Nice! I grabbed Gouda.

If anyone is interested in trying an allocation league, there are a couple of new openings in a league I recently joined from teams that finished 3 and 4 last year. This team has $20 Darvish, $19 Bauer, $8 Lamet among others: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/719/team?team=5067
The other has $11 Gleyber, $2 Torkelson, $14 Realmuto, $13 Matt Chapman: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/719/playercard?id=14864

Lol, Highland. I am a huge Stros fan....

Thanks guys! Highland, I know you say over already, but that felt like a slog!!! Especially the last week or two tracking projections to make sure I was on pace. Looking forward to next year -- but worried about the toll that 162 will take!
-
Congrats, woBACON! First full season! Impressive team management.

Groupon, I was just talking to Schrute today about cutting him in one of my leagues. He's been brutal!!
-
Nope. Cut his ass.

Is there something I can do that's more emphatic than cutting JD Martinez?? He's been so terrible this year.

Yeah. The cap space was the prize here. Staumont was a small addition.

Staumont's velocity is pretty nuts right now, and I like the cap space swap

Is that Staumont for Blackmon deal legit? Asking for a friend....

Given the short season, I think the trade is healthy enough. BUT it would be nice if major pieces like Scherzer were put on the block so everyone knows the manager is open to this kind of deal. There's no obligation, of course, and theoretically we could all be constantly messaging each other with inquiries about availability, but if that's a real reasonable expectation then there's no purpose to a trade block.

I definitely don't suspect silly business but I do question the loan plus Scherzer for the 28th rated prospect overall ( 7th highest pitcher) as per Rotowire. I agree the trade could of been improved by other teams and good on Groupon for getting this deal done and since I'm the only one questioning the deal, it must be fair to the majority. I'm officially pouting while writing this.
-
The only time I really consider vetoing trades is if I think there is clear collusion or the trade clearly damages the long term competitive balance of the league due to mismanagement by one of the owners, and this doesn't seem to be either. I tend to think that if you don't like the return someone got for something there was always an opportunity to best that offer. Trades of big players are tricky and rarely do people agree on what a fair return is.

I can't keep Scherzer at that price (nor was Cows planning to, I don't think), so the trade is really Mize (who's 60 FV and not far from playing time) for 8 or 9 Scherzer starts. And now that I jinxed both him and myself, it will definitely turn out to be less than that lol.
-
We negotiated quite a bit before landing on what essentially amounts to one year of Scherzer for the #1 pitching prospect in the game. No shenanigans.
-
Sorry, usually don't care but the Mize for Scherzer trade isn't cool and I vetoed it. My opinion for what it's worth.
-
(By the way, I scoured my commissioner tools and I don't think I can switch from a 48 hour to a 24 hour waiting period mid-season; hopefully I'll be able to take care of it in the off-season for next year...)
-
Sounds good
