I dm'd you. Check the message board history for a rundown, then let me know what you're thinking.
-
I’m interested in the Muscoda team. What’s the deal with a dispersal draft?
-
Also, a reminder to renew your team if you haven't already done so.
-
Also, any team not involved in the dispersal draft (all teams except Iron City, Muscoda, Acuna, and Youngbloods) needs to make their cuts by 11:59pm EST on 1/31. Players involved in any trades that finalize after 1/30 will not be eligible to be cut due to the 24 hour review period ending after the keeper deadline. Let me know if there are any questions about this. Happy last minute transaction time!
-
Hey all, a couple updates: Sounds like there may have been some miscommunication with Muscoda re: the dispersal draft, so he's going to make a decision whether to stay or go. I've learned my lesson and am going to put passwords on the teams available to claim from now on so I can screen folks. I'll keep everybody update on where things land.
-
Welcome Mudcats!
-
Hello all! Total Rebuild is now the Muscoda Mudcats. Still getting the lay of the roster and league but feel free to message or send blind offers ahead of the cut deadline.
-
Hey dudes, I told my brother we were down an owner and he claimed the Total Recall team. Let's keep this league full!
-
Fair question, lots of moving parts. Iron City, Total Rebuild, Acuna, and Youngbloods will be in the dispersal draft.
-
Confused a bit, which team will benefit from the dispersal draft?

Well, that was fun. At least we found out early that he was a dick.
-
That you guys go along with this is a joke
-
Go ahead and just cut me. Clown league
-
And that is without question the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Fantastic that the commish, and first place team, gets to watch 2nd and 3rd place picked apart.
-
Why exactly is this team subject to a dispersal draft? And what does that entail
-
Welcome to the new owner of Young Larry. Only one more team to fill then we can move on to the dispersal draft and trade period.

I like the trade period too.

Thanks for having me - Excited to get running with this league!

No objections from me, I like the trade period idea
-
Welcome to the new owner of Acuna, and thanks again to Jackalopes for the recruitment assist.
-
Any questions or objections to this idea?
-
Hey all, because our offseason was a bit truncated because of the turnover, I'm thinking about opening a short trade window following the dispersal draft. Rules for the trade window would go something like this: 1) Keeper deadline is still in effect for all teams not participating in the dispersal draft. 2) Teams in the dispersal draft must keep all players drafted. 3) One week period to trade. 4) No cuts allowed as a result of any trades. 5) Roster must be in compliance following any trade.
-
That would be awesome. Thanks Jackalopes. If anybody else has people they’d like to recommend, I’m all ears.
-
Hey Dukes, I have a buddy who’d like to join. Want me to DM you his user name and you can chat with him?
-
I can’t give an exact timeline on when exactly the dispersal draft will happen, but I’ll be on the recruiting trail for new owners so this can be completed ASAP. In the meantime, the rosters of those teams will stay frozen until the dispersal draft, meaning those teams likely won’t make cuts until after the keeper deadline. I’ll keep everybody posted as we move forward, but let me know if you have questions. Thanks for your support and patience. Looking forward to the season.
-
Hey all, just wanted to provide an update after an eventful few days. In addition to Rebuild and Larry, we are looking for a new owner for Acuna. He hasn’t logged in since early November and we reached out to him multiple times without a response, so we decided to move on to someone who would be more active in the league. Moving forward, we’ll do a dispersal draft with the rosters of Youngbloods and the three open teams.
-
Yeah that seemed super weird all he focused on was: well I didn’t do one and I took an 11th place team to 2nd place. Even when you said it was because it was proving hard to find an owner. “Well it shouldn’t be hard to find an owner, I took a poor team”
He just couldn’t get over it.
-
Yeah, he was really upset about the dispersal draft, but I couldn’t figure out why beyond the fact that he didn’t get to do one when he entered the league 🤷🏼♂️.
-
Well apparently that escalated quickly.
-
I'm curious - is anybody in the league also a part of the Ottoneu Slack channel? Thinking about starting a league channel, but wondering if it would be worth my time.
-
Moving my conversation with Larry to DM. If anybody is curious, I'll be happy to share the content of the ongoing discussion, but don't want to spam the league.
-
Do what you have to do Commish, you have my vote

If Total Rebuild is the only team without an owner, that roster does not seem like a tough sell. Was this redistribution already promised as a recruitment tool? And why wouldn't Cash Considerations be included in the redistribution?

I don't think it is necessary as a recruitment tool. I picked up an 11th place team when I joined this league.

We've had a team without an owner for going on three months now, and I haven't been able to fill it even with some aggressive recruiting. That's never happened in my seven years of being a commissioner. I'm not seeing any harm to the league from implementing a dispersal draft, and if it lowers the risk of cancelling the league because we can't fill it, it seems like a good step to take. If there are others with objections, we can scrap this plan, but otherwise I'm going to move forward.
-
I hear your concerns, Larry, but I think you are actually missing my intent. I'm not implementing the dispersal draft for competitive balance (no doubt people can take a team from the bottom to the top of the standings), but rather as a recruitment tool. The new owner is better able to shape the team as they would see fit. There are many established leagues out there that are struggling with recruitment right now, likely because of how many available teams there are right now.
-
I get the intent and think it well intentioned but seems unnecessary. I've not heard of this in my ottoneu experience. My team went from 10th to 11th to 2nd without such an intervention.

Hope that addresses your concerns, Larry. Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss further.

Using the dispersal draft mitigates the risk of us not finding owners for all teams before the season, which would result in cancelling the league, which is something that no one wants.
-
It's a pretty tough sell to convince someone to shell out $50 a year for a team that is likely a couple of years away from contention. The dispersal draft is a tool that is used pretty widely across other Ottoneu leagues to combat exactly this situation, and the new owner of Youngbloods joined with the understanding that he would be able to use the dispersal draft.
-
Hey Larry, good questions. We're in pretty unique situation, as we've never had this many owners turn over in one offseason. Filling one or two openings is pretty easy, but we may have five total changes this year. Add that to a big number of available teams, and finding owners has been tough. You are correct that Rebuild is in pretty good shape, but Youngbloods is in need of a pretty thorough rebuild.
-
Is there a reason we are deviating from the standard rules of the format, if im correctly understanding what you decided. Those rosters look pretty workable with a little attention

draft is complete. If anybody has any questions or concerns about this, shoot me a DM to discuss.

pool, then the owners of those teams taking turns drafting the players from that pool. This will help even out the talent on those teams to make them a bit more attractive to potential owners who might take them over. What that means in the short term is that those teams won't be able to trade anybody until the dispersal draft is complete. You can still trade with the other teams, but the rosters of Youngbloods, Rebuild, and any other team that becomes available are frozen until the dispersal
-
Hey all. First order of business: welcome to the new owner of Youngbloods. As you all have seen, there's been some turnover, with Youngbloods, Total Rebuild, and potentially one more team turning over. It's been tough finding folks to take over these teams, so we're going to do a dispersal draft for the new owners starting with Youngbloods. Basically, that means dumping the players on those rosters (Youngbloods, Rebuild, and any team that becomes available between now and the draft) into one
-
Thanks! I’m excited to be here!
-
Welcome to the league Cash!
-
Hey all, give a warm welcome to the new owner of Cash Considerations, the team fka Bobby Bonilla Retirement Plan. Still looking for someone to take over Youngbloods. Let's get that stove heated up again. Only a few weeks remain until the keeper deadline.
