Itโs surprising I updated my block and a manager offered me a deal for the players I made available? How exactly
-
It's also very strange that Gonzilla's trade block was changed to exactly Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Cowser, and Musgrove 20 minutes before the trade was finalized.....
-
I've heard enough. Let this trade through.
-
I donโt believe a single person said you were โnot above boardโ. There is no way to predicate how your team is going to perform before the season starts. This trade is a normal trade in July or August. Thatโs the difference. Also, you donโt have a legal team as it stands now or after the trade.
-
but I'm not sure I like being called ''not above board''. I have enough leagues that I don't need this hastle, never had trouble with any other leagues since day one except one and now this one. And for the guy that says that I didn't participate in Auction, well I had 6 auctions that night so this one with no money to spend had to be put on the backburner.
-
BPM, To be clear, and speaking only for myself, I have no reason to believe you are a bad guy or below-board. This trade makes sense if you are sub-.500 in July. But it isn't a great look when you are 0-0 in March.
-
If you look at that roster, I let go very decent pieces to get young players who can help me in 2024 or 2025 (remember this is a Dynasty league). I don't care if season isn't started, what's the difference. One thing I agree is the loan is high, maybe I could of split and gice him a loan of 20$. Without knowing me, after a loan you don,t like in one trade, that's what you going to think of me all year, I might as well leave this league. I'm ready to try to fix things with Gonzilla to make it
-
A lot of talking on this trade. Some of you seem to think I'm not a decent guy or not above board, well I beg to diffeer, I was in 38 leagues last year and heard complaints on about four of my trades and believe me I like trading. So please spare me the bashing. I wanted to get rid of Mookie at 54$ and getting something good in return.
-
I don't know BPM. My interactions with Gonzilla give me every reason to believe he is strictly an above-board guy. But if I'm looking at a league where I don't know any of the owners involved and I see a team that was 8-12 last year selling Mookie Betts in March in a trade like this, my immediate thought is "this league is shady and I want nothing to do with it." As such, I am voting to veto. If come mid-July and BPM is 4-10, then this trade takes on a far different, and better, light.
-
Yes, I should rely on spring training statistics to form my opinion of this and disregard all other statistical projections for the year. Let alone industry sources who ranking prospects.
-
Exactly House of Learned Doctors! Whoโs to say Encarnacion-Strand wonโt have a Michael Harris type year. His spring stats were .577 avg 4 hrs 13 rbis 1.748 ops. He also plays in great american ball park. Just vote and see
-
I agree with Bohms in all aspects of his last post.
-
My standard counter to this type of argument is you are way overestimating your ability to project players performance.
-
I don't understand the reluctance to Veto. I don't LIKE to veto and don't do it often, but if there is an obviously lopsided trade, then I voice my concern and use the Veto option. It's there for a reason. And it's not to protect the team owner from themself, it's to protect the league integrity. We all pay money to this league, whether it's significant to some or not, and we should use our right to vote to maintain the integrity of the league, because without integrity, it's not worth playing.
-
He didnโt participate in the draft is a significant issue for me when this trade occurs 2 days later. He has 7 open spots. He will need 3 outfielders to have a valid team. Iโm still waiting to see what is being built. Those 2 prospects arenโt on any top 100 list I can find and arenโt above a ranking of 10 on their respective mlb team.
-
Just because you donโt choose to rebuild before a season doesnโt mean another owner canโt make that choice. Your vote counts for 1 and youโve made it
-
I'm not going to veto because we didn't set any boundaries before hand, but I want to have some extra rules in place before next season. $440 on opening day is frustrating. A month or two in, sure, fine.
-
I agree with the sentiment that the trade is ridiculous.
-
I don't believe in vetoes in fantasy sports.
1) It's irrelevant how many points Betts outscored Musgrove last year. Gurriel outscored the "prospects" by 500 plus.
2) The assumption Betts isn't a keeper is just yours. 56+ in 2024 for a guy who will be eligible at multiple positions isn't unreasonable.
3) I dont care what other people on slack are saying.
4) Zero games have been played. How are you rebuilding already.
