There is a monetary benefit - drop $12 mitch haniger, and he's a $6 cap hit unless someone else adds him. Wait 30 days, add him and drop him, the hit shrinks to $3. Wait 30 days, do it again, hit down to $2.
-
Remind me again the strategy behind cutting a player, picking them up, and then cutting them again? It doesn't seem to have any monetary benefit but I must be missing something.

I'm going to note this day as perhaps the first time ever that I've been ahead of Foot in the standings.

One week in and I've already run out of guys. 9 guys on the DL and now only one healthy hitter on the bench. Please be kind and let me pick up some players lol.

Gavin Williams--I did not know I bid on him! I guess I thought I was bidding on another player and put the amount in for Williams. So I am going to cut him, but I wanted to let everyone know, as it may raise a question as to why I would bid on him then immediately cut him.

fun draft. Thanks to some late-draft starting pitching adds, I'm at least open to moving Gerritt Cole.If you're interested, and want to bargain, I'm all ears. Would be looking for a hitter and a reliever back (assuming we're not talking a Trout-for-Cole like trade), and could add a player from my side, too.
-
Ottoneu draft starts in 17 minutes!
-
Agree that these occurrences can be irritating and therefore at least somewhat problematic. Per the message boards (search "Requiring nominations"), commissioners have tools to pause the draft or block someone from further participation if they fail to nominate, go AWOL, or are suspected of gaming the system. This of course puts the onus on commissioners to set expectations, monitor, and police these situations, which I suspect is probably easier said than done.
-
Thinking ahead to the auction: I wanted to raise the issue of present managers missing/skipping a nomination when it is their turn to nominate. Sometimes it's because they stepped away or they lost track of time & couldn't get it done on time or (maybe) an interrupted internet connection. However, it can be a strategic advantage, particularly late in the draft when every player you nominate could land on your roster for $1. Any thoughts?

Anyone heard from Taxman yet? It sure if 3/22 at 5PST is good for him or not

I guess Taxman wanted to be perfectly clear that 3/22 is good for him!

Gentlemen, Fosten and I would like to hear from you regarding potential auction dates. As we have in the past, we conduct our auction on a weeknight starting at 5pm Pacific Time. I would like to propose Wednesday March 22. Yes, that is the beginning of Ramadan, I hope that does not pose a problem for any of you. What say the lot of ya?

Not trying to spam the message board, but this feels like it'll interest most of you all. I'd like to move Corbin Burnes before the draft, but only for a player (or a few players) that fit in these specific categories: 1) young, 2) an outfielder or 1B, 3) costs less than $20. Do your worst!

To be fair, you have 3 MVP candidates on your roster plus Vlad Jr. and Aaron Nola. The question should be: why eighth? ;)

Hmm... arbitration results -
Foot - First place, most arbitration dollars
Mudville - Second place, tied for second most arbitration dollars
Port Rupert - Third place, tied for second most arbitration dollars
Seattle Zen - Eighth place, fourth most arbitration dollars :( WTF?

Wow, that was as close as it could get! Amazing! I was enjoying my own little battle with Seattle for 7th place. He took a big league on the second-to last day, but I was surprised to see two of my starters get starts on the last day despite them going to the playoffs, and I inched ahead. My hitting was a shambles this year and I had no money to fix it. I'll definitely be looking to reload on that side.

Congrats Foot! I still have no idea what i'm doing, but feel pleased with how i finished. i don't even know that i've gone through the arbitration process, so if someone wants to smarten me up, feel free to shoot an email over!

heck of a season, gang. Watching the jockeying at the top of the leaderboard was something to behold. I could have been up with them if I had managed my roster better - I left lots of games unplayed and didn't realize I couldn't catch up until it was too late. Looking forward to arbitration and running it back again next season with this group!
-
Congratulations to five time defending champion Foot! 🎉🍾 Was that our first real close finish? That 162 game limit did Mud in, seeing over 40 points stuck on the bench, you must have pulled your hair out.
Arbitration starts on the 15th. Don’t be a Munson, fill out your arbitration before the deadline passes.

Congrats to Foot and to dave for an entertaining finish. I burned thru my allowable innings pitched early so it was just a matter of time before I fell back. Hope everyone has a great off season.

Reid Detmers threw a no-hitter on my bench last night lol. For the record, he was there due to my own stupidity, not negligence, as I opted not to start him against a decent Rays lineup. Related, but getting "only" 67 points for a no-hitter is pretty hilarious, but that's what happens when only two of the 27 outs are via K.

well, crap. what a lame as rule. wish i'd have known about it.
-
Yep, it's a thing: Rule 1(f)(v): All pitchers can be placed in either SP or RP positions on the lineup and roster organizer pages. However they will only accrue statistics if you use them in the same manner as their MLB team.

CRISTIAN JAVIER points? I didn't get credit for his points yesterday. The only thing I can think of is that there is a rule i was unaware of that he only gets SP points if he's slotted as an RP? IS that a thing??

Me joining this league has clearly caused copious chaos.

I am as surprised as is SZ that this season all sides other than mine have have raced to the bottom of the standings. Give me time, I'm sure that I can again lead the rush to mediocracy.

I'm blaming it on user error, though I swear I clicked that "make a claim" box.

The computer 💻 probably assumed Taxman was in last or looked at the standings and didn’t believe it. “That can’t be right”.

"When a player is dropped, other team managers have 24 hours to claim him on waivers for 100% of his salary, with the team lowest in the standings getting priority."
Only thing I can think of is you thought you put in a claim but didn't get the mechanics of it quite right (there is a box that has to be checked)
