I really wanted to keep him (and most of the other folks I had to drop to waivers), but I made a rookie mistake looking at my available cap space in the roster organizer instead of the lineups or rosters page, and accidentally wrote some checks I couldn't cash. Oh well...
-
Oh well, will hold if I can. If not, he's an easy one to let go.
-
Also did not know that until this season: and it is why I cut my Painter shares.

Great job with the draft everyone! We are just waiting to see how we want to complete Darnstown's roster. Once that team is complete we can end the draft and people can start thinking add/drops and trades.

Great, thanks Sandy.
Darnestown, the auction room is yours. Would you like to finish your roster with auctions, or are you done?

We will probably just stay 1 man short do once we hit 39 we’ll shut it down on our end
-
Today we finish!
Sandy and Darenstown, I gave you each another nomination. If you don't object, I will reduce the auction timer to 8 hours. This will only be for new auctions, it will not affect currently ongoing auctions.

Glad you are enjoying the auction, Expos'!
So we should wrap up tomorrow. I won't import the rosters again until the last of it is finished. But at this point most of us should have completely updated rosters here in Ottoneu. Reach out to either me or Get a Leg Up if anything needs changing.

I'd also like to thank our commissioners for organizing the auction. It was perfect. The smooth-running slow draft was a first for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the beginning of spring training games. Play ball!
-
Thanks to commish for adding all those players! Everything look good to me, but of course please continue to check your rosters for mistakes, everyone. I did add the four players won at auction since P. Meadows, and we are now current through Joey Gallo.
Looks like it will be Darnestown and Sandy here soon. I will leave things the same. If anyone wants to stop before hitting 40 players rostered, let me know. And if Darnestown ends with a bunch on uncontested auctions, I can end them

Faster is fine by me, but defer to others who may not be obsessively watching the auctions like a fiend like I've been.
-
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds good. If the pace is fine with you all, we will just keep steady on.
Right now it looks like only four teams will still be bidding tomorrow: Double Time, Sandy, Jazz, Darnestown. Maybe another one or two.
So you all tell me how you want the auction to run. If we keep the 12-hour timer and 4 nominations, that is good with you all?

That seems fast. I'd prefer to keep it the same - we'll still finish in the next couple days. Maybe shrink initial bid from 12 to 10, but keep 8 hours for rebid? Below 8 means some teams won't even have the chance to bid on guys.

Tomorrow AM I will set the auction timer to 4 hours with a 2-hour reset? Is that too fast? Maybe 6 and 3?

I think it's a good idea to try to get through this. I agree with shortening the time.

We are nearly 60% finished with the auction. Looks like cash and roster space has dwindled enough that most bids are in the $1-6 range.
We can decrease the auction timer even further if people want. With the weekend and a short timer, we can power through a good bit of the auction.
I will start by increasing nominations by one per manager.
Today I will be with spotty cell reception, so if we want to change the auction timer it might be tomorrow.

I have imported more players from the auction (it is current through JD Martinez).
Tomorrow the clocks will shorten to 12 hours. Likely that the change will occur at or around 9am EST. Any current auction that still has more than 12 hours will be reset to the new 12-hour timer.
I will also increase our nominations to 3 per team to further quicken the pace. It is not important whether people fill their entire 40-man roster via this auction...but we do still have 160 open

It can't happen, the system will block you before, it blocks at 40, so you couldn't bid on the second player if you're at 39 with an outstandind bid

12 hours is fine with me. The 9 hour reset should still give everyone plenty of time to make bids.
I'm wondering what happens when we fill our teams. Say I win a bid that fills my 40 man roster, but I have an outstanding bid on another player ending later. Does that bid just end up being disqualified? How does that work?

Thanks for doing all this, Sandpiper, it's really great! I'm fine with 12 hour auction timer if others are.
-
Things are clipping along nicely. Would anyone feel uncomfortable if we decrease the auction timers to 12 hours?
Let me know either here or in trade chat if you want to keep the 24-hour timer. If I do not hear from anyone today, I will reduce the timer beginning tomorrow morning.

There is no real hard time limit to nominate a player. Obviously, we all have our jobs and lives away from Ottoneu so when our two nominations have been drafted we won't always be able to make out next two nominations immediately.

Use the maximum bid option as well to expedite the speed of the draft. People that are new to a slow draft might want to look over the interface before you start. Draft starts 11:00 but that doesn't mean that everyone will have a nomination up. The nice part of this is everyone has the freedom to draft at their own pace.

Thank you to Sandpipers for setting up our draft. It's going to be a lot of fun.
Just a reminder. When It's over, Sandpipers has to assemble your Ottoneu team with the players you drafted on Couch Managers. Help him out by keeping track of your picks and their position eligibility. Use the roster organizer to make sure that all your positions are filled and you remember who you drafted.

Our slow auction is set for Monday, February 12. The start time has been changed from 10AM to 11AM, EST.
We will begin with 24-hour auctions, 9-hour resets, and 2 nominations per manager. The 9-hour reset is nice for sleep. If the winning manager is outbid within the last 9 hours of the auction, the auction timer will reset to 9 hours. So if you begin an auction at 11AM EST on the 12th, and someone outbids you at 10AM EST on the 13th, the auction would then reset to expire at 7PM E

Yes, the couch managers mock drafts are a great option.
If you have not done one before, this is a good tip:
When you enter a bid, you can enter a "blind" max bid. This is the dollar amount above which someone else would have to bid in order to out-bid you
There is a button above the bidding zone that says, "make my max bid my actual bid". Only use this if you want to automatically post your max bid.
