Nice! That'll be super helpful as I put it together.
-
CouchManagers has set up importing Ottoneu keepers via an upload of our roster export. This will allow you to do a slow draft on the CouchManagers site without having to manually input players already on rosters.
In case u guys didn't see it. This should save a ton of time...

Sounds good. With a slow draft I would like to start as soon as we can.
-
I'd prefer 2, especially over a full season.

I like multiple match ups.
-
I enjoyed multiple simultaneous matchups last year. By increasing the sample size of total games played, it leveled out randomness so that the best teams made the playoffs. I also just thought it was more fun to have more competition during any given week. 2 would be fine and I wouldn't hate 4.
-
I just changed our matchups back to just once a week, but they still offer 2 or 4 times a week as well. Anyone have a preference? I think 2 per week would be fun and help remove some of the randomness of a H2H schedule.
-
Let's do it! Same rules as last year?
-
Thanks for the responses -- slow draft it is! We have ~260ish keepers out of 480 roster spots, so anyway from 200-220 auctions picks to make. I think we should start no later than next Wednesday 3/10 to ensure we finish on time. I'll set up the draft on Couch Managers this weekend. Anyone have any complaints?
-
Still waiting on a few votes for availability for a live draft. @Onbase, @KC, @Zod -- please fill out the Doodle (https://doodle.com/poll/w6dc79dzrtvw2z9u?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link) for your availability. Looks like there's at least one time, 3/22, that works for everyone now. Could take advantage of this slot and either do a slow draft until then and then wrap up live. Or live draft 3/22 and wrap up via slow draft. All depending on the availability of those three.
-
When is the draft goint to start?
-
I used to collect cards as a kid. I had a collection of about 35 Ken Griffey Jr. cards (most in near mint condition), including his Upper Deck rookie card that I pulled from a single pack.
During one of our several moves in my childhood, the binder of Griffey cards was lost. Terrible.
-
Are any of you sports card collectors? During SIP, I have gotten back into the hobby. Would love to chat about collections, etc. Hope you are all doing well. Lucien

You can update your responses any time.

PLEASE READ: I'm guessing we'll have to do a slow draft, but if everyone could fill out the following poll about their availability, that will help us determine. If we do a live draft, we'll likely need two, 2+ hour time slots and given timezones I doubt we can accomplish that in one evening. Assume all time slows are 5:30-8pm PST/8:30-11pm EST. https://doodle.com/poll/w6dc79dzrtvw2z9u?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link

Live draft would be my preference, but that's contingent on it working for everyone.

Draft
-
2. Personal reason here, but i have a 4-week old at home and will owe my wife something very expensive to guarantee an uninterrupted window to do a Fantasy Baseball draft.
-
1. It's very difficult to coordinate a draft date/time that works for all managers, especially one that takes as long as Ottoneu live drafts generally take.
-
I liked the convenience of slow draft. Specifically, the flexibility to check the auction periodically rather than blocking out 6-8 hours of focused draft time. If we did put it to a vote, I'd go with slow draft for the following reasons:
-
We did a slow draft on couchmanagers. Basically players were nominated maybe 12-16 at a time (more often when we got to later rounds) and were auctioned off for 24 hours. When someone up'd a bid, the clock was reset to 12 hours (if ticked down below 12 hrs). We eventually moved the 12 hour reset to something like 4 hours. You can set it to receive an email whenever your active bids get exceeded by someone else. Worked pretty well all things considered.
-
I was not here last year. I vote live if we can pull it off. How does a slow draft work?
-
I agree with AZ that it changes strategies a bit. I would prefer live unless someone can't join like last year.
-
Would love to do the normal auction, I feel the slow auction changes the dynamics to much. Though getting it set up with 12 people who live across the country is pretty difficult

Thoughts on doing another slow draft like last year or a live draft like the year before?
-
Hi All -- couple quick notes: 1) Looks like a few of us need to renew our league dues for the upcoming season. Please do this in the next few days. 2) Keeper decisions need to be finalized 1/31, so start finalizing your trades/cuts before then.
-
Ahhh, that makes sense. I was stressing about making those picks. Turns out for no reason. Thanks, Leif
-
If there was a tie on a vote, the lowest in the standings of the teams involved in the tie vote would determine it. For example, Max Fried and Trevor Bauer tied with 3 votes. Of the six teams involved, KC T Bones was lowest in the standings and he voted for Fried.
-
The arbitration results page says tiebreakers are determined by the team lowest in the standings. I did not determine the tiebreakers, I have the absolute worst team, so how was it decided? Thanks Leif
-
Nope, I think they've already been determined.
-
Ok, did you need me to pick the tiebreakers in the arbitration? It seems like they have already been decided?
-
Right, Acuna Matata was lowest. The standings on the league overview page won't reflect updated team names until later I think.
-
What team is lowest in the standings? I thought it was the one I just took over?
-
I did not think it would be cool for me to vote twice
-
Think other new owner did arb vote as Lucien - I don't mind. His new team is only team that hasn't voted.

Challenge accepted.

Okay, Permian will now be taking over Acuna Matata and welcome back our original Luck of Lucien owner! He will be joining shortly as soon as I confirm with Niv that Permian's payment for next season is appropriately transferred to his new team. Our league is now full.
-
Thanks for the offer, Permian. We can let the former Lucien owner decide which team he'd like. If he ends up joining and he'd like his old team, I'm sure he could just claim Acuna and then we could just trade the teams to each other.
-
I would be happy to give him back his old team if I could get Acuna Matata in return. Is that even possible? Can you trade entire teams? I already paid my $50 for next year.

Yes, that’s right. Acuna Matata is the only available team at the moment but we’d love to have him back. He’ll have a few days to get his arb votes in. Acuna is the only team who has not submitted their votes.
-
I believe acuna is the only team available

The guy who started the Luck of Lucien team way back when the league started has interest getting back into the league now that his youngest kid is 4. Is there still a team that needs an owner?
-
Welcome Permian! Yup that’s about right. We’ll likely draft in Mid March so a bit longer than a week or two to prep.
-
Got it thanks! I assume we will find out who is available on the 15th? Figure out who to drop by January 31st. Then we get a week or two to prep for the draft?
