Yes I can do either one of those dates. I am flexible to the draft days and times, so whatever works is fine by me, I will make the time! Thank you and look forward to it!
-
@The Rizzorectors, I think you mean to ask them if they can do March 4 at 8pm, not March 3. We were trying to settle for Sunday, March 4 I believe.
-
Yes. PM. I don't do well on a Sunday morning. We are 3 short. Trying Not to Suck (new guy), Schwarber Beer, & Shark Tank. Can you three draft on March 3 at 8-11PM (ET)? Thanks a TON!
-
I'm assuming that it's 8-11pm and not AM. I can do the date, just not the morning.

Here's the calendar link. https://doodle.com/poll/qfhpsgakt6ivg6yp
If you haven't already, please fill this out ASAP.

However, I will work on the draft board this weekend. I think we should have an idea of March 4 by Sunday. If we can't get agreement by Sunday, we should move forward with a slow draft. If we do go that direction, I will submit a questionnaire for rules and regulations.
-
In the end, I think *poof* is correct. We should do everything in our power to make sure that we can have a real draft room. To that end, can we check with everyone to see if March 4 8-11 (I assume this is ET) will work for everyone? That means, we need to possibly email folks who have not yet submitted their answers the the questionnaire.
-
I'm good either way.
-
Slow draft sounds good if you want to set that up.

That should be ‘I agree’ and not ‘ignore’.
-
And ignore we can get the 4th with 100% participation, we are good to go. I agree with all the reasons why that is the very best scenario. However, I’m offering an alternative if this does not happen. In the meantime, we need 4 ish people to complete the calendar survey.
-
I think you should try the Sunday, March 4th at 8:00 date. According to the poll, there are 8 of 9 that are good with that date. Three owners haven't logged in to participate in the poll and Margaritaville doesn't appear to have completed the poll. I prefer we draft normal versus a slow draft. Part of the entertainment and challenge is having to make quick decisions whether to bid or not. I understand we may have to do what we have to do. But I say set a date and go with it. Try Mar. 4th.
-
I fine with that. We just finished one in another league I am in. We always do 24 hours with everyone nominating 2. If the the clock goes below 12 hours and someone bids it only resets to 12 hours. It took us a week to complete on couch managers.
-
I would be fine with that.
-
Looking at the draft doodle, it looks like we won't have a full agreement in place for a draft date. What do you think of a slow draft? I do it in my other Ottoneu league. We started on Monday. It's slow, but it gets the job done and everyone has equal time (in the case of my other league...16 hours...we have 6 different time zones) to view any auction item. It's fair and balanced. We can chat and carry on while it goes on. I think we should seriously think about it. Would love to set it up.
-
I filled it out. Thanks.

Hey all. Glad to be apart of this league. I really enjoy baseball and saber as a great hobby. Looking forward to competing against you all.

What the? That one is weird. If you need commissioner help, I’d be happy to give a hand.

Now needing a new owner for the former co-commissioner who has decided not to play this season.

Feb 25 works for me
-
Hate to be the bad one, but that time on that date is no good for me. I can make a later start time work out on 25th. Prefer a different date though. What happened to using the poll. How bout a weeknight. I've got 8 dates in months of Feb. and March that I cannot do(Feb. 24, 25, 26, Mar.1, 5, 10,21,31). I can make any other day.

