one of those Dungeon and Dragon nerds, except with baseball. But hey, she watches the MLB package more than I do, so that's a win!

Hello Everybody! I am Evan, the owner of the AZ Batflips and this is my first crack at ottoneu. I have lived in Az for the past decade but grew up in the bay area and that is were my love for baseball started. Looking forward to a year round fantasy baseball experience and the auction. Good luck

Fun to meet everyone and thanks Dan for getting Bluegrass Catastrophe here. I’m Charley and have long dreamed of trying my hand at Ottoneu. Perhaps serendipitous it happens to be 2018 as I’m expecting a new kid in May whose middle name will be Otto... so Otto new, indeed. As the team name suggests, I’m in Kentucky. And as the name suggests, with the second kid I have low expectations for my fantasy season. But as they say, success is maintaining optimism through failure after failure!

Evening. My name is Dan and team is Luck of Lucien. I am proud to rep Oakland, CA, although I am a fan of the team across the bay, the Giants. My team name is in homage to 90s rap, and it is my oldest son's middle name. This is my first time in an Ottoneu league, and I can't stand spreadsheets.

Hi my name is Cesar Tolosa, and the Cubbies are run by me, I live in Cabo, Mexico, is my first time on the ottoneu fantasy baseball, i'm a very active player on fantasy baseball league's, look forward to theses type of FB.

The OC Twins are run by me, Kevin. While you might think that the team name might hint at me overbidding on Byron Buxton, the team is named after my twin girls who love going to Angel games, though its mostly for the ice cream! I am a bit of a fantasy baseball vagabond. I ran a Roto league in college & then played in STATS Inc.'s game until they pulled the plug on it, which just happened again this year at GameDayRitual.com. Looking forward to the new challenge. See ya in the box sco

I'm Patrick. I live in Pittsburgh and l, unfortunately I guess, am a huge baseball fan in a city where loving just about any other sport will get you playoff glory. I too love the beauty of a well constructed spreadsheet as my wife will tell you. And I'm looking forward to a fun year in the league!
-
My name is Craig, live in Seattle and am a fan cheer for the most consistent organization in professional sports. For those who don't know, that's a reference to the longest active playoff drought in American sports. I love analytics, and the countless hours that go into building spreadsheets I'll never use. Looking forward to kicking things off! Please reach out with any questions AND DON'T FORGET TO READ THE RULES!

Welcome! Below is a useful scheduling app to help identify a time that works for as many people as possible. Note: you're choosing a start time that works for you.
I am open to 2 3-4 hour time slots or 3 2-3 hour time slots. Whatever gets the most support from the league.
https://www.when2meet.com/?6738796-3F2Wt
I'd also like to encourage everyone share a quick blurb about yourselves, where you're from, what team(s) you cheer for, what beer you drink. Doesn't matter.
-
Hi, it looks like I filled your last spot in the league. Hope that's okay. I'm excited for the season to start. Haven't been in an auction league in a while, so this should be fun.
Any plan yet on the draft, as in splitting into two days? If so, I'm hoping you maybe plan for that Saturday and then Sunday, 17 and 18. Any time is good for me those days. But, of course, I'm the last one in here so if you have a schedule set already I'll make it work.
