Hey gang. We have another transition. The owners of Pooch and Tooch are moving on from the league. It's sad to seen them go as they were original members of the Nick Greenhorn Society. The good news is they had someone interested in taking over management of the team. So please welcome Jonathan, the team's new owner.
-
Yes, sorry Canucks, busy week at work. Welcome/thank you for taking over GR's old team.

Hey all. Good news! We have a new, but familiar, owner for the team formerly known as Gentlemen Rebels. One of Canuck's co-managers will be taking it over and Canuck will now have a single owner. Cheers.
-
So, we good for one of us take over the empty team?
-
All good, no rush. Enjoy the weekend

Thanks for offering. Ballad has taken over as co-commish. Let me get back to you about splitting your team to take over GR. Sorry traveling today.

Ok, well we are willing to split up and take on our own terms. Let us know if that works for you. Also I(Greener) would be interested in a Commish role if you need help

No replacement yet for the previous team named Gentlemens Rebels. We had a false alarm on a potential owner

Just a reminder to complete arbitration, ~ 9 days left. Also want to announce that Ballad of Sandfrog has volunteered to help with the commissioner role. Thank you Ballad!

As a reminder arbitration starts this Saturday October 15th! I know it is football and almost basketball/hockey season but please remember to submit arbitration. I will be looking for a new manager to take over Gentlemen's Rebels' team, shouldn't be hard, his team is loaded :). If anyone has a manager they think would be a good fit let me know. Additionally, if anyone else plans to NOT return next year, please let us know ASAP. Thanks

I would very much appreciate having assistance running the league. Is there someone who would volunteer to co-commish with me? Otherwise, we may need to end the league which would be quite unfortunate. I don't have the bandwidth to be a solo commissioner.

Hey everyone, it's been a pleasure playing with you all this season and the past few years. I let Pandman know earlier this week that I'm going to step down as commissioner and depart the league. My wife just had our second child and things are going to get quite busy, so I need to consolidate my fantasy participation. If someone else would like to step up as co-commish with Pandman, I know he'd appreciate it. I'm also happy to give guidance on how to find replacement owners if helpful.

Yea its usually a week or so after the season ends

Per Niv’s end of season Megathread; he’s expecting either Monday or Tuesday.
“Monday, 10/10 or Tuesday, 10/11: We will start sending out money via PayPal for both Ottoneu Fantasy Baseball and OPL.”

Thanks for a heck of a season everyone! The back and forth with Rebels over the last few weeks was an absolute blast. Looking forward to an active off-season and defending my title next year!

Thanks for nothing, Tatis.

So says Rebels as he casually leapfrogs from 4th to 1st in a matter of a week or so... 😂

If anyone would like to place a hex on a star player for your real life team's biggest rival, go ahead and trade them to me and I have high confidence they'll get hurt within a few weeks. Between Tatis, Harper, now Wander, plus all my other random IL dudes, I seem to have some kind of special power...

Given that the trade has already gone through, we will not be canceling it. Thanks to everyone for sharing your perspective.
-
Also, I personally think that even if enough people did in fact veto the trade, the trade should not be automatically be cancelled, but rather, at that point the commish should investigate and if he determines that collusion was involved, then and only then should the trade be cancelled.

..from the other half of Canuck- Just nix the trade already please. We will reach out to 14 for another offer and go from there and let's move on. A little upset that someone would cry collusion though....those are big words. Lastly, I still don't get the age/pedigree/rank deal though as everyone has their own idea of valuation, and some seem to put a very high price to a prospect who hasn't swung a bat yet in the bigs, with about a 1 in 10 chance of becoming more than an average player at best
-
I'm not saying that I suspect collusion. In fact, personally, I think the trade should go through so long as the requisite number of votes to veto are not there. I just say this because if there were owners (and I'm not one of them) who went to the commish about this, then clearly there are some who are suspecting collusion - or why go to t commish? Just making that observation is all.

I concur with dream and pooch
-
Just to chime in we feel similar to American Dream; although we might not totally agree with the valuations we don't think that is grounds to veto it and we are ultimately OK with the trade if both parties think its good for their team.

We couldn't get anyone to agree to anything. Just look at the trade history and see that no one was taking anything we were offering. To say that this is so one sided to the point of suspecting collusion is absurd. Go check the trade we offered you diamond and you rejected it. We made a trade that to us makes us errer long term and if you think that's collusion (even after a full day of trade offers) then so be it
-
I think the issue here is that some folks believe the return for that deal is so one-sided to the point of suspecting collusion. If enough owners believe this, then the veto system should vet that out. If the requisite number of owners do not vote to veto then the trade should go through.

P.S. if the league feels it needs to be undone, I think it needs to happen before games are played today for the sake of competitive integrity; after that it feels inappropriate to do so as traded players will have affected our season point totals. The trade itself didn’t get enough vetos, but there were abstains. If a league majority (7) voices vetos before Soto plays at 7PM eastern I have no problem reversing it; otherwise I feel it should stand.
-
My 2 cents: While I probably wouldn’t make the deal myself, I’m okay with it. My rule is that if I don’t have a reason to presume collusion, it should go. Disagreement w valuation shouldn’t be a reason to nix a trade.
-
(3/3) Polanco was better that Xander last year (total points) and given the $ difference/keeper status, Polanco > Xander. Down year for Soto, but also for O’Neill, who was OF26 last season. So a keeper OF2/3, a starting MI (Peña, upgrade Canuck’s current options), a swap for comparable keeper at SS, and a pitching upgrade, seems reasonable. It’s 2.5 keepers for 1, all who can outperform their salaries while Soto likely hits his. Not trying to raise a fuss, just some perspective from my en
-
(2/3) I’m going to mostly leave Walker/Perez out of the discussion (I think we both prefer Walker) as it’s fairly flat in terms of production, but regression likely looms for Perez. Looking at hitters Soto/Xander (12.08 PPG), Peña/Polanco/O’Neill (13.52 PPG), improvement for a team looking to fill holes in their lineup. In my opinion, Soto, Polanco, O’Neill all keepers, Xander a cut, Peña 50/50 for next season.
-
(1/3) If the league has some issues, I can see why, but being on one side of this deal I’d like to make some points. First, what does age 27 have to do with anything? Seems oddly arbitrary to point it out when most of the best hitters in the league are older than that. Add in that due to salary increases, most players aren’t owned by a team for > 2/3 years; future value in Ottoneu is more about salary than age.
-
Go ahead and cancel it, we aren't looking to make waves here so we will work something else out if possible. Don't really want to spend days justifying a trade, or their age or pedigree, when there has been some questionable moves to be honest, and let's just leave it at that.
Have a good day.
-
Canuck, I'm writing on behalf of a few different owners who have expressed concern about the deal that's currently awaiting processing. They've noted that for 2 top ~15 hitters (including Soto, who most would say is at least top-5, despite a down year), you aren't receiving a single top prospect, only 1 player under 27 years old, and no players performing close to as well as Soto or Bogaerts. This is an extremely light return. Can you please provide some insight into your process and rationale?
