Not really interested in a mock draft

I was thinking of starting a draft from scratch so as not to reveal our respective strategies.
Disregard my previous comment, as I've just realized it's possible to join mock drafts directly through Couch Managers.
-
I'm not necessarily sure a mock draft is necessary. Unless all 12 managers are dedicated to doing it, I think it would fall flat. I, personally, would not want to tip my hand pre-draft. If anyone feels differently please let us know.

Thanks, Sandpipers! Perhaps we could turn one of the 2 auctions into a mock draft and start it right away, as a way to practice and get familiar with Couch Managers?
-
Thanks for your patience, everyone. The problem is fixed. Catcher position still seems to require catcher eligibility, which is what started this. But our rosters only have one catcher spot instead of two, which fixes our problem. So MJ Melendez can be slotted anywhere, including SP, except catcher.
Anyway, we can use that original auction.

Agree, thanks Sandpipers! I'm in both auctions now, I'll doublecheck my rosters when I get a chance this weekend, too, but thanks much for coordinating this!
-
Thanks for all your effort Sandpipers! Appreciate it
-
Ok. So couch managers might be able to fix the issue for us. Apologies everyone for the silliness. I have both auctions as active: if couch managers can fix things, we use either one; if not we go with the second auction. One thousand apologies. I won't send another message until the issue is resolved.

Ok, great. We are now Auction ID 712. New link below. Password is: doover
https://www.couchmanagers.com/auctions/?auction_id=712
For this one, still 40 roster spots. But only one designated catcher, and any player can be in any roster spot. Just don't accidentally auction yourself an invalid roster!

i am fine with a new auction, np
-
Yes I agree, option 1 is probably best. Luckily we have 10 days to all join up again. Posting the link with the password on the message board should make it easy enough.
-
That part is easy enough: I can download a CSV file from CM and import to Ottoneu.
Two potential solutions:
(1) I creat a new auction and we all sign up for that
Or
(2) I increase roster sizes to 41. This would effectively mean we all have $1 less at auction. So not ideal.
Sorry, again. If everyone does not mind, option 1 is best. We might encounter this issue later in the draft.

I read somewhere recently, I think it was in a SLACK discussion, that it's possible to export, even if it's not completed, the result of the draft on Couch Managers to Ottoneu. Say, at the end of each day or every two days. This allows for keeping an update via the Ottoneu site.
-
No, you can import the rosters directly back onto Ottoneu from CM. I just did it a few weeks ago -- super easy

-
IMO, it does all that (having done a few last year 7 or 8), the only one I'm not sure is the 60IL

No big deal. We'll get through it. The challenging thing will be completing the rosters onto Ottoneu. People have to remember who they drafted.

It literally only matters because I made it matter. Again, sorry, this was a silly mistake. I did not think it through, and unfortunately I am not seeing a way to cure my mistake after the draft has been created.

I have done slow drafts on Couch Managers and on completion I have shortstops in catchers slots and pitchers in outfield slots. I'm not sure eligibility matters.

Yes, i have it set to automatically reserve $1 per open roster spot.
Yes, 60IL guys do count toward our 40. Same as in a regular Ottoneu auction.
And yes, the budgets should be accurate.
The issue is my own creation. Had I just put 1 Catcher slot, or allowed players of any eligibility to be put anywhere, this would not be an issue.
I have an email out to CM about a potential fix. If I cannot fix it, I might need to create a new auction.

The positional eligibility has always been a little different on CM. CM doesn't account for 60-day IL in any way (though I don't think Ottoneu does this time of year either?--could be wrong on that). the budget on CM does reflect what you have on Ottoneu. There is an option we can choose on CM as to whether each team has to keep at least $1 for each roster spot--but regardless, once we import rosters back into Ottoneu, every team will have to have a legal roster....
-
Is this something thatβs always been an issue with couch? Do 60day IL guys count towards our 40? Does our budget on couch reflect what we have in Otto? Does it keep us to the budget rules Otto uses such as $1 in cap per roster spot not used? Weβve never used it..
-
I believe the Couch Managers roster is limited to 40 players (though there is a setting you can change even mid-draft to add more slots, I believe). My only concern is that even if I put MJ Melendez on the bench, I won't be able to fill the roster with 40 players unless I draft a player that is C eligible on couch managers. We could just increase the rosters on CM to some arbitrary amount (say, 45 players?), but everybody would need to be sure they only draft a total of 40.
-
I don't think position eligibility matters. You can put Melendez in a bench slot. Couch Managers doesn't care if you roster is valid. Ultimately all 40 players can occupy bench slots. I believe that is the case. I apologize if I'm incorrect.

Sound and the Fury raised a good point: Couch Manager positional eligibility is not the same as Ottoneu. I had hoped this would not be an issue because of bench slots, but specifically, MJ Melendez lacks catcher eligibility in couch managers. I have so far been unable to figure out how I can change the roster settings. If anyone know, please let me know.

Ok. I uploaded our rosters into couch managers. Maybe check to make certain everything is correct. But we should be ready to go.

Tunnicliff Inn sworn enemy. Sound and the Fury secret best friend. I refuse to explain.

I am detecting more congeniality in this group than is optimal. Is it possible that we can introduce more trash talking and/or animosity? Or perhaps nominate a few teams to be sworn enemies? It should add to the entertainment.

Sure letβs do Feb 12th. Game on!

Would prefer to start as soon as possible. Expecting a child in early March, so would like to have as much of the draft done as possible by then.

We do not have an overnight freeze. But we do have an 8-hour reset. So if the current winner is outbid toward the end of the auction, the auction timer resets to 8 hours.
Sorry, not at the computer, I cannot remember the window for that reset.
Also, we can do an overnight freeze, if it is wanted.

No problem on my side to start tomorrow evening, maybe?
My cuts will be done by Friday noon at the latest, but I should be able to do them today.
Moreover, I've never used couch managers, I would like to familiarize myself with the interface a bit.
Are there any breaks planned during the night?
-
No strong preference for us. Like Jazz said Iβd give the new owner some time to dive into the leagues cuts and make them as he wants. Maybe next week?
-
I'm down to start tonight or tomorrow - super excited, but want to give our new owner time for informed cuts too.
-
I would love to start tomorrow. Occupy this dead time. How soon do we want to get started? What's reasonable for everyone?

I think the earlier the better. Another league is starting our slow auction next week Monday. As was mentioned in that league chat, the slow auction can take a while, and we want time in between the draft and Season Opener for trades.
