Moving my conversation with Larry to DM. If anybody is curious, I'll be happy to share the content of the ongoing discussion, but don't want to spam the league.

If Total Rebuild is the only team without an owner, that roster does not seem like a tough sell. Was this redistribution already promised as a recruitment tool? And why wouldn't Cash Considerations be included in the redistribution?

I don't think it is necessary as a recruitment tool. I picked up an 11th place team when I joined this league.

We've had a team without an owner for going on three months now, and I haven't been able to fill it even with some aggressive recruiting. That's never happened in my seven years of being a commissioner. I'm not seeing any harm to the league from implementing a dispersal draft, and if it lowers the risk of cancelling the league because we can't fill it, it seems like a good step to take. If there are others with objections, we can scrap this plan, but otherwise I'm going to move forward.
-
I hear your concerns, Larry, but I think you are actually missing my intent. I'm not implementing the dispersal draft for competitive balance (no doubt people can take a team from the bottom to the top of the standings), but rather as a recruitment tool. The new owner is better able to shape the team as they would see fit. There are many established leagues out there that are struggling with recruitment right now, likely because of how many available teams there are right now.
-
I get the intent and think it well intentioned but seems unnecessary. I've not heard of this in my ottoneu experience. My team went from 10th to 11th to 2nd without such an intervention.

Hope that addresses your concerns, Larry. Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss further.

Using the dispersal draft mitigates the risk of us not finding owners for all teams before the season, which would result in cancelling the league, which is something that no one wants.
-
It's a pretty tough sell to convince someone to shell out $50 a year for a team that is likely a couple of years away from contention. The dispersal draft is a tool that is used pretty widely across other Ottoneu leagues to combat exactly this situation, and the new owner of Youngbloods joined with the understanding that he would be able to use the dispersal draft.
-
Hey Larry, good questions. We're in pretty unique situation, as we've never had this many owners turn over in one offseason. Filling one or two openings is pretty easy, but we may have five total changes this year. Add that to a big number of available teams, and finding owners has been tough. You are correct that Rebuild is in pretty good shape, but Youngbloods is in need of a pretty thorough rebuild.
-
Is there a reason we are deviating from the standard rules of the format, if im correctly understanding what you decided. Those rosters look pretty workable with a little attention

Welcome to the league new managers and the plan sounds good Dukes.

draft is complete. If anybody has any questions or concerns about this, shoot me a DM to discuss.

pool, then the owners of those teams taking turns drafting the players from that pool. This will help even out the talent on those teams to make them a bit more attractive to potential owners who might take them over. What that means in the short term is that those teams won't be able to trade anybody until the dispersal draft is complete. You can still trade with the other teams, but the rosters of Youngbloods, Rebuild, and any other team that becomes available are frozen until the dispersal
-
Hey all. First order of business: welcome to the new owner of Youngbloods. As you all have seen, there's been some turnover, with Youngbloods, Total Rebuild, and potentially one more team turning over. It's been tough finding folks to take over these teams, so we're going to do a dispersal draft for the new owners starting with Youngbloods. Basically, that means dumping the players on those rosters (Youngbloods, Rebuild, and any team that becomes available between now and the draft) into one

Thanks! I’m excited to be here!

Welcome to the league Cash!
-
Hey all, give a warm welcome to the new owner of Cash Considerations, the team fka Bobby Bonilla Retirement Plan. Still looking for someone to take over Youngbloods. Let's get that stove heated up again. Only a few weeks remain until the keeper deadline.
-
Thanks everybody for getting your arbitration submitted. You can adjust your allocations for about another 24 hours, if you need (especially if you want to take a few dollars away from Strider - $19, holy hell). Once arbitration wraps up, trades are fair game until the keeper deadline at the end of January.
-
Just a reminder that arbitration is up and running. Also, we are looking for two owners to take over Bonilla and Youngbloods. If you know anybody that might be interested, send them my way. I'm hoping to fill both openings by the end of arbitration (Nov 14).
-
Great season, y'all. Enjoy the playoff baseball and we'll see you back here in a few weeks for arbitration.
-
Congrats to Duke, Young Larry, and Total Rebuild. A strong end to the season.

Spppshhhhh I still have two more days to over take 1st 😂

Also, just as a reminder, the deadline to start an auction is 11:59pm (Eastern) tonight. If you have any shopping you need to do before rosters are frozen for the offseason, better get on it.
-
Make some for me. Got no chance here but I'm 20th out of 5,000 player season long a nationwide game and I'll be watching carefully ....

Grabbing my popcorn and beer for a fun night of scoreboard watching. Gotta get that fantasy baseball fix in because winter is coming.

Would be quite the comeback from Larry if he can pull it off. It looked like Dukes was running away with it for a while and Larry was in 5th on 8/1. Best of luck to the both of you!
-
Yeah man! A finish like this is why I play. Good luck to you all!

Looks like we could have a hell of a final week in store. Young Larry and I are in a virtual dead heat based on p/g and p/ip. My innings are done and I only have a handful of games left, so it'll come down to the quantity and quality of the final games and innings Young Larry can put out there. And Total Rebuild and Harmless Errors are in a virtual dead heat for the last money spot. Fun way to end the season.

Happy Bobby Bonilla Day to all those other than me who celebrate

If we relax the rules before OD, we create a situation where a team could carry 45 (or 50, or 60) players (if this idea is extended to it's logical end) without a clear mechanism for enforcing fair play. From a league management standpoint, it seems much clearer and straight forward to require roster compliance.
-
Total Rebuild cites the correct portion of the rules, and we've handled it in a similar way in the past (commish makes a cut). I am not in favor of relaxing rules before Opening Day, as it creates a slippery slope situation. While some guys are clearly going to go on the 60-day, there's no clear way to distinguish which injured guys will and won't open a roster spot. We're not going to be in the business of speculating about that, so we'll go by when teams officially put players on the IL.
-
It's league dependent. Usually it's cuts to the last players added until the roster is in compliance. I've seen it every league I've played in because there is a lot of ambiguity to how rosters can be managed. But again, I'm all good if we want to relax the rules before OD.
-
It's item c. under I. ROSTERS - OVERVIEW: At no time shall a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner.
-
Heard of this. I've also been commish of multiple leagues and never encountered this or seen the need for it.

If the rule is written somewhere that states the commish can intervene, I will quiet down. By not having a roster in compliance at this stage, team owner is still following the rules and using them cleverly. Why would the commish be empowered to make a cut for someone else? Couldn't they just cut the team's best player? Team owner is already being penalized with an out of compliance roster. I've played ottoneu for about 5 years now in multiple leagues each year at different price tiers and never

I also believe it should be discretion of the owner given penalties are already laid out on the site. However, I'll comply with what the commissioner rules. I would say that we have to be consistent and not allow for exceptions to the 48 hour rule irrespective of how rational they are (e.g. a guy may soon be going on 60 day).
-
I'm the one who said something to Dukes. By not being in compliance, you get an extra look at players that shouldn't be on your roster. You'd be able to carry as many players as you wanted after the auction if there was no penalty. Every league I've played in has a 48 hour window to have a legal roster which is why I said something. If we want to be lenient in between the auction and OD, I'm fine with that.
-
I’m also not in compliance, but I will be when Lux hits the 60. At this stage in the season it shouldn’t be a big deal right?
-
Seems like it would be the business of the team owner whether or not the team is in compliance. The penalty is you cannot make roster moves or set lineup?