Im good with 7pm, 2/25.
-
I am good with 2/25 7pm.
-
Same here Rizzo. I like AM! I would agree with 7 pm though
-
7pm or am? I'm cool with it either way.
-
How about Sunday 2/25 at 7 central time!
-
I am pretty flexible as far as dates and if it ends up being a time I can't make it I am sure I can fine a proxy on Slack.
-
I've emailed the doodle poll link to the remaining owner's and am hoping we can get the draft nailed down soon. It already looks like there are no slots that work for this first poll since there are currently 8 participants but 7 is the most we have on the same slot. We may either need an owner or two to try to be flexible if possible and agree to a time that works for the most people or redo a new poll for a different week. Thanks!
-
Yeah, let’s get a date set. I am ready to auction. 24 or 48 shouldn’t matter. The people that are engaged check the league every day and if a trade is that out of whack it is know instantly. It didn’t matter last year. The bad trade went thru with a 48 hour window. You just have to be active and vote.
-
I need a break from the foot of snow on the ground. I’m down for drafting. Need to think spring.
-
Let's pick a draft day and time!
-
By the way, we actually did have that lopsided trade situation last year. It was vetoed, then sent again in two different trades made within a day. That was voted 6 against to 1 approve. It's hard enough to get a trade vetoed or to get owners to vote. We don't need another handicap added to make it more difficult when needed. Last years trade is a big reason why this change is a bigger deal that appears. Especially to me anyway.
-
I don't want a situation where we try it out and then go back and change it again. What determines to change it back. Trades are viewed differently, how do you police a new change. Too many question marks. Make the rule defined and keep it. The 48 hour option again makes for the most fair and defined way.
-
either way. I think there is more value to the league to keep it at 48. I know this seems like a minor change. But like Rizz said, I don't want that one time we have a bad trade that it does come into play. I can't see a reason to change it that actually benefits the better of the league. Leave it at 48. Since it's not a big deal anyway, let's keep it where it actually could benefit the league.
-
I think the extra day to wait can help more than hurt. 24 hours can hurt more than help. The fact that most owners don't vote is more evidence that we should keep it at 48 hours as well. This allow more fairness for an owner to have time for the opportunity to choose to vote. from the messages I have seen, I believe we have more owners that firmly would rather keep 48 hours as an option versus the owners that are firmly wanting 24 hours time. Most 24 hour owners have stated thy are good

Second, while rare, it at least provides protection to the league for that lopsided trade that does need the veto vote. More time allows for a fair chance to vote. I am sure there are other valid points that can be made either way. But overall, I believe there is more value for the league to keep it at 48. It's not that big of a deal for a trading owner to have to wait one more day to get the new player. Most MLB teams don't have their new player available for a few days also.
-
I don't see where trying it out adds any value to the league. There are no significant reasons to try it out that makes sense. There are many reasons that add value or make sense for the better of the league to leave it at 48 hours approval time. First, simply adding time for an owner that doesn't log in daily to see that a trade has happened. This allow at least the choice to vote or not.
-
Most owners don't bother to vote on trades anyway. Let's try it out and if it seems like it is a problem, we can change it back.

Reposting the link to the doodle poll for the draft date/time so it appears at the top of the messages for a little bit longer: https://doodle.com/poll/3gny8zhfw6mcm8re Thanks to those who have completed it so far! There are still 5 owners we need to hear from to have everyone covered.
-
I think those are fair points. I don't feel real strong either way, just prefer the 24 hrs. I don't think there's 1 right and 1 wrong answer, just a matter of preference and the risk of an awful trade not getting vetoed if everyone doesn't have a chance to see it in the first 24 hrs. I'd encourage other owners who haven't voted/spoken up to weigh in still but think it would still be more for 24 hrs than 48 hrs.
-
I'm not going to lose any sleep if we go to 24 hours. I get it. I just want the whole issue laid out. I just Rand Paul'd this shit. haha
-
What makes the 48 hour rule the best-it provides the extra time that COULD become necessary if a player cannot check for that one day. The only reason we want 24 hours is to expedite trades quickly. That's fair for those members. But, this is the kind of rule that comes around and bites us in the ass because someone is on a plane or has an emergency of some sort and would have voted against a trade if he/she had time. In isolation 24 hrs is good. In the aggregate? I like the assurance of 48 hrs.
-
I don't care to go back much further or in season to analyze the number of votes but it seems at least half the league hasn't been voting anyways. I do realize in-season there may be more participation, especially early on when everyone still has a chance, but don't personally see a huge impact to reduce to 24 hours. Plus when players are cut, there is only a 24 hour window to make a waiver claim and no one seems to have an issue with that.
-
My 2 cents: If teams are actively trading and being as competitive and active as possible I think they should be able to have the players they are acquiring available to them a day sooner rather than giving less active owners more time to review something not likely to be vetoed anyways. It seems most MLB players traded are available to their new teams the next day or so. I just looked back through most of the January trades and they generally ranged between 7-9 people abstaining every time.