5) BPM didn't participate in the draft
-
It can't be the Commissioner's call because what if that person is involved in the questionable trade? And there's no way to prove it as none of us know each other. Any time a questionable trade arises, it should be brought up for discussion and then we need to vote. That is why there is the VETO button. This trade is ridiculous so use it.
-
Just for the record, I'm not saying the commish gets the say on all trades, just that in the case of collusion, if it's prove-able, then it shouldn't be a vote, it should be the commish taking action. If it's not prove-able, then I guess a vote is mostly just a "how do we feel about the trade" vote?
-
Ottoneu has a rule in place for 50% +1. It should absolutely not be the commissioners call especially when he was the first one to speak up against it. Slack is unanimous on the belief that it is not vetoable so far
-
Yeah but let's say mookie goes out and gets hurt and is out for the season in the opening week. I'd be pretty pissed if I was Papi, tried to trade him, and the league arbitrarily vetoed that trade.
-
That being said I've never vetoed and won't in this case if we talk it out. Just wanted to clarify my position
-
Godzilla I don't think anyone is blaming you for this. But speaking as a member of the division and your opening week opponent, you having an opening day salary of $440 and a free Mookie Betts (a little hyperbole, sure) is frustrating.
I do disagree on principle that vetoes are only for collusion. Is this written anywhere? Feels like that should be a commissioners job to handle, not something that should be put to a vote
-
Barrels I know the rule I just hope the negative views of some owners donโt come affect others
-
Mookie outscored Musgrove by 90 points last year. Mookies salary makes it that he wonโt be a keeper next year. Again BPM offered this to me so he clearly has a vision of when he wants to compete wether it be this year or next is up to him
-
3 useful inexpensive pieces. Useful for when? 2025? These 2 could have been acquired in the draft on Monday that he elected not to participate in.
-
I agree with Gonz, vetoes are for collusion only. I tend to doubt these two are colluding.
I am a little confused by the loan portion though. Is Papi trading Mookie AND paying (most of) his salary for the year? If true, that's hilarious.
-
The rules state " If a majority (50% + 1 vote) of league managers object to the trade, it will not be finalized".
-
Of those 4 trades BPM has made for Encarnacion-Strand, one trade involved him shipping out Yordan and another involved him shipping out Tucker. Again, seems like he values him highly
-
I brought the conversation to the slack channel and the early returns are that the deal favors me be is not vetoable. BPM gets three useful inexpensive pieces and he has the right to build however he sees fit. If any of you are on slack for ottoneu, check out the conversation on the trade review channel
-
The trade is straight up ridiculous. We havenโt even seen a single game played and Papi is in rebuild mode? Trading away the biggest asset on his team?
-
Agreed with Gonzilla. This trade may not make sense to some of us, but if it makes sense to Papi and Gonzilla (both of whom are not new to Ottoneu), then it is not up to us to stop it. Unless of course you believe there is something fishy going on, which I personally donโt.
-
Vetos are for collusion and collusion only. In all leagues, owners make deals for various reasons. Some rebuilding and others going for it all regardless of whether itโs before or during the season. I donโt think we should get in the habit of intervening in each others trades.
-
At the very least, this trade should be tabled for the time being and not processed pending league wide discussion. Tis not for us to determine "good/bad" trades. We do have the responsibility of challenging a trade in fairness to the league or sportsmanship.
-
I don't know much about the projects and what surplus value Mookie and Musgrove have at their prices, but I will say I don't like the idea of $40 loan given out before the season even starts, but it's not someone we've discussed as a league so I've never really brought it up before. But that's my quick take on the trade
-
I just checked Encarnacion-Strand profile in since March 11th, Big Papi has traded for him 4 times. He obviously values him greatly
-
Well in that case...big papi, hit me up ๐
-
Big Papi has made trades like this in every league I have that Big Papi is in. With that said, this trade is ever bit as...questionable.
-
Obviously I thought it favored me so accepted
-
I updated my block and that was the offer presented to me by Big Papi
-
I would like to hear that rationale as well.
-
Can someone explain how that trade is fair?
-
I have to move the draft time to 8:30. Kids have something scheduled that will go until 8. Let me know if this causes any problems.
-
๐๐ป Iโm good with the date & time as well
-
date and time good by me
-
I'm ok with the time change
-
Love it
-
All good
