Also, I decided to pick up a team in a 4x4 start-up league that starts drafting later tonight (10 EST). There's going to be a live stream of the draft at the youtube link posted here: https://twitter.com/JustinVibber . Should be a fun time! I am grossly under prepared to draft in a format I've never done before, so be sure to make fun of the Oxford Knock Boxes.

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing well through these difficult times. Just wanted to say hi, and that I'm looking forward to getting this league back up and running when baseball is back, whenever that may be. Nothing to mention for our league beyond Niv's updates, but please reach out to me if you need anything at all in the meantime.
-
Very happy with the new name. Was worried if he'd keep the name change at the same level as the first one haha
-
+1000 points for the new team name.
-
I think I was the only other Pollack bidder

1. Tough luck on Noah... i had no clue about the TJ when he was cut in here, so i was halfway towards putting a claim on him lol.
2. Nicely done "Vogelbach's....." when one door closes (munoz tj + losing AJ), another door opens ($1 Vogelbach)
3. Hope everyone is hanging in there!! 🙂
-
Well, I hope all you A.J. Pollock bidders are now happy!
-
He just never seems to be able to reach the potential he has

Tough luck on Noah

Looks like I’m joining you ATOMO thanks Mets
-
Darn it Sale, you're killing me smalls!
-
Thanks Seams. Nothing administrative to add beyond what Niv shared in the post linked up top, other than the fact that we'll keep transactions/trading open since we've drafted. Hope you all take care of yourselves in the meantime, as well as be mindful of others in the league, as it's probably not the #1 priority for anyone right now. Looking forward to picking things back up once baseball's back!!
-
What a difficult time. Hope all of you stay healthy and safe through all of this and we can get back to normal sooner than later.
-
Draft is now complete
-
Happy Draft Day to all!! Let the season begin!!
-
There's a draft on the horizon?!?!

Draft Reminder: One week from today!!! Will send another e-mail closer to next sunday, but a friendly reminder to get your prep in!
-
Sorry I missed the Friday night theatrics (fell asleep at 9:30) but thanks to everyone for completing their cuts in a timely manner. Seems like there's gonna be a lot of money to burn in the auction room (except for me)! Quick update: Tentative plan for the draft will be 7:30 est on 3/8. Also, the rule change vote did not pass (5 yay, 6 nay, 1 abstain) so we will continue with the rule as-is, thanks for participation there.
-
Fun filled and action packed lol.
-
I see that many of you have had just as exciting of a Friday night as I've had.

FYI: the vote for the 2020 offseason rule change in the draft poll is pretty close. If you have an opinion one way or another I?d recommend filling it out!
-
e-mail sent! Here is the poll: https://forms.gle/pdfCnXQyvsyxhAau9 plan is to draft on Sunday, March 8th
-
Friendly reminder to please fill out the draft day poll if you haven't already! taking a pass through it now..... i see some of you mention a wife / significant other (not naming names) and didn't block off 2/14 as an unavailable draft night... i will allow you to revise your response 😂 Poll: https://forms.gle/GNmjqBuKq1Rgn6sJ9

I agree that the cutdown rule is a nice way to help jump start the offseason, I would just like to see the threshold be higher than the $400 because teams will have loan dollars they'll have to cut, plus the ~$80 postseason raise, plus up to $33 in arb money. I do have mixed feelings about this rule which is why I wouldn't mind a trial next year at $425 just to see what happens.
-
There will be no changes to the $400 salary cap, please feel free to send me a direct message if you're having a hard time understanding the discussion on the proposed change to the offseason cutdown rule 🙂
-
A higher salary cap would increase inflation, not decrease it. (But I'd vote against adjusting it regardless.)
-
I have looked at a random sampling of leagues and it looks like inflation actually goes down the older the league is. This is probably due to owners eliminating the high salaries from when the leagues are initially formed. Most of our owners went gang busters on the opening day of auction and highly overpaid the first 30-40 players nominated. Just using Aaron Judge as an example, I paid $50 at the first auction, he is $43 now and right at the avg salary.

As the league matures, inflation of prices will grow as well. Right? So our average price per player will be higher than new leagues and lower than more mature leagues. Perhaps an adjustment will or is needed and we need to decide the timing on that adjustment. I do enjoy that we have the rule. Baseball has a 40 man roster cap, a 26 man roster cap, and a luxury tax artificial cap.
-
Completely agree with Showstoppers. Love how this spurs activity by forcing teams to dump their crap early. At most 3-4 keepable *contracts* have been cut so far.

@Seams we’re keeping the $400 Salary Cap as-is for the foreseeable future, this is only for what happens after arbitration is over. Currently we cut down to $400 before trading, the discussion is if we want to remove the rule altogether, or bump it up to $450 (or keep the rule) starting in 20-21 offseason
-
So $450 starting year 2020 or year 2021? Honestly I have been making plans based on a $400 budget, however if the vote is to move it to $450 I'll need to adjust my strategy.
-
at their current prices. I feel like it makes us really evaluate the guys in the middle because a couple of dollar valuations here and there swing a lot of deals this time of the year which is part of the fun for me. With that being said I am cool with it going to vote to see what everyone thinks
-
I personally like the rule because you get a better idea of what is going to be in the draft. I am in another Ottoneu league that doesn't have this rule and there isn't nearly as much action on the trade market because everyone is just trying to dump their bad contracts. This league is also one of the most active leagues I've been a part of so that could be the case as well (kudos). I haven't seen many guys cut post-arbitration (both seasons) that I would have thought had value on the market
-
Thanks Carp. I think I already said I’d make a poll on this for next offseason, so I’ve been slacking 😅 I’ll include a vote for this when I send out final draft date confirmations, I think I like the idea of bumping in the cutdown to $450 (instead of $400) most, but I’ll include a vote in preference of $450 cutdown or removing the rule. Feel free to keep the discussion going on this or anything else to vote on in the next poll.
-
Since we still have some time before the keeper deadline, I'd like to revisit the idea of adjusting or eliminating the rule requiring the cutdown to $400 after arbitration. My thought here is that the rule was put in place to help with parity in this league, however there are already two rules in place (auto $2 increase and arbitration). At the end of a season a total of $80-$113 will be added to a team and this rule could force teams to cut players with valuable contracts just to meet the $400
-
requirement. I love this format because it allows for Dynasty style play while incorporating prospects and building a roster that can last for several years, but still forces owner to change their strategy each season. I feel that the cut down to $400 takes some of that strategy away. I do like the thought of having an idea of who might be available in the draft, but it also removes potential players that teams can trade and recoup some value. I'd love feedback and see if we can get to a vote.

Mid-Offseason Housekeeping: Please remember to renew your team by 1/31, if not sooner. Keeper deadline is also 1/31, you need to have a legal roster at that point, and it will be the last chance for you to make changes to your roster before we draft. Speaking of the draft, be on the lookout for an e-mail in the next couple of days!

That last trade was a good one. Helped both teams. Well done folks.

In an AL only auction league I am in, what is the speculated price for Rendon (not Ottoneu) $260 cap? I am thinking mid $30's. Trout is at 50 and Betts at 39

If a team had to pay Cole's salary with Ottoneu salary caps, it would take them 810,000 years.

It is a good thing our salaries are not ties to real life. Starting Pitching just got really expensive.

All arb coupons have been applied! Trades may be made now, but please cut down below $400/40 before having trade discussions.

Too excited to get the offseason started so I wanted to make sure I got my arb coupons, lol.
